Merry Christmas to my BC/YC friends!!!
We're heading to the World in 2 weeks (from today!) but staying at the Poly this time. I'm running the 1/2 marathon so we're bringing my parents along to help with the kids. My mom is 72 and has always dreamed of staying at the Poly. They love BC/YC but think of Poly as part of the "original" Disney World. We're staying CL for the 1st time so we'll see if we like that.
I'm hoping for a room-only discount for late August. We'll almost definitely return to BC/YC. I'm having a difficult decision. Last year we stayed in a one bedroom villa at BCV. We had a 40% room discount so we were able to swing it (we're not DVC). This year my little guy will be 3 so a one bedroom is out. The 2 bedrooms are very expensive if you pay cash. I can't decide if we should stay in a regular room at BC or maybe stay CL to get the lounge? Or maybe we need to consider a one bedroom at BLT since that'll sleep 5? I prefer the Epcot location since we tend to eat dinner at Epcot.... Opinions?

I do not know if this will help your decision because everyone has different opinions but we stayed at BLT because we had 5 in our party as well this past October and really did not like our experience there. We usually always stay at the beach club but some in my party wanted to try something new and it turned out to be a big mistake. We spent a TON of money on a two bedroom villa at BLT it was worn down which was quite a surprise to me considering it is the newer hotel on property. and imo there is zero disney magic there..yes you can see the MK and that is fantastic but other than that it felt cold and very un disney like to me. We frequented the beach club quite often on our trip when we were staying at BLT and we were all really mad at ourselves that we decided to opt not to stay there. It seemed everything was a serious hike to get to from BLT.
There were 2 pros for staying at BLT:
view of MK
walk to MK
and a ton of negatives:
poorly maintained villas
no disney magic
housekeeping was nonexistent
the air conditioner is on a sensor and you have to be in the room for a couple of minutes before the air conditioner would kick in. I'm all for conserving the environment but after a long hot day in the park you want to come back to an air conditioned room...after we complained management did over ride this feature for us.
that same sensor is in the bathrooms as well for the fan. I would be in the shower and have to wave my arm out to make the sensor go off
the water in the showers was piercing
long walk to get to common areas..yes you will have the added convenience of the kitchen to make coffee but I really did not enjoy the walk over to the contemporary every time we needed something..Even if we wanted to catch a cab you have to walk over all the way over to the main building and down the lobby to get one.
no private areas where you could get some peace and quiet by the pools.
Like i said everyone has different opinions but imo BLT is seriously over rated on these boards.
