2008, 24th/28th Aug - *Double Dipping with the Bahama Mamas* (Part 2)

Hi guys

Well Em had another "spell" last night around 7:45.. Mark paged our Ped and Em and I made the 13 mile drive to the ER.. Our ped is feeling pretty confident that it is not a seizure she is having. She is seriously considering this has something to do with her cortisol production. She has enough when she is well, but when she gets sick she can't bump it up. We were there for about 45 minutes and Em seemed to be doing ok so she let us go home.

We have a pretty good pattern established now. She only does this when she is sick with a fever and is waking up.

She actually just called while I was typing this and told me if she does it again we are going to do the blood work Boston wants and then do the cortisol after. We can do that one at any time apparently.

I am remarkably calm... It scares me! :scared1:

I hope you are all well! I am trying to catch up with you all!

:grouphug:

Jen - glad things are starting to establish a pattern, maybe it will start making some sense and they can figure out how to help her! When are you heading back to Boston? June, right?

How is Em today? How are you holding up?

Hope all is well!
Laurie

Mandy - Good Morning to you!!

Sounds like you have another busy day ahead! I HATE curtain shopping though, that's the worst!! But, the night out sounds great!! Where do you think you might be heading for dinner?

I am excited that our flight is finally booked, and it is late enough to do my breakfast!! :yay: Being we are only doing the park one day this WHOLE year - I have to make the best of it, and see all the characters that I can! LOL

Alright, gotta start moving here!

I should be able to check in before the day really starts! LOL

Have a good one girls!

It's all quiet here at the moment. Paul is taking the girls to pick their friends up and drop them at the concert

I didn't get Becky's curtains, she's after a really bright pink pair, and she can't find the right shade (oh joy :rotfl2: ). I did manage to get a few more FE gifts though

Hey Jen, how is Em today ? I really hope that she's feeling much better and that the doctors are going to get to the bottom of her problem

..................................

Well my luck with things breaking down continues :sad2: On the way to Coventry, my car broke down. Thankfully the AA came out within 30 minutes and he managed to get it started and he followed me back to the repair garage. It was a real pain, but in a way it was good that it happened then, as we were planning to take the girls to the concert in it. Paul then dropped me and Becky in Coventry and we had a good wander around the shops

Later we're hoping to go for a nice meal - I really could do a with glass of wine right now :rotfl2: it's been a stressful morning ;)

On a brighter note - all my washing is washed, dried and ironed - whooppee !

Wow mandy first the washer then the stove now the car...maybe you shouldn't touch any more electronic things for a while...lol

Is the car o.k. now or are they working on it?

Jen, Sorry to hear that em had another episode again.:sad2: Ihope they figure out what is going on with her soon.

Laurie, I am here...woohoo..No job hunting for today. I will explain all later on aim.:)

WHOO HOOO! Michele is playing hooky!:cool1:

Hey Guys

Em has had a good day.. No more weirdness yet today! Only 3 hours to go!

I can't believe it was 80 here today! I was in shorts! It was heaven! It looks like a nice week!

Hope you are all doing well! I miss you:sad2:

Hey Bahama Mamas!

Jen, I hope Em is doing better. It is so scary when you havea child with a high fever. I was an EMT for 9 years and handle lots of stuff, but when it comes to my kids, I often feel helpless, especially with illnesses. I can handle bumps, bruises, and blood.

Sorry, I am not on that much, I spend so much of my day on this darn computer that I don't like to spend much of my "spare" time on it. Come to think of it, what is spare time?? :confused3 Sami had a talent show last night, she and her little friend did a routine to the Ebay song by Weird Al. It was cute for 2nd graders. Becca has level 6 sectionals tomorrow so she packed in an extra couple of hours of training today so that shot most of my day. She is fighting shin splints so training has been painful. She should be resting, but states is in 2 weeks. Hopefully she can take a week off after states! Tomorrow is shot with the competition in the middle of the day. i have to do the Circus on Wed Night and Grand parents day on Friday. theni am working at a meet we are hosting on Saturday and then on Sunday at a 5k Run that honors the memory of friend of mine whose 9 year old who was stuck by a car and killed several years ago.

I know, I'm not having much luck at all :confused3 The car is back in the garage, and they can't do anything with it till Monday - I hate to think how much it's going to cost :(

We are at the bottom ladies...:confused3 .i called in sick to work tonight..woohoo..

