2010 Disneyland Half Registration !!!FULL!!! !!5k NOW FULL!! !!Kids Races NOW FULL!!

Great, thanks for the info.

not sure if we are going to do DL or not but figure booking the hotel room early gets you the best price.

I would love a coast to coast medal.

Thanks everyone.

Is that the one at 1380 South Harbour?

Kim - That is the Howard Johnson's John & I stayed at. It was just over a half mile to the park entrances & a little over a mile from the half finish. We were able to get the Entertainment Book Rate. Paid $59 a night. We didn't have an Entertainment Book, so bought just the Entertainment Card on Ebay for $3 (including postage). We have no complaints at all. The room was clean & great for what we needed. I would have no problem staying there again.

sorry for the hijack, but question for Padstack, have you done the Surf City 1/2 in the past? I'm thinking that may be my next, but wanted to see what you thought of it (noticed your sig...)

thanks for the indulgence everyone :goodvibes

This will be my first time running the Surf City. In fact, the DL Half was my first long distance race (over 10k). I have heard good and bad things about the race, but the medals are just too cool to pass up. What better way to justify all of the drinking and eating that will occur during the Super Bowl than to burn 1,800 calories (my DL 1/2 calorie burn) first thing in the morning?

I am hoping for a code, too! They are for sure doing Coast to Coast again in 2010, it was advertised on the back of the program this year that was in our race packets.

lol, this is how I sold it to my running partner as well! thanks :lmao:

Now that I am done with the Disney Princess Half, I am ready to focus on this one after my two week break. Anyone registered for this one? It looks like it should be fun. I am interested in any lessons learned from previous years with the Disneyland Half. The Disney Princess was my first half marathon and so I learned a few things from that like that porta potties are in high demand. Maybe with the temperatures being warmer in September, I will be able to sweat out the water and sports drinks! ;)

I sooo wish I could do it, I could get the Coast to Coast medal. But I somehow don't think DH is going to let me go to Cali alone since we have never been to DL before. Plus the cost, as this years trip is costing quite a bit already. But hey, maybe if I win the lottery................:rotfl:

I am revising this. We are going to DL!! And I am getting my Coast to Coast medal!! Our friends who live in LA convinced DH that we should go, so he gave in. We are staying at the DL hotel, since we will only be there from Fri to Mon. Can't wait!!

That is great news!! :D I got to hold the coast to coast medal at the Expo before the Disney Princess Half and it is a must have!!

How quickly does the DL Half fill up? Does it fill as quickly as the WDW Half does?

Thanks Maura for the link. I have joined that discussion. :) As far as how fast the Disneyland Half fills up, I have heard it is one of the more popular races and being that it falls over Labor Day Weekend, a lot of people participate in it because they have the time off already. Just sign up for it. :cool1: Hal Higdon has 12 week training plans for either walkers or runners. So, there is no excuse!! ANYONE can do this!! :yay: I looked at doing this before the Disney Princess this year - I think it was around April or May and it was already full. So, I wouldn't wait.

The DL 1/2 didn't fill until 7/13/09 last year. That was only 1 1/2 months before the race. The first year it filled fast but doesn't fill fast at all now. It is less than 6 months away and still not even 50% full. I would expect it to take until August this year.

Thanks. I think I'll just have to wait and see. With 2 trips to WDW this year, I don't know if I can sneak in a DL trip as well, but I'll try!

I wonder if it will end up being more popular being that it is the 5th Anniversary and has an extra special medal? I would start training regardless if you are interested but want to wait and see.

It seems like they waited longer to put the discount code out there this year. Maybe they were waiting to see how it would fill without the discount?

Thanks for all the great tips. I'm watching air fare prices & working on making my hotel ressie.

This may seem silly, but how do you let them know you are eligible for the coast to coast? Do you get it right after you finish or do they send it to you?

Thanks!

I asked this question as well, they said they cross reference entrants to see who is eligible for the C2C. I don't know if they give it to you right there or not. Maybe someone else will know??:confused3
