Another question for the wise members on this board--Does anyone on here own DVC? DH has decided it is something we need to look into and now I am lost again. I thought I had Disney under control but DVC is something new.

Don't know about the wise members but I'll give it a shot.;)

DW and I bought into BCV about two and half years ago. We bought resale and haven't looked back. We have stayed 3 times at BCV, 1 time at SSR and 1 time at VWL. At BCV's we have stayed in a 2 BR twice and a studio once. In our opinion we would rather have a regular room at BC than a studio. But the larger units at BCV are so worth it. Much better use of points. If you need to ask anything specific please feel free to PM me.

We started buying DVC the fall of 2009 and LOVE it!! I say started because there is a disease among DVCers called "addonitis". Once you buy your first contract, then you just have to have more points so you buy another.....and another.....and another. We started out buying a small 50 point contract at OKW.....and then a 50 point contract at BWV.....then a 50 point contract at VWL.....then a 50 point contract at BCV.....can you see where this is going? It's worked out well for us. We have taken 2 trips with our DVC points thus far but have two planned for this year, gave our daughter a stay at Aulani for her honeymoon and have two more trips planned for 2013. By my calculations, we will have paid for our DVC purchase after our 5th trip when comparing the contract costs + annual maintenance fees to what it would have cost had we paid rack rates for those trips. Yes, we could have probably gotten a discounted room rate and yes, we might have been able to get free dining but those savings may or may not be there in the future. Our DVC points will last until 2042! We could have saved some $'s by buying one larger contract instead of smaller ones but we wanted different home resorts.

As others have said, there are lots of DVC threads with plenty of information. That is where I discovered DVC and learned about how it works before we purchased the 1st contract. Go look at the threads and don't hesitate to ask questions. DISboard members are very willing to help in any way they can.

That's exciting about Paris Disney!

Hmmm. What's new???

Teena's daughter will be getting married next summer aboard the Fantasy.

Marlton Mom is probably sleeping off her One More Disney Day and we are all waiting with baited breath for the photos.

I'll be packing up and moving the thread sometime this weekend, so stay tuned.

ETA: OH, YEAH!!! HOW COULD I FORGET- BEACH CLUB RESORT MERCHANDISE HAS ARRIVED!!!

omg marltonmom is in socal? i didnt go but heard one more day was packed! wait, did they do one more day in florida too?

Teena!!! Congrats!

We've been wedding plan for late July which is picking up steam and is turning into a semi full time job.

We had bad weather yesterday as well. 3 more sleeps for me til BCV!!
So you arrive late on Monday? Or Sunday?

We are arriving Monday night. Can't believe it is so close! Our family watched "Swiss Family Robinson" last night in anticipation of seeing the "real" thing. The portrayal of women as weak and helpless was a hoot - thank God things have changed! Our kids don't really remember a lot about our last WDW trip 5+ years ago so the excitement at our house is about to blow the roof off! :yay:

Grey Goose Slushie + Refill Mug =

Where in France do I find these slushies?

There is a booth along the World Showcase walkway, near France. If I am recalling correctly, you don't even have to enter the country to enjoy this treat.

Anyone have better directions?

Not that I have radar or anything when it comes to finding yummy adult beverages....:rolleyes1

When you come over the bridge into France from the International Gateway, curve to your left. There is a kiosk (just past the caricature painters) that sells the slushies, sparkling vodka (who knew), wine, and beer. It's directly opposite Chefs de France.

No, don't worry, Marlton Mom stayed on east coast and participated in the WDW One More Day.

My you were up very early this morning (or very late!)

Teena - congrats to your family! What great news.:)

Hi ya'll I have a question..My brother and his wife want to take the kids to the BCV and stay in a studio. The occupancy is 4. There are 3 kids-11,10,and 1. DOes that mean 4 only or 4 + 1 under 3? Thanks so much!

We stayed at the BWV with 3 adults, one teenager and a 2-year-old in a studio.

And here is my bonus packing tip, even though you didn't ask:

Instead of having individual suitcases dedicated to each family member, when we are checking in multiple bags, I always divide everyone's clothes into each of the suitcases. Even if one gets lost everyone still has some clothes.

We do the same thing! This way even if one bag is missing for a bit, everyone has something with them. We also make sure we pack a pair of pj's, a change of clothing and a bathing suit for everyone in our carry-on luggage in case the ME luggage arrives later.

I have never been in a room that had a Pack N Play, so yes, I believe you would have to request that at checkin.

We've been to BCV twice and BWV once and all three studios had a pack n' play in the room. We never had to request them. They are located in the closet.

We do! We love it. It has totally changed the way we vacation (in a good way). You can find a ton of great information on here. Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.

That's where we are right now...looking to add on.:rolleyes1

We love watching Disney movies before our trips!

Have a great vacation!

My plan is to watch Illuminations at 9 on Monday & then "meander" arond BW & BC after that, so maybe I'll see you when you arrive -although I think you said it will be very late!

We check out already on Tuesday to head to Poly. We're having breakfast at Captain's Grille. Maybe we'll see you around as we check out!

i went to bed at like 730 (long day at work) and woke up at 1230 and rolled out the internet for a few before going back to bed

I can't wait to see the BC merchandise!

I'm especially looking forward to seeing if there are BC Beach towels - what could be more appropriate than BC beach towels!

Of course I think I'll be looking forward to all the BC merchandise. Years ago I got a polo shirt that was resort specific (GF) - wouldn't that be great to have a BC shirt to wear to the BC/YC Mini Dis Meet?

Can't wait to see MM's pictures - hope the "celebrity guest" dinner went great!

Step-Saving Super Secret Entrance to the Beach Club

There is a side entrance/exit to the Beach Club which takes you mere steps, probably 3 minutes, from the International Gateway Entrance. It is near room 1501.

This was really handy for us a couple of times this summer when it was wicked hot and when it had just started pouring.

You have to go through a lot of hallways to find it, so the best way to do this is to follow the signs to room 1501 from the lobby.

Sorry if this is a really dumb question, but can you use this door if you are staying at the Villas? Or is it only the keys of the hotel guests that open it?

TIA :)

This door can be used by anyone. There may be a keycard lock on it overnight, but I'm not sure. The few times I have used it, it has been unlocked and no key was required.

Thanks for the very speedy reply :goodvibes That sounds good - that door could come in very handy in August.
