Teena takes a vacation and everyone stops posting???? Here's a Merry Christmas wish to all YC/BC DISers. Hope your stockings are full of Mickey merchandise.

We are recently back from our much too short trip to the BCV and it's just too painful to follow this thread right now.:sad1:

Just wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. In 4 hours my work closes for the Holiday until 1/4/11. Our family is staying in town but I hope to do stuff with my kids over the holiday so might not have alot of time to post. Heres to 2011 and our trip 3/19-3/27

Happy Holidays to all!!! Wish we could all be spending them at the YC/BC!

Hear. Hear. Wishing A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all in my other 'family'! :santa::disrocks::santa:

LOL...I was there in May and it's been to painful for me to look at this thread ever since! However, there is a shred of hope that I MIGHT be able to stay at BC (or maybe even YC if I'm feeling crazy!) next fall...hoping for a great late 2011 discount, because I really want to be at the Beach Club again!!! :lovestruc

We head down to the YC on the 29th. Can't wait to see the refurbished rooms as they were not finished last year when we were there. Just need to get packed!:woohoo:

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all in the YC/BC Thread Family!

Everyone on this thread was soooo sypathetic and understanding when we went through all our changes last summer after dd broke her leg.

Hope everyone has a wonderful trip or a wonderful time planning their next trip!!!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. :santa:

Thanks to all of you and your wonderful information, we had a great trip Thanksgiving week. When I asked dgs what was his favorite part of the trip, he said all of it!! Told us how much he enjoyed SAB and he would like to live at our hotel (YC).

The joy of 6 year olds and how they see their world. When I see the other thread about the cost of trips, I say it is priceless!!

Merry Christmas to my BC/YC friends!!!
We're heading to the World in 2 weeks (from today!) but staying at the Poly this time. I'm running the 1/2 marathon so we're bringing my parents along to help with the kids. My mom is 72 and has always dreamed of staying at the Poly. They love BC/YC but think of Poly as part of the "original" Disney World. We're staying CL for the 1st time so we'll see if we like that.

I'm hoping for a room-only discount for late August. We'll almost definitely return to BC/YC. I'm having a difficult decision. Last year we stayed in a one bedroom villa at BCV. We had a 40% room discount so we were able to swing it (we're not DVC). This year my little guy will be 3 so a one bedroom is out. The 2 bedrooms are very expensive if you pay cash. I can't decide if we should stay in a regular room at BC or maybe stay CL to get the lounge? Or maybe we need to consider a one bedroom at BLT since that'll sleep 5? I prefer the Epcot location since we tend to eat dinner at Epcot.... Opinions?

Amanda - Merry Christmas!

Good luck on the marathon. DH has run the Disney full marathon twice, the Disney half marathon once and the Tower of Terror 13K race. We had a ball!

The Polynesian was the first Disney resort we ever stayed at. It is an "original". I'm sure your Mom will love it. The first time we stayed at the Poly it was a "Grand Gathering" and my Mom loved it too.

If I were you I would go with the BC CL. Cl is great when you have kids and we never found the room too small. Do you have AP's? Lately the AP rates have been as good as the pin codes so you might still get a good discount. I know you'll miss the washer and dryer on BCV but the laundry room near the quiet pool at BC is very nice and you and your DH can swim with the kids while you're doing the laundry.

Have a great marathon trip!

Have you considered renting points from an owner? It is a huge savings and you get all the perks except mousekeeping.

That's how we got started staying on property and now we are DVC owners. There are lots of people on the DVC thread that could help you.

Thank you! I know you have a big family so if you think the CL rooms are big enough, I believe you! We're checking out the CL thing in 2 weeks and then see. We do have APs so I'm hoping for a good rate in August....

