2010 Mom's Panel Results along with lists of Round 2 & 3 Participants

TODAY IS THE DAY-THIS IS THE WEEK!

Go get 'em disboards people!!!!! Be yourself and let your love for Disney shine through!

We are living vicariously through you all!!!!!! Rah! Rah!

Good luck to all on your interviews today! pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

The souvenir that we always bring home are dated Christmas tree ornaments. We choose two family ornaments so that when the children are older and have families of their own and their own trees I will split all the ornaments in two boxes for them and they can each have a set of dated ornaments of all our trips to keep. :goodvibes

Todays general question is:

What one souvenir(s) do you bring home from every trip?

I always bring home:

1. A new snow globe -- I collect snow globes and most are from Disney. I try to buy the one w/ a year on it, but the globe for 2009 was too small, so this year I bought a globe that had the castle in the globe and Tinker Bell flying over it.

2. A magnet from each park and/or a magnet with the year on it

3. The scrapbook kit with the year on the papers/stickers

Good luck and pixie dust to the round 3ers this week. :cheer2:

Interviews start today! Good Luck all!

I always bring back a magnet with the date, tees for all, my DS gets something that lights up during SpectroMagic, so we have a collection of those.

Today is Day 7 in the countdown to Reveal day!

Todays general question is:

What one souvenir(s) do you bring home from every trip?

Wishing good luck to Zanna, Amanda and whoever else has their interviews today :)

There are several things that I bring home every trip:

1) About 5+ years ago, we started getting these albums on each trip:

We really like them because they hold 200 photos and there's a spot next to each photo to write a little memory, etc. It's like reading a story of each trip. I often find the kids sitting on the couch, reading through an album and smiling :) This, by the way, is just a portion of the albums :rotfl: there's more on the next shelf. Near the end of each trip, I quickly scan through the pics on my camera and decide how many are "keepers" and buy the right # of albums. It seems like 4 per trip is about what we end up with. One year I only bought 3 and once I was printing photos at home, I realized I needed another one. I called Disney and was able to order one to be sent to be from the store there. Only trouble was, my albums were brown and they had switched over to blue ones by then. Oh well. :)

2) Another "souvenir tradition" we have is we always get one of these (this is just a sample of the frames of course) :

A different "special frame" to commemorate that particular trip. We choose a family shot to put in it. Some are in Epcot in front of Spaceship Earth, others are at Animal Kingdom, etc. I love picking out "THE" frame each time. :)

3) The final thing we bring home every trip is a dated Christmas ornament from the "Days of Christmas" store :lovestruc . I've mentioned it before, but Christmas and Disney are 2 of my very favorite things :)

Oh, and a couple other things (sorry)...my boys pick new pins for their Pin Trading collection and my little girls generally bring a new stuffy. All the kids get new t-shirts too. :)

If anyone knows a way to contact Dannee, I would like to do so. Today is her day on this thread. :confused3

We usually do the traditional Resort or year themed refillable mugs. We have way too many of them on the shelf here.

My parents do a Christmas ornament every year. Last year they got a hand blown one from a craftsman outside of the Germany pavilion. It is so beautiful!

My favorite souvenir is one I did not bring home and actually one I have not seen yet. :lmao: DD honeymooned at the Beach Club and is bringing us a grandchild! Now that is a souvenir that will last a lifetime! :goodvibes

That is the best souvenir I have ever heard of....also the one that requires the most maintenance! :rotfl:

I always bring back ornaments, and ALWAYS a dated one from our resort. Great to think back on our Disney memories as we are setting up the Christmas tree each year!

Good luck and much pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust: to all those interviewees this week!

How exciting, Laura (Moms Panel) just posted:

"Today is a big day. Lots of "special" calls to make."

Thinking of all of you with your Interviews today...may you sparkle and shine. :) Looking forward to my chance tomorrow :)

My interview is done! It was great talking to everyone on the phone, I think I let my nerves get the better of me. I said everything I wanted to say for the most part but I sounded almost out of breath talking because of the nerves! I hope they can see past that! :scared1:

Best of luck to all the other finalists!! pixiedust: :goodvibes :cheer2:

My interview is done as well, so now the waiting begins . . . .

Thanks so much everyone for the good wishes and pixie dust today. I am so touched by everyone's kind words. I know I'm so fortunate to have gotten this far in the process; I hope I don't let my fellow disboarders down!

;)

Just wanted to send good wishes to everyone, I hope all your interviews will go well/have gone well. :thumbsup2

It's going to be a very tough decision to choose the final panel, from what I've seen here, you all deserve it. :)

I have to let you know that I've made the very heartbreaking decision to withdraw from the Moms Panel interviews, due to unforeseen family circumstances - school stuff, big exams - the last date of which now clashes with the training dates. I simply cannot leave my son Sam (11) to deal with that without me, and being so far from home it would be impossible to get back home in time. Very difficult to give up a dream, but in another way a simple decision as Sam has to come first. Just thought I should let you know.

Sue,

My heart goes out to you. I know how important the panel is to you. I am sure it was one of the hardest decisions you have ever made - but you put family first, and that should make you feel good. You are a great Mom! :grouphug:

I hope someday you can follow your Mom's Panel dreams :) :wizard:

Oh Sue, I'm so sorry you had to make that decision!! It's so hard to be a good mom and put family first but you are such a wonderful mom and person to do that...Big Hugs to you... :grouphug:

Okay Jud, here is the low down. My family was visiting Las Vegas in 1963 when Elvis and Ann Margret were filming the movie Viva Las Vegas.
We had just driven across the dessert, with no A/C in the car and me car sick most of the way. :scared1:

We arrived at the motel and my bother and I could not wait to get into the pool. It was a lovely pool with the neatest shape. It was scalloped all around the edges. Of course Mom had to take a photo and then I jumped into the pool and my DB did a swan dive off the hight dive. As we both started to enjoy the water the life guards blew their whistles and cleared the pool. I was not happy!

Here they had begun filming one of the pool scenes and we were not allowed in the water. They had special people who were brought in to just swim in the back ground. We were then directed to take up places in the lounge chairs around the pool area, so we got to be background. At the time I was not a happy 7 year old. I wanted in the water. My father said he had not been told about the filming or we would have found rooms in another hotel.:lmao:

At one point they did film my brother diving off the high dive. He was a very skilled swimmer and diver. He is 16 almost 17 in the pic and I am 7.

Here is a youtube clip from the movie.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDKbmDP472Q

If you go to about second 57 you can see one of the pool scenes.

The worst thing of all of this is my father took no pictures of Elvis at all. He did take a few of Ann Margret though! :rotfl:

And I am sure when you got older, you understood! LOL!

Great story! I have seen the movie. Did your brother's dive make it to the final cut? Round 3 as it were?

I have been away the last several days- okay, I was at Disney... so am way behind and frankly doubt I am going to read through every page here, so if I missed anything I should see, please let me know!

Oh... got to check off the last thing on my Disney must do list- I did the best water slide! The boat at Y&B Club!!! YES!

Also did the brand new Sum of all Thrills attraction in Interventions East! Awesome!!!

And MNSSHP... movie soon...

:)

Jud

Sue I know what a hard decision it was for you and I'm so sorry but Sam has to come first and, as I've said to you, I've been through those 11+ exams and he'll need you. You're a wonderful Mum and would have been an asset to the panel, I'm sorry
