2008, 24th/28th Aug - *Double Dipping with the Bahama Mamas* (Part 2)

Morning Ladies,
Sorry i haven't posted in a couple of days..been a little hectic here. Nicole went to the doctor yesturday after school because she was complaining her kidney was hurting her. They sent us to the Er to have her get a sonogram and xrays...after a 3 hour wait they wouldn't tell us the results..ugh..the doctor has to tell us so annoying. So the doc called last night at 9 and said they didn't see any kidney stones which is what they were looking for so now they want her back in today after school for a cat scan. I will check in tomorrow with an update since i'm sure they won't tell me anything again after this test. I hope everyone is getting back into their routines and we can all start chatting on aim again. Have a good day and i will catch up tomorrow.

I hope she feels better soon. Tori came down with a cold on the 3 night and is just now starting to get over it.

 Oh no, I hope Nicole is OK and feeling better soon. I miss chatting to everyone too, hopefully I'll find some time over the weekend - catch you soon

I hope she feels better soon. Tori came down with a cold on the 3 night and is just now starting to get over it.

I'm glad Tori's getting over her cold now, it's not much fun getting ill on vacation - I hope to chat with you soon too

HI GUYS! This working thing stinks!!!! I have had no time to do anything! I am back to the land of making lunches and getting clothes ready.. I have carved at least 30 minutes a night for Wii Fit but it usually isn't until 8:30..

Did I say I this work thing stinks???

I have had fun just catching up with all of your pics! I will get some posted this weekend!

There is actually a forest fire 2 miles from my house right now! There are 18 departments and a helecopter fighting the fire.. It doesn't help that it is really hot and really windy... There is not danger of it getting to us (I don't think) but there is a college that is very close to it..

I can smell the smoke in the windows...

I'll catch up later

Hey Jen

I hope that forest fire doesn't get too close. Keep safe.

Ugghh !! Work !! It's been hard getting back into our routine this week too. I think it's about 6 weeks before the girls have their first school break. They get a week off around the end of October

I look forward to seeing your pics Jen and well done on using your wii

Have a lovely weekend :)

Hey Bahama Mama's

It's so quiet around here :( and I'm missing you all

I can't wait to see your photos and hear any stories from our Cruise

Have a great weekend everyone ::yes::

Hi Bahama Mamas!

Sorry I've been missing too the last few days. Just trying to catch up with housework, food shopping, etc.

Mandy - I hope you and Paul got out for some drinks last night. Sounds like things are back to normal around your house. I think we'll be heading down to FL just after you next year. Right now we are booked to arrive August 30th for our stay at Pop Century but I may change that a little earlier.

Michele - I hope everything is Ok with Nicole. Keep us updated!

Jen- Sorry that you are so crazy. Nothing like getting back from vacation and having to get right back to reality. Good luck with work. I hope that fire caused no problems for anyone!

Mary Ellen - I'm so sorry that your last night was ruined by your eye problem! I hope its feeling much better!!!!

Laurie - :sad2: is all I can say about the game last night. Hopefully the rest will be better!

Sandy - Sorry Tori was sick for the three night. I hope you can update us this weekend on how the rest of your vacation went

A big hello to everyone else! How is everyone holding up being back to real life?

Bryan is adjusting to being back at school but still complaining about summer vacation being over. He seems to like 1st grade and full day so far. I am noticing he is exhausted by bedtime and goes to sleep much easier:cool1: Today I hope to do some more cleaning and maybe organize some of the photos from the trip. We are expecting some nasty weather from Hannah later so I just hope we keep power. I realized how lucky we were with our cruise and our weather!!!! Nothing else exciting happening around here except I booked a trip down to FL the end of this month. Bryan has a couple days off of school so we will go down for a week. Tom will work a couple of days (so the company pays his airfare) and we will go down to Miami to visit my niece, her husband and the baby.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Hey Veronica

Yes things are just about back to normal around here (boring :rotfl2: :rotfl2: )

It's good to hear that Bryan is enjoying school

Have fun cleaning ;) and I look forward to seeing your pics soon

Lucky you being able to go to Florida at the end of the month. The weather here is wet and miserable, and it's been like that all Summer, so as you can imagine, it's feels like weeks since we saw some sunshine (and we only flew home last weekend  )

Have a great day :)

Morning Ladies, I am finally starting to get back into a routine again here...lol..i hate getting up early to get them off to school but the 6 hours of peace and quiet are so worth it.:rotfl: :rotfl: .

Nicole ended up not having kidney stones they said she has a strep infection in her kidneysa. She is on antibiotics and when she is done with them she has to take another 10 days of them again. She says her pain is only a 2 now so at least she is feeling better.

