Gonna be there late tomorrow night!!!

I'm going swimming!! This Canadian can handle the cold!!

Oh no ... you're one of those guests. I was practically crying yesterday when I saw some guests swimming. I'm in the lobby shivering and they are swimming.

I just checked the weather on my new Iphone. (Can't wait to try out Lines)

Current weather St. John's 48
Orlando 35!!!!

but these are the highs for our trip

Thursday Orlando 67 St John's 41
Friday Orlando 74 St John's 33
Saturday Orlando 76 St John's 28
Sunday Orlando 71 St John's 30

Definitely swimming on Friday and Saturday afternoon

This Canadian boy has antifreeze in his veins!! I have done New Years Day Polar Bear swims in the ocean which is below zero!!

I'm in Wisconsin and we had 4 degrees this morning! Unseasonably cold, even for Wisconsin. We were at WDW last February when it was unseasonably cold there. It was cold even for this Wisconsinite! Hopefully the cold weather is getting it out of its system and temperatures will be more seasonable for our trip coming up this February. Selfish, I know. Doesn't help those of you there now. We've had some downright hot trips to WDW during past January/February trips. Like to get in at least one day of swimming. That didn't happen our last trip. The day we arrived it was nice. Wore shorts. Would have been a good day for swimming, but the AKL pool was closed. Oh well, thinking good thoughts for SAB this February!

They could release more ... definitely keep checking all the way up to the day before you arrive. Personally, I'd probably check weekly until you get to around March. Then I'd check every other day or every day. If there is a convention scheduled for any time you are there ... even if it starts the day before you check-out, they normally reserve the standard rooms for the conventions since they pay such a discounted price. Also, keep an eye out for the garden view ... it's only a few dollars more per night than the standard view and alot less than a water view.

I would probably go into the reservation system on line and try to book a new reservation with a date ending maybe a day before you are checking out and see if a standard or garden view is available. If yes, then that most probably means a convention is coming in on that last day. Can you play around with the dates at all? If so, you might be able to come a day or two earlier and get a standard or garden view.

Thanks Teena! I did go online and check. I went by one day increments. It looks like they have garden and standard available on the first two days. But the rest of the time they don't. I'm not sure if it would be better to try to at least book the first two days in a standard or wait. Uggg. But I will at least keep checking. Thanks.

If you booked a garden view for a stay after January 1, 2011, you will see a garden or courtyard. You will not see a roof or parking lot. Starting January 1, we have three categories instead of two at both the YC and BC. We now have (1) standard view - which is a yucky view guaranteed (parking lot or roof ... something undesirable ... but for somebody like me who always has the drapes closed because the only time I'm in the room is to sleep or change clothes or shower, that's what I would book); (2) garden or courtyard view which is just what it says ... it's a nice view that isn't a water view; and (3) water view which would be a nice view of the lake or pool.

Thanks so much for the info! I'm sure we will enjoy the garden view at the YC. We are not big "view" people to begin with. :goodvibes

I also have a question. I asked on another board, but didn't get a response. I'm booked at BC for next June. (Like you, Teena, I'm more of a standard view gal.) But all standards are booked YC/BC -in fact most deluxe resorts. I would have booked earlier, (I actually did) but we had to change our plans and bump the trip up two months. By the time I changed the only thing available in June was water view.

Is it likely that Disney is reserving some rooms to be released later? Or is my only hope to catch a cancellation?

Thanks for you help.

When we booked our May 2009 trip at the YC we only had water view available at both the BC or the YC. We booked water view and had the most beautiful view-looking directly at the lighthouse and the Boardwalk. unfortunately it rained (I mean cats and dogs) the entire time we were there. There had apparently been some kind of drought until we got there. If one more CM said to me that trip "Well, we really need the rain" I thought I was going to scream. :rotfl: So, we were not able to utilize the balcony or pretty much even SEE the Boardwalk with all the rain.

This trip May/June 2011, I booked the new "Garden View." Did you check to see if any garden views are available? It's only about $10 more dollars a night than the Standard View.

We almost had to cancel our trip due to my gallbladder issues (it has to come out, but thankfully on my terms!). I'm so glad we didn't have to cancel it because I only needed the painkillers twice.

