A wise and sage saying of Kahlil Gibran 1883-1931 (who by the way was Lebanese)

"Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding. Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain."

Screw this guy.... I don't "MUST KNOW PAIN" thank you very much.

I am so ashamed! I have been negligent in my ignorance. I feel I have let you all down. I am not worthy of your friendship, so I will no longer be able to post on the dis. Please, please, don't beg, I have to do this for the betterment of the community! It has been fun, but alas, all good things must come to an end. Fare thee well good friends, do not go quietly into that good night. Good bye and so long.

Ok, talk to yins tomorrow!

Ok, before I ignore this, I just want to say that was a cruel thing to do, Denise. The only thing worse would be if you did "It's a Small World" instead! :rotfl2:

Now, back to our regularly scheduled ignorance....er, I mean, ignoring of the thread.;)

he also said....

To understand the heart and mind of a person,
look not at what s/he has already achieved, but at what s/he aspires to do.

My dad gave me this book. An old worn copy given to him by a friend. I picture him in the early 70's smoking something and discussing it's depth.

Reading The Prophet & discussing it while "under the influence of a particular species of plant that promoted highly intellectual conversations" was what made you a cool person in the 70's. Therefore....I was a cool person!! None of us understood what the heck Gilbran was trying to say, but we thought we did. The other highly philosophical book of the 70's was The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. I read, therefore I'm cool.:rotfl2:

In the 70's I was reading The Pippi Longstocking series of books, boy were they deep. Am I cool ? :lmao:

I happen to think this is extremely deep, and as long as you were drinking some chocolate milk while reading then you were absolutley cool!

"She had no mother and no father, and that was of course very nice because there was no one to tell her to go bed just when she was having the most fun, and no one who could make her take cod liver oil when she much preferred caramel candy."
