Hoping right along with you...we're debating where to go for a go-warmer-places vacation in January. If Disney's is good enough, we'll probably repeat our January 2009 trip ... a few days at the beach, then brief Disney visit.

Last year, except for MLK Jr. weekend, they had some great discounts last January....I think the buy 4 get 3 free deal started the day after MLK Jr. Day because we were there then (only there for 2 days, so we booked a "winter getaway" rate that was around 27% off our room.)

We went Jan 4-11 last year on the 4/3 deal, then added a night at POP for $49 through Travelocity. For 7 nights and 8 days it was $1400 plus we got a $200 gift card. There will be more good deals this year, I'm sure.

Hmmmm.....

Noticing something interesting about the link above. In the description of the MYW QS plan and MYW DxDDP plan, there is no mention of dates. BUT, in the description of the MYW DDP plan, there IS a mention of dates (they look like Value and Regular season dates).

Is there a chance you won't be able to book the regular DDP during certain times of year (i.e. Summer)?! Guess we won't know for sure until packages can be booked.

I didn't read that but you are exactly right! WOW! They leave a ton of dates out.

Quoted from the Disney Website...

This plan offers one table-service meal, one quick-service meal and one snack per person, per night of your package stay, at over 100 select restaurants at Walt Disney World Resort—including some restaurants that feature Disney Character Dining...

I can't wait to find out more about this, because this would drastically change dining at Disney.

I noticed that too. Maybe they are making up for all the free dinning this year?:confused3

I called today and the CM on the phone said that the basic DDP is available every day of 2010. I asked specifically for the dates of my trip in July 2010 and the CM said yes, you can add on the basic DDP for those dates and any date. I asked what is included and she said 1 CS, 1 TS and 1 snack per night per person. I asked for the price and here is what she told me (basic DDP price only):

$47 per night per adult
$13 per night per child ages 3-9

So the price has gone up considerably, mainly for the adults. Children are only $2 more than 2009.

For our 10-night trip the DDP would cost $1200. This year it would have cost us $1020.

I hope the CM was giving me the right info and that the DDP is available all days of 2010. I crunched some numbers and even with the price increase it would still save us money off of what we would order (even if paying OOP for everything and not getting a dessert at CS lunches).

Wow! I just crunched our numbers, can't post right now, but we saved considerably with the DP as well (I even adjusted for desserts/beverages we wouldn't have normally ordered - plus we didn't get desserts every time at all), and would still save with the $47.00 (I'm assuming it's $46.99).

That is a huge increase - can't wait to hear more. Hopefully, they have done away with those silly dining surcharges for most of the summer, as these new prices, if indeed correct, might be difficult for some families to swing it as that could add a considerable cost to the per day prices of dining.

Disney is definitely at the helm of a vicious cycle - keep raising already inflated dining prices, then add surcharges, then up the dining plan so the values are all inflated.

Thanks for sharing - waiting for the official word, Tiger

I just went to Disney's site and it let me book a package. The price came out to $46.99 per night to add the dining plan although the description says for less than $42 per night. I wonder if it's not working correctly yet as it seems $41.99 would be more in line.

The quick service came up to $31.99.

The deluxe was $71.99.

I was just looking for more information about 2010 dining plan prices. Did anyone else notice that the date restrictions seem to be only listed for the basic dining plan - not the quick service or premium?!! Or am I missing something? Here's hoping that we'll be able to book basic dining for May!

When I tried to book a pkg for 2010 the dining plan came out to $41.99/day for 1 adult.

That's interesting. I also got $41.99 when I put in a January, May and September dates but 46.99 when picking dates in March, April and July.
Someone else give it a try and see if you get the same result.

Just chatted online with a CM. He told me that we could book basic dining for July but didn't say why the dates were listed. When I asked about the price, he said he didn't have that information yet. But 41.99 sound better to me than 47!

Hmmm, I wonder if they're doing different "seasons" for the DDP now. :confused3

I certainly hope not. But I wouldn't be surprised...if people see a better deal on the DDP in January when it tends to be less crowded, maybe it would make them book during that time (and maybe even nudge them to get the DDP when they normally may not have), then the resorts, restaurants and parks would fill up more than usual. Sort of along the same lines as the free dining promotion during the less-busy times of year. A lower price would appeal to people whose travel dates are flexible. Unfortunately for us we have to go during peak seasons because we are teachers and have school-aged children as well. So July works best for us, since we drive down and will be staying for 10 nights at a time.

I think that MAY be the case. Look at this blurb. It talks about saving 30% using the dining plan but then gives specific dates it can save you that amount.

Absolutely sounds like 'seasons' or the added surcharge.

I just told my DH and he's livid - we are DVC members, and so we have a full kitchen in our villa, so he's not a happy camper right now. I have convinced him to wait for the official word, so hopefully it's $41.99 for all dates, and not seasons or our home is going to be an unhappy place...

Exactly...and what's missing from these dates? Peak times...Christmas week, the days just after New Year's, Feb. President's week, Easter week, peak summertime.