Where was everyone yesterday ? What have you all been up to ? I hope you had a great day.

I hope everything went well last night Michele with all Jeffs friends being round (that would've been my idea of a nightmare :rotfl2: :rotfl2: )

I hope you enjoyed your evening off ;)

Hey Diane, I'm glad you found the time to drop in and 'see' us :) Wow, it sounds like you've got a busy week ahead of you - have a great time :thumbsup2

...................................

Morning Bahama Mamas

The girls had a great time at the Simple Plan concert, and thankfully they didn't go mad buying the merchandise, but came home with a nice poster each. Paul & I had a lovely evening too. We went to our fave Italian restaurant (which is where we go for a glass of wine on a Friday night), and we had stuffed potato skins, lasagne, garlic bread and a bottle of wine. Afterwards we got a taxi down to the 18th birthday party that we were invited to. The family who's daughter was 18, are Disney fans too, and have been to WDW a few times, and they've booked to go from August 13th, so that'll be great to run into them again over there :thumbsup2

At the party we ran into some of Pauls ex workmates, and we had a lovely evening chatting and having a good laugh

We got home just before the girls were due home, and we had all had a great evening

This morning I've got a thick head, I think I had far too many Smirnoff Ice's, and I'm going to suffer today :rotfl: :rotfl:

At some point today Paul & I will go and visit his elderly aunt, and hopefully I'll just sleep on the sofa for the rest of the day :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

As it's Sunday, no doubt I'll watch the Disney Wonder leave Port Canaveral tonight with some of you, before I head off to bed

   Woohoo !! It's 18 Weeks till our Cruise

Wow Diane! You are one busy lady! I don't think I could keep up with you!

*************************************

Good morning everyone!

I am back to using exclamations! Thanks again for all of your care and concern about Em. I just can't wait to figure this out! Enough said!

I hope you all have a "Wonderful" day! It is going to be really nice here again.. Sunny and in the 70's! We may go to Mark's brother's house later for a BBQ...Anyone else have any big plans?

Sandy I hope you are doing well!

Michele.. I miss our chats!

Laurie... I just miss ya!

Mandy...I need to get on your schedule or quit my job so we can chat!

Veronica... Hope you have a fun trip!

Danielle.. How's it going? How's Keegan?

A big hi to everyone else!

Catch you later!

Good morning everyone!

I only have a few minutes since the kids are driving me crazy to have breakfast and go down to the pool (its too early).

Jen - Hope Em is doing well!

Mandy - Sorry about the car. Hope its repaired soon and without too much expense. I'm glad you were able to enjoy your day yesterday.

Laurie - Woo Hoo Mets! Loved the picture - I know you had a great time. I will have to get details from you.

Michele - How are things with the job?

Diane - Enjoy your busy weekend!

Sandy - Are you still visiting your mom? Hope it was a nice visit.

Sorry if I missed anyone. I'm rushing this morning. We had a horrible first half of a trip on Friday - TRAFFIC! It took us over 2 hours just to get off Long Island then we hit traffic in NJ (usual Friday night stuff) and Delaware (construction delays). The trip to our stopping point just south of DC should have taken about 5 hours or so and it took us 9! We got to the hotel around midnight and since Emily slept alot in the car she decided to wake up and stay awake until 2:30am:scared: Luckily yesterday was much better. We did a little outlet shopping (including making some purchases at the Disney and Lego outlets) then drove down to NC arriving at my mom's around dinner time (Emily screamed "I'm stuck" for only the last hour of the trip). Its cloudy this morning but the sun is supposed to come out and we are hoping to go to a farmers market then to a nice park so the kids can run.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. I will try to check back tonight.

Hey Jen !

It sounds like you're going to have a nice day today ! Have fun at the BBQ !

It would be fun if you quit your job, but that's a bit extreme for a chat, don't you think ! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I really hope we catch up with each other later !

BTW, Loving the exclamation marks !!!!!!! ;)

I'm pleased to hear that you got to your moms safely, though the traffic sounded horrendous. I hope the weather brightens up for you and that you enjoy the farmers market and the park later

Have a lovely trip :)

.......................................

