2010 Disneyland Half - where are you staying? IT'S HERE - Almost!

DH and I will both be doing the half and we're staying at the GCH. We finally booked our hotel tonight! We'll be driving or flying in on 9/3 and staying through 9/7.

Is anyone else doing the Hal Higdon novice training schedule?

I am. I am on week 3 day 3. It will have me finishing the program a few weeks early but since it ends with 10 miles I will repete the last week a few times becasue I really want to try the 13.1 miles before the Half Marathon.

I run and walk the miles becasue I can't keep it up the whole time but I plan to run/walk the race anyway. I do noticethat I can run for longer periods of time now and at a faster pace. I have been doing most of my training on the tredmill at the gym because I had no way to know for far I was going outside. But I just got the Nike+ shoe thingy to use with my iPhone but now it's been too windy to run out side. :sad2:

We've decided we're going to drive. That way we can check DD7 out of school mid-way through Friday (checking out early doesn't count for an absence!) and we can still get down there before dark. It will also allow us to pack an ice chest with some healthy food options. Not that we won't hit a few park favorites, but on Friday and Saturday, especially, I don't want to load up on typical DLR offerings of high carb/high fat food. What types of meals do you usually eat the night before the Disneyland Half? Do you eat at one of the restuarants? Or do you bring something from home?

Hi!

I'm running the half again and staying at the Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites.

There are plenty of resturants within walking distances around Disneyland. There is Mimi's right by HoJo, & the Garden Walk mall has Bubba Gumps, Roy's PF Changs, CA pizza kitchen, Cheese cake factory.

If you have a car you can drive down S. Harbor Dr and there is a Bucca De Beppo, Joe's crab shack & a few other resturants. There is also a Target and Von's (grocery store) down S. Harbor Dr.

The parks have "ok" pasta if that is what you are looking for the night before. Someone mentioned the Gardenwalk restaurants and that is a great choice.

I just moved to orange county (15 minutes from the parks) and may splurge on one of the Disney hotels as my welcome to Cali present to myself. I hate mornings so every extra minute I can get would be great.

Also love the idea of World of Color Sunday night. I am sitting in line waiting for for the show right now. It is amazing!!!!

Happy training everyone.

Staying at VGC. DH 1/2, myself and DD 5k, 4yr.old DS 200 yd. Dash! We can't wait!!!:woohoo:

My wife & I are both doing the 1/2. Staying at Grand Californian. Arrivie Wedneday the 1st, flying home Monday the 6th. :dance3:

Updated! party:

Joan, DH & I are staying at the Fairfield Inn - should be a good area. We *might* move over to the Candy Cane Inn, not sure yet.

Good to see all these WISHers participating! :cheer2:

Just changed to the Crowne Plaza. Apparently it is a little closer and the pool looks a lot nicer. My strategy is to enjoy the pool after the race. :)

We are getting close!!

I'm doing both, 5K w/ sister and dad. We're staying at Best Western Anaheim Friday night, then Disneyland Hotel Saturday and Sunday.

My BF and I are staying at the Hilton Anaheim...he's running the half and I'm cheering :cheer2: We're finding that it may save us a bundle to fly into LAX rather than SNA but we really don't want to rent a car and deal with the hassle of driving and navigating...can anyone recommend a good shuttle service from LAX to Anaheim that you have used in the past?

Cripey - cheering is a lot of fun! There will be quite a few of us wearing the lime green WISH shirts. Any and all cheers coming our way will be greatly appreciated! :teeth:

We fly into LAX as well because of the price. We use Super Shuttle (www.supershuttle.com) to get us to Anaheim. I think it's one of the recommended shuttles to use. We've never had a problem with them.

wonderful, thanks for the info!

Anyone else? 5 more weeks! Getting ready to do the happy dance. :cool1:

To anyone taking one of the shuttles. Here's a link to the Anaheim/Orange Country Visitors Bureau coupons page. There is one for SuperShuttle (I used it to get son to LA and back, so not just valid for Disney) There are also coupons for other things as well.

Thanks, Maura! I'll have to do more digging as the one for super shuttle expired at the end of May. Some of the others expire at the end of August. However, the codes still might be good or there may be another link with some updated coupons. This just reminds me that we need to be looking out for coupons for our trip.