We had a wonderful room - the same room we had last year! I had requested "room 3097 (waterview, king) or similar lake view" and was shocked that we actually got it. I know that just isn't supposed to happen! lol The view was awesome, overlooking the gazebo and easy to watch the boats at the lighthouse. There was even a wedding at 10am one morning. We're those people who will never see a rope drop, haha.

I thought I was prepared for the varying weather, but boy was I wrong! Maybe it's the weight loss or maybe it was just plain colder, but my jacket that I thought would be enough sure wasn't. I was freezing and Weds. and Thurs.! By Friday I couldn't take it anymore and bought a sweatshirt to wear that day. Brr!

We ate at Mama Melrose's (awful, never again), Le Cellier (lunch the day of MVMCP, dinner on our last night - both excellent), O'hana (good), Rose & Crown (very good - better than last year), and the Captain's Grille (very good, will definitely do again). We planned for a "resort night" on Thurs. and had dinner at the Grille followed by an evening at Jellyrolls, which we had never gone to before. We had such a good time that we wound up staying from opening to closing! That was a freezing walk back across the bridge!

We felt that the parks were busier this year than last year. Both years had free dining, so I guess it's just the economy turning around (for some). DHS was packed on Sunday and Thursday. Thursday was so bad that we bailed on it and went to MK after lunch, which surprisingly was less crowded.

There was no bounceback offer in the room. We even asked the front desk about it and they said if there wasn't one in the room then there wasn't one.

Somehow, even with all the yummy food and desserts I wasn't supposed to have, I managed to maintain my weight from Thanksgiving through vacation. It's hard to get back on track though with Christmas around the corner though. :/

Our FEB trip is creeping up on me fast! :lovestruc

PS... Can't stay at BC for my very first time and NOT try SAB!!!

Hi all

We're getting really excited about our first trip, EVER, to the Beach Club! :thumbsup2 We booked a standard room, but haven't made any requests. Should we just let Disney put us wherever and hope for the best, or should we request something? Obviously I'd love a waterview room, but it just wasn't in the budget for this trip. Thanks for any advice!

Thanks NMW. There were standard and garden views available the first two nights. After that, nothing but water and club level...

If I try to book one room for a couple of nights, then switch to another room, does anyone know if that can be all one reservation? Or would it have to be two separate ressies?

Our family stayed at the Beach Club in July 2009 and July 2010 and truly we didn't find the heat bad at all (the Trip Report title in my signature is tounge-in-cheek). Pixarmom gave a summary of some tips she received for dealing with a summer trip last year a few pages back.

If you can, get out to the parks early, preferably use the Extra Magic Hour in the morning, and return to the resort for a rest and/or swim in the afternoon.

You will love it!

Oh thank you!

We are headed down Saturday through Wednesday. The weather forecast got a little warmer and then today it's looking colder again. I'm wondering, is it pants and sweatshirt weather or winter coat, gloves, and hats weather?

Have a great trip. It's not the water that gets you, it's getting out of it that is the real pain in the b--t.

Hope you get to enjoy "Off Kilter". We caught them last week and really enjoyed the show.

BCV23, end of February!

Forgot to say BCV 1 bedroom. First trip to the BC can not wait!!!!!!

The premade houses are really beautiful and look larger than the kits. You can request a box for the already made houses and you can carry it on the airplane. Whichever you decide to get, I would call IP immediately and have them order them (with box if you get the one already made) and have it waiting for you in the room ... they are selling fast!

I purchased a premade one about two weeks before Christmas one year. It stayed fresh and we tore into it on Christmas Day and it was yummy and the bread soft!!

Yesterday, the head pastry chef came out for pictures and to answer questions and he told me they are having trouble keeping up with the demand this year.

we got ours:thumbsup2

Just got my schedule. I'll be in the BC lobby this Sunday and Monday and am really looking forward to meeting up with all the dissers there this weekend!!! I start at 9:30 AM, take a 30 minute lunch break at about 12:45 PM and then a 15 minute break at around 4:00 PM and leave the lobby around 5:45 PM.