I might be leaving LTL and the grocery store..  A friend of mine from years ago is managing an i hop here and offered me a job..so i think i am going to take it and make some better money...lol.

Laurie, sorry i have been neglecting my twin lately..i am going to call you later so we can catch up.

Mandy, I miss you guys..it was great seeing you every night at dinner..we need to get together on aim again and catch up.

Sandy, Welcome home..glad you had a good time..sorry tori got sick though.

Well i am off to shower and start my million errands. Hope you allhave good days.

Good Morning Ladies!

It's be QUIET here - which leads me to believe the 'fun' is gone!! LOL WHERE IS EVERYONE?!?!?!?! Like I should talk, right? I haven't been on much either lately!

Things here are OK - back to school and PTA crap! oh, and work! LOL But, the kids did well on the first day, seem to be getting the routine.... I just keep checking my vacation ticker - 54 days till DLR!! That keeps me motivated!!!!

Mandy - So, when are you going to be back on AIM? Seems like FOREVER since we've chatted! I probably won't be around for sailaway - have a Bday party at 2, up north, so, there is no way I'll be back in time!

Michele - Glad to hear Nicole is doing better.... So, now that she is back to school, will she be looking for a job, or no? I can't believe you may be leaving LTL behind! You said after the trip you were probably going to leave - so, good luck w/the move!!! What kind of hours will you be working there?

Jen - sorry to hear works stinks - but, I 100% agree with you!! LOL It is hard getting back into the swing for sure! How are the kids doing??

Sandy - it was great catching up w/you last night! Enjoy your baseball today! How was the storm last night? I have to say, it wasn't as bad here as I thought it was going to be!

Suz - how are you over there? It was also great catching up w/you last night! Did you head to bed bright and early or what?? I had all good intentions on going to be early - but, didn't get to bed till after 11 - which I guess is early, right? Jeez - stop me from rambling here... lol

Veronica - WTG on booking the trip to FL... how long will you be staying for?? I am hoping for good things w/these Mets today - if they lose, I won't be able to leave my house!!! LOL

Danielle - thanks for the GREAT pics you sent the other day! :rotfl2: I'll be sure to treasure them forever!! How are things w/you guys? I am guessing you are probably crazy-busy w/football season in full swing now?

Mary Ellen - sorry to hear about your eye - I could only imagine how painful that was!!! Great to hear you got a 'dream' though.. We've been back and forth to WDW probably 6 times since this whole dreams thing started and all we got was dream fast passes at AK last November - and I have to tell you, it wasn't a super 'magical' moment - they kinda just handed it to everyone on the line for primevil whirl as they walked on... LOL

Where is everyone else?

Well - I hope you all have a great day! I have a few things to do around here, then I have to hit the road after lunch time - so, I'll check in later, hopefully the board will be 'buzzing' by the time I get back!

Laurie <--- dreaming about where I was two weeks ago at this time!

:yay: :yay: Woohoo !! At last. Some of the Bahama Mama's have returned:yay: :yay:

I hope you are all well

Michele - I'm pleased that Nicole is feeling better. Are Nicole & Sarah still missing Kerry & Becky ? My two are missing your girls too

That's great news about the IHop job. I'm sure you'll miss LTL badly though (NOT !!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: )

I will get back into AIM, I miss chatting with you all and hearing your news. I'll try and get on later :thumbsup2

How are the plans coming along for your next trip to WDW ? Are the girls still looking forward to it ?

Any luck on getting Jeff to agree to booking a Cruise for next year ? We're still playing around with dates, but there's a good chance that we may keep our 16th Aug 4 night Cruise

Have a great day too and I hope to chat with you very soon

Laurie - Yes it has been very quiet on here, I think some of the Bahama Mama's have left :(

It sounds like you've been busy with work and all the PTA stuff. At least you've got your DL trip to look forward to. What are your plans for this trip ? Where are you staying and how long are you away for ? You're a lucky gal ::yes::

I've ordered my photos, and I can't wait to fill up my little album with my Bahama Mama memories

Have fun at the party, and I hope to chat with you soon :)

Hi everyone

Does anyone think they will be going on a cruise in 2010? We can't afford it next year but depending on what the dollar is doing we might be able to do it in 2010. (DH doesn't even want to think that far ahead)

I've also looked into a cruise for Christmass 2009. It wouldn't be DCL (too expensive) but maybe RCCL. If not then I would have six more months to pack away the money and go DCL in the summer.

Next summer DH just wants to see Canada. Visit Niagra falls etc... I figure since I got my way this year I guess I can give him his next year.

