Does anyone know approximately when the Swan/Dolphin Teacher/Education Staff rates will be released for 2009? We are planning a trip from Dec. 29-Jan. 4 and thought it might be nice to stay at the Dolphin if they drop their rates after Jan. 1.

I have never heard of these, but have seen a lot of people talk about them on boards. Can you explain to me? Do you have to teach in FL or anywhere? What kind of rates are they usually? Are the swan/dolphin still included in magical express, etc.?

No magical express for swan/dolphin but you do get extra magic hours. You need a teachers ID from anywhere, nurses and government employees can also get discount. Sometimes it is about 169/nite

You have to be a teacher or "educational support staff" to qualify for the discounts. If you don't have an ID - my school doesn't have them - you need to bring your most current pay stub.

Their rates are already out. I called over a month ago and got a quote. I'm not sure the rates are ever published because they're always having some sort of promotion or discount. But give them a call and they'll give you a rate. I think the teacher rate I got quoted for August was about $195 per night.

I booked today for June '09--standard room is $189 with the teacher rate.

We're booked for the week between Christmas 2009 and New Years 2010. $209 is the teacher rate for the holiday season....but we have to add an additional $25 per night, as our older son in over 18. $234 is a great deal better than around $400 per night for a standard room!! Hoping to have enough Starwood points built up by that time to get the last night for free....as it is Jan. 2, 2010, and the teacher rate doesn't apply for that night!

How did you do this? I called two weeks ago and booked my room but the person I spoke with said that the 2009 rates hadn't been released yet. So I booked a room for 225 for June 2009 and can change it if the discount is released. Should I call back to see if I can change it?
Thanks!!!
