Did someone on this board post a MK Fireworks viewing map? I printed one of these out and I was going to print the others at a later date (the later date being now) and now I can't find them on line. This map was a birds eye view of Magic Kingdom and it is colored coded with green being the best viewing area to watch. I would like to take these with me so I know where the best places are. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Hi Becky,
Don't need no map! The fireworks in MK are designed for a very specific view, and anything else is secondary. They are designed to be viewed from Main Street. Best location if you have the patience and quick movement to grab it is right behind the rope at the cross walk space running across the street at the end of the shops. (That way, no one is in front of you or the little ones for at least 6 feet!)
Other than that, anywhere on Main Street.
There are also those few who are willing to stake out a spot hours ahead of time and take a seat at the front center of the upper deck at the Main Street Rail Road Station.
The idea with the show is the bursts are supposed to radiate around or drape down over the castle. Because the actual launch sites are at various locations in and outside the park, this requires you to be in front of the castle to get the full effect.
AND requires a night with little or no wind to divert them to one side or another. The large bursts actually launch half a mile or so behind the castle.
If you watch them from the 4th floor 'porch' of the Contemporary, you will actually see the 'spurts' go off from the rooftops beside the castle, while the big bursts will appear to be somewhere behind Space Mountain. Actually, so see my 4th of July vid of that show to see this. Forgot about that! Not a great vid, but makes the point.