I hope you're all having a nice morning. Paul & I visited his aunt this morning, and on the way home, I decided that I was far too tired to cook today, so we picked the girls up and we had lunch at our fave Chinese buffet

I feel totally stuffed now :rotfl2: so I might have a nap this afternoon :rotfl:

Catch up with you later :thumbsup2

Chat later :thumbsup2

Well girls, I'm finally back home. Granny is doing well and my mom's yard is looking great. We did 2 days worth of yard work for her and being the old lady that I am I was too tired to even read the boards. Yesterday we spent all day with my in-laws it was fun. We all hadn't been together since before Christmas. I will try and check in a bit later, I'm off to try and get some things unpacked. See everyone tomorrow for sure!:surfweb:

Well Ladies..

Sorry I haven't been around all day - it's been a lazy day - but, for some reason, I've neglected the boards - Hopefully I'll be back on track tomorrow at work!

Mandy - sounds like you had a great weekend! (except for the car thing)

Sandy - great to have you back! Seems like you were quite productive while you were away! Back to school for the kids tomorrow, right?

Michele - I hope things calm down over there, sounds like it is totally NUTs, between the inlaws and Nicole - UGH! I think you could use a drink!

Veronica - hope you are having a great time in NC! I am watching the Mets now, NOT liking what I am seeing! And it's only getting worse! :scared1:

Jen - It was great chatting today - how is Em doing? Back to work for you tomorrow too!! I hate the fact that you are at work ALL day! LOL

Suzanne - Where did you go???????????

Diane - Great hearing from you! Hope all is well on your end!

Well, I am off to bed! Talk to you guys tomorrow!

I am trying to catch up over the last few days posts...

Jen, I'm glad to hear Em's feeling better. It's very scary to go through episodes like that. Keegan's doing great right now, thanks. He still can't run long distances until his next CT scan but is doing everything else including baseball games and not having pain.

Michele, I'm sorry about all of the stress your in laws are putting you through about your house.

Sounds like everyone else had a great weekend and fun on their trips.

I hope the Mets won for Laurie and Veronica.

Mandy, I hope nothing breaks for you this week!

We were in the mid-80's here on Saturday for the opening day of baseball. It was nice not to be in jackets on opening day for the first time in several years. I sprayed myself good with sunscreen but forgot the V in my v neck t-shirt so I've got a lovely sunburned chest. It poured all day long yesterday with several thunder storms and it's still very overcast today and we're expecting more rain. Of course now the grass I cut twice last week is in need of a good cut again.

My sister came down for a visit on Saturday which was nice. She didn't bring her dog this time so it was extra pleasant having her here.

Yesterday we went to church and then spent a good couple of hours clearing out the outgrown clothes in Keegan's closet. I can't believe he had accumulated so many shirts in the last couple of years. He has a walk in closet that's about 5 X 6 feet and I usually just put stuff in there and leave. We were having a hard time fitting hangers in there and made him go through them with us to take out the outgrown ones. We filled up two 36 gallon rubbermaid buckets to take to sell at our yard sale/donate. Seems like everything I save for Brennan takes years and years for him to grow into or are out of style by then. He also has different tastes in clothes than Keegan, so I'm just going to get rid of them. Our goal this summer is to get rid of all the buckets of outgrown clothes and boxes of God knows what in the basement. I am going to try and clean out Brennan's closet today. I donated alot last year, but need to go through my closet again. I seem to always wear my favorite shirts and I'm trying hard to get rid of what we don't use. We also want to tackle the garage this summer. The rest of the house is pefectly tidy. I just never seem to get the time to go through everything.

I did manage to get our carry on size suitcases packed for our trip. I'm really proud of myself for fitting 5 days worth of clothes, pjs and swim suits in each. I'm usually a big overpacker and wait until the last minute to pack. The boys have bowling today/tomorrow and have baseball games every single night of this week. Luckily they aren't the same days/times like it was on Saturday. It was hard going back and forth (Derek and I traded) to the different fields since they are a mile away and parking's a nightmare.

Keegan's practice yesterday was cancelled due to the rain and he had a group of 7 boys over in the afternoon so that kept me busy supervising them and getting them snacks/drinks. We went out to dinner at the Olive Garden in Maryland. I wish we'd get one up here. We live just over the MD line and there's a lot of restaurants about 20 minutes from here we like to go to.

I noticed our flights we booked the other day for 9/1 have gone up $20 already. I'm still hopeful for a ding rate.

Sorry for the long novel. I am going to be quite busy over the next few days with trying to get ahead with work I need to have done and with baseball games so if you don't hear from me, I'll be back late on the 29th and check in the next day. If anyone can think of anything they'd like before our cruise from WDW please PM me and I'll try and get it.