Mandy - if you guys plan that reunion cruise for 2010 let me know. (and yes I really will meet you guys)

Hey Sandra, I really hope that we will be Cruising in 2010, though we're not planning anything just yet. If we do, then we'll let you know, as it would be great to finally get to meet you

Hi Bahama Mama's

I've just finished the first part of my trip report about our stay at the Caribbean Beach Resort. If you'd like to read it, you can find it here

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1944769

Hey

I just wanted to thank you all for the Fish Extender gifts :)

We enjoyed getting them and delivering them

It was great to meet you all.

Love Kerry

Augh, I had written a big long post and it somehow totally deleted it when I pressed enter to move to a new paragraph. That hasn't happened in so long because usually I copy it just in case it doesn't post and goes to the log in. How frustrating!

I'm waiting up to midnight to be able to book Palo and excursions for our 12/7/08 Wonder cruise. We have friends coming along on their first DCL cruise and we're going to do both brunch and dinner at Palo.

I thought we'd be less busy once the boys started school, but we haven't. We were at football from 11 this morning until after 3 PM. We were literrllly walking out the door when ADT called me to say my parent's alarm was going off and they couldn't reach them. I figured they were in church and better swing by there (a block away). I got there and they had police in the front and back yard, but it was a false alarm due to a faulty sensor. Both Brennan and Keegan's teams won. The games were totally one sided in the scoring and rather b-o-r-i-n-g. We stopped at a Bonanza and if you haven't been to one, I'd skip it. Not quite the Beach Blanket Buffet.

I've been helping out my friend Tianna, whose husband was paralyzed last Sunday in a motorcycle crash. They have both hit rock bottom emotionally and are having a tough time. They were so optimistic right after the crash, but I think they were in shock and just grateful he was alive. I feel so badly for Mike's parents as his sister has MS and is totally bedridden.

I'm helping Tianna out with watching her 2 year olds in the morning so she can go be with Mike in the rehab hospitall until her daycare gets sorted out. He's a police officer and the Fraternal Order of Police is going to start paying for daycare for the twins so she can be with Mike each day.

As for cruising in 2010, we will definitely be going on one, not sure when or where. We have a 4 day Wonder scheduled for 8/16/09 and a 7 day Eastern Magic cruise on 12/5/09 with Derek's extended family. I've been reading the Dis thread on possible itinerary and it looks like someone found a page from a port in Norway saying that the Magic will be in Oslo every 12 days. They are quite set it will be a Baltic cruise that summer. When we were on the Med cruise, the Captain Tom of the Magic said he'd like to do a Baltic cruise (I think he's from Norway or Sweden). Some Disers that have been sleuthing think it will be based in England and go to Oslo, Coppenhagen, Hamburg, St. Petersburg and possibly Estonia. I would love to go back to Europe on the Magic. It was our best DCL cruise yet. The only downside is the airfare, which is almost as much as the cruise there.

It rained here all day yesterday. The news said we got 3 inches. We have only a 6 year old house we had built and the rain actually came in the dining room window from the corners, dripping on the wood floor in a big puddle before I noticed. We have stone outside the window from top to bottom and I think the little fancy white thing above it needs replaced. We have to have our insurance company come out and look at it because the window company said it was not a window issue, but an installation problem. Our builder won't stand by it without a lawsuit.

Sandy/Michele, I'm sorry to hear both of your daughters were sick and glad they are on the mend.

Michele, good luck with Ihop

Mandy, I'll have to check your TR, thanks for the link. I'm still trying to upload all my pictures. I've frozen my photobucket account from uploading over 1400 pictures in one album. I'm going to have to do another album to finish the rest. I vow not to print any more out until I get the 900 I printed from the Med cruise in albums.

Laurie, you are welcome for the pictures. I have a couple of Anthony and Brennan at CC and you and Anthony I'll send tomorrow sometime.

Veronica, I'm glad Bryan's enjoying 1st grade. Have a great trip to Florida. I wish my boys had some kind of vacation other than Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. They don't even get half days or election days or any other days off. When we lived in Maryland they had a day off each week for about all of September and October for different religious observations and teacher days.

Suzanne, any headway on a 2009 cruise or DVC? Like I said before, it took us a good 2 years of thinking about it before we joined. We love it though.

Mary Ellen, I'm sorry to hear about your eye. When Keegan was 1 he had a hat on and was on my hip and turned his head so fast, the rim scratched my cornea and I had to go to the ER. It was not a fun experience so I can empathize. That's awesome you got a dream on the cruise!

Sandra, let us know what you decide for 2010. It would be nice to do a reunion cruise!

Heather, great wedding pictures.

Jen, I'm sorry work's been crazy for you. I hope the fire's have been put out. My friend lives in San Diego and emailed me a picture last year of fires near her house and it looked like what you envision hell would look like. Scary stuff.