Thanks for the suggestion! I've considered renting points. I know it goes smoothly in most instances but I still have a slight fear of being scammed. We've been debating DVC for a few years now (especially as a family of 5) and still haven't decided! :confused3

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to everyone!!! :santa:

We'll be at the Poly in just about two weeks, too! Like Robyn, I grew up with the Poly so we're returning for our pre-schooler's short birthday trip. (We'll spend a little more time at MK than we usually do for that weekend.) But we'll be back at BC in February! With Amanda at the Poly and MickeyT at GF during marathon weekend, we'll look for fellow YC/BC Disers - do either of you have the YC/BC Diser pin yet?

Amanda, our family of five is very comfortable in a regular BC room, and our three boys are ages pre-school through pre-teen. But we don't need a lot of space and we don't spend a whole lot of time in the room. Our only request has been full balcony, which is really nice because it gives us a little more space. We got an unbelievable AP rate for our February trip to BC, so hopefully the summer deals will be just as great. Good luck with your decision!

No. Don't have one yet.......We did just add one night at the the end of our trip (Jan 10) at BCV's but I knew Teena would be gone so no time to coordinate this time. We will be back 'Home' in early August so will try and snag one then!

:littleangel:Merry Christmas Everyone:littleangel:!

I do not know if this will help your decision because everyone has different opinions but we stayed at BLT because we had 5 in our party as well this past October and really did not like our experience there. We usually always stay at the beach club but some in my party wanted to try something new and it turned out to be a big mistake. We spent a TON of money on a two bedroom villa at BLT it was worn down which was quite a surprise to me considering it is the newer hotel on property. and imo there is zero disney magic there..yes you can see the MK and that is fantastic but other than that it felt cold and very un disney like to me. We frequented the beach club quite often on our trip when we were staying at BLT and we were all really mad at ourselves that we decided to opt not to stay there. It seemed everything was a serious hike to get to from BLT.

There were 2 pros for staying at BLT:
view of MK
walk to MK

and a ton of negatives:
poorly maintained villas
no disney magic
housekeeping was nonexistent
the air conditioner is on a sensor and you have to be in the room for a couple of minutes before the air conditioner would kick in. I'm all for conserving the environment but after a long hot day in the park you want to come back to an air conditioned room...after we complained management did over ride this feature for us.

that same sensor is in the bathrooms as well for the fan. I would be in the shower and have to wave my arm out to make the sensor go off

the water in the showers was piercing

long walk to get to common areas..yes you will have the added convenience of the kitchen to make coffee but I really did not enjoy the walk over to the contemporary every time we needed something..Even if we wanted to catch a cab you have to walk over all the way over to the main building and down the lobby to get one.

no private areas where you could get some peace and quiet by the pools.

Like i said everyone has different opinions but imo BLT is seriously over rated on these boards.

Realized I haven't posted here in a while but we are leaving in about 11 days to go back to the YC. So excited to be going back! :)

We have paid for a garden view room. Any location information anyone could share? Last time we had a standard room but it seemed as if it might be a garden room (we overlooked a little cafe table and woods.) Just curious where we might be. We loved our last location so I'm crossing my fingers we are in that area again :)

Merry Christmas to all the friendly Y&BC//BCV fans here! :grouphug:

bean bunny, can't help but here's some pixie dust for the same location: pixiedust: Have a great trip.

Hi everyone. I have been sitting here reading all the info on BC (BCV) and loving it. We are going to be there Jan 31-Feb 5 for the first time. I have a few questions...
1) Is there anything besides SAB that we should not miss?
2) Anyone know the movies that are going to be out in Feb?
3) Anyone else going to be there when we are there??

I just wanted to thank you all for the info I have learned so far. You all are amazing!!

Hi Wirki!

Natebenma posts the movie schedules on the front page as they become available from http://buildabettermousetrip.com/activity-outdoormovie.php#beachclub and posters here often confirm the schedule as they visit YC/BC during the month. It seems like buildabettermousetrip.com doesn't always update the schedule until a few days after the 1st of each month, so I'm not sure that information will be available for February before you leave, but you can check.

I've been keeping track of the YC/BC Disers visiting in February, and here's what we have so far! Anyone else joining us in February? :wizard:
