Okay, so I was wondering if any of you guys/castmembers out there have the inside scoop on what the 2009 Disney Dining Plan will include? I know that many many people were upset with the 2008 Dining Plan. Just wondering if there was any word on the 2009 plan.

ANYONE? Bumping this up b/c I'm waiting to book till I KNOW!

THANKS! ::yes::

Okay.. I am NOT a cast member (duh) but last night I got some wierd news..

Nothing about the contents of the plan really but my grandmother was getting quotes through her TA who is a Disney Specialist (I believe) and quoted her at getting the 3 meals 2 snacks plan for all of us for 12 days for 37.99 each day per person!

Isn't that $32 LESS than it costs through disney? I was talking to them over the phone but my parents looked at all of her information and they said it seems legit. 3 meals, 2 snack Dinning plan for 37.99 per person per day.

Does this means serious changes are coming to the plans????

Could your grandmother have been inquiring about going during free dining? I know that they are offering the DxDDP for 37.99 per day during free dining.

That's what I was thinking. No way they'd give all that any other time of year for that price.

Thats what I thought, But she gave her the dates (February 2009) And thats what she (the TA) was calling in regards to!

I know the prices are not out yet so... she may have been confused... but everyone seemed very adament that the correct dates and plan had been asked about... and the TA even said that she was very pleased with the deal she'd be able to get us.

She got us pretty good deals last time (our first trip to WDW) but nowhere NEAR this good... I hope it's true... but... maybe I will update everyone when I find out more!

There was another thread on this topic a few days ago. Here's a link to that thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1858109

I don't think there is any authoritative info out there -- just speculation.

I personally don't see Disney improving DDP, as you'll see from my posts in the other thread. But I have no inside info at all...just guessing, based on what I've seen the last few years.

It will be interesting to see if they book that and what they end up with, if the actual res will match the TA's quote. (And of course figuring anything would be the standard per night per person, rather than per day per person.)

I think the upgrade from Free DDP to Deluxe is $32.99...no?

ETA: Or actually, I guess it's just $32.00.

Sorry, your grandmother's TA is WRONG. The price being quoted is the regular DDP ($37.99) but the description is deluxe dining. That would mean Disney's giving you like $90 worth of food a day for $38. There is no way in the world (or, more specifically, in the World) that Disney is offering that rate for the Deluxe plan....just because TAs are so-called "Disney Specialist" doesn't mean they know what they are doing.

I have no inside knowledge, but I suspect that the changes will be minimal. Just judging from the boards here, there was an iniital uproar over the changes, but the comments calmed down pretty rapidly....the DDP is not nearly the deal it was a year ago, but still pretty easily saves you 20-25%. They can't really take away much more without losing the real value of using it. My guess is you will see a $1 to $2 increase with the same basic structure.

Okay... calm down...

First of all.. disney IS offering the deluxe plan for that cheap! It's called a promotion and they do it once a year (recently at least) durring September.

So the fact that WDW WOULDN'T do it, is not really accurate, now, would they do it any old time for anybody. No, I don't think so. But hypothetically, a really knowledgeable TA with good relations with WDW could potentially get you deals not offered to everyone just because they constistantly get lots of people into the parks to spend a lot of money. It' IS possible.

This case however, it is not true.

I had the oppourtunity to quickly look over the pages she printed out and found what my family had missed. It explicity lists that you get 1 TBS and 1 CS and 1 Snack. So... no joyusly great deal on the deluxe plan...

Yet.

Keeping my fingers crossed,

Several of our last vacations to WDW were booked thru a AAA TA who was suppose to be a WDW specialist....and I had to explain to her about the dining plans and costs. Also WDW has not offered a promo which would allow anyone to get the DxDDP for the price of the DDP. The FD promo was......get the DDP free and upgrade for $32.00. In my experience.....most of the TAs know very little about WDW....the Dis knows much, much more!

Disney has ALOT of different components to it and can be intimidating to some T.A. to learn. Especially because there are so many destinations around the world that they are also trying to sell. In my opinion I think each office should have atleast 1 T.A. that is a specialist. (& I mean specialist!, not just someone who took a couple of courses... I mean sell Disney most of the day specialist.)