Diane, I hope your foot's feeling better. Let us know how things work out with home schooling and Becca's gymnastics.

I hope everyone else is doing great!

Danielle

Hi Danielle, as usual it sounds like you're mega busy (I don't know how you do it ;) )

Did you get the reservations you wanted ? Tell us what you booked

:wizard: I hope your friends husband makes a good recovery soon, it must be an awful time for them

I think we'll be keeping our 16th Aug Cruise, as we're trying to organise our flights around it. It would be so cool if the Disney Magic came to England. I wouldn't want to take a Baltic Cruise (I want to go somewhere hot), but I'd pop down to the port to see it

I'm hoping to get my Cruise trip report finished today, so I'll post the link later

Have a great day too

I just saw this thread about 4 days cruises changing to the sea day the 1st day. Sandy, any idea when this will happen?

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1945446

Thanks for the link Danielle. It makes me laugh why so many people are complaining about the change (if it is happening). They're not missing out on anything, it's just changing the days around. I wish they'd do some more double dipping Cruises - I love them :thumbsup2

Good Morning Bahama Mama's

I hope you all had a nice weekend

I've got a quiet day today. I went to town with my mum this morning and Kerry came too. She's just had her new timetable for college and she only has to do a 3 day week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday), so she's really happy

Nothing else planned for today, just finishing my Cruise trip report

Have a great day everyone :)

I have clients on the 12/7 cruise too but haven't received that notice. I will let you know as soon as I hear anything.

I personally love sea days and really missed having them on our back to back cruises. I wish they would drop Nassau occasionally and do a double dip at CC w/ a sea day. That would be the perfect cruise for me.

Hello everyone-

I'm finally starting to get caught up with work. It has definitely been crazy here. Sports has started and we are busy Fri, Sat & Sun now through the end of October. Never a dull moment.

Michele- Glad to hear that Nicole has a diagnosis and has meds. I hope she feels better soon. Great news about the new job possibility.

Laurie- How are things?

Mandy- Tori is missing all the girls terribly. She said she was talking with Kerry last night. I keep trying to talk Christopher into the 4 night next August but he won't budge. To be fair we are doing a 7 night Royal Caribbean in November but I need my Disney fix.

Jen- How is work? Hope it's not too overwhelming.

I know I have left out a ton of people but it's time to get to work. Have a great day everyone :)

Hey Sandy, I'm with you, I would love DCL to drop Nassau and have two CC stops

I think you and Tori should book another girly Cruise for next August :rotfl: I know the girls would love to see Tori, and I would love to see you too :thumbsup2

It sounds like you've been very busy, I bet you're pleased that you've caught up on work

Have a great day :)

Well girls, I've finished my Cruise trip report, you can find it here http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1945654

I think we are going to try and keep the 8/16 cruise too unless we definitely do the Baltic (?) DCL cruise in 2010 and need the $$ for that. Derek loved our Med cruise/Europe (and so did I) and can't wait to get back. I'd rather be somewhere hot on vacation too, but I guess it would be hotter in the summer months to vacation in those ports than the winter months! I guess once the official release and costs come out, it will help in our decision.

Sandy, thanks for the information.

I booked Palo brunch, Palo dinner, the jets skis at CC for Derek and Keegan and parasailing at CC for me and Keegan. Poor Brennan can't do them until he's 8 so we'll take turns playing in the sand with him. We'll have friends along on the cruise so we'll spend some time with them there too.

I love sea days too and prefer the Eastern Magic itinerary because of the extra sea day over the Western. I think we'll probably stay on the ship in Nassau again. My friend really wants to get off the ship just to say she's been there so we may walk around the local area. I'd love to take advantage of the spa deal I did this past cruise. I'd love a 7 day that just went to CC all week and would sail at night and come back each day. To me unless you go on an excursion outside of the direct port area, all of the ports are alike on the Eastern, Western and Nassau. They all tend to have the exact same shops.

My only concern with the changes of the days is if DCL changes our ressies according to the location and not the day. I booked Palo the 3rd night, which will be our 2nd night at Parrot Cay anc CC day if you go by the usual 4 night itinerary. If they change CC to the last day, that would be our only night in Tritons and we don't want to miss it since this is our friends first cruise. I'd rather them keep my Palo dinner on the 3rd night and not CC day. Not sure if that makes sense, but I'm worried that's what they'll do.

I hope everyone has a great day!

OMG ~ In my excitment to get my trip reports done, I have just realised that I have posted some pics with Tori, Bethany, Nicole and Sarah in them.

If you would prefer that I removed them, then please just say. I didn't even think about till just now. So please let me know if it's OK or not and it won't be a problem to delete them

Sorry if this bothers either of you, I just wasn't thinking :)
