2007 International Food & Wine Festival (Marketplace Booth Details Now Available!)

PatriciaH, Since you have connections ;) , I was wondering if you had any clue concerning something a dining CM told my DH? After not being able to get through for a half hour the morning F&W ressies were opened, of course LeCellier was already booked when I got through. My DH called about other ADR's and a CM told him that travel agents will purchase blocks of F&W events to sell with packages & later release them. That we should continue to call to check for openings. Of course we have been calling & checking & have asked other CM's this question & have been told they did not think that was true or that anything was likely to open up. Any insider info on that?

Sorry, I have never heard of this. I guess they could if they wanted to but with the no refund policy this year I doubt they would.

For what it is worth, I had to "bad experience last year" on hold for 45 minutes and then disconnected. I kept trying to see if there was a cancellation for LeCellier and it never happened. they even suggested there was a wait list last year, well, not sure if there was or not, but it never happened either....

I would not count on a cancellation....

We ended up selecting another offering and had a wonderful time....This year my call was answered and I was lucky and now have L.C.....

Are there going to be any beer tastings or seminars at the F&WF this year? I'm not too big on wine, but definitely appreciate some good beer. DW and I will be there from Oct. 27-Nov. 2.

There is a "Great Beers of the World" booth and a Hops and Barley Market. And almost every regular country in the Showplace serves its own beer.

And Samuel Adams has a seminar/tasting at American Adventure. :)

Can someone tell me that went last year or any other year, do they put a description including the main ingredients on the menu board? I am going with a big crowd, some of which are picky and even the non picky eaters may not recognize every dish.

Thanks for the info. I am considering making a cheat sheet based on what has been announced otherwise. :)

The best thing for you to do would probably be to buy the cookbook (about $10,) it has the recipes and ingrediants for all the food booth items. I always buy one my first night, and review before I hit the booths.

I didnt see it, I can tell you I'm a picky eater and loathe green peppers - I was so disappointed in the Lobster roll in american booth - not a lot of lobster, the crunch factor (celery, onions and I think pepper) was high - and after standing in line, and it was a DP Snack credit, I wasnt complaining - it was well worth it!! (and I restate, I'm a picky eater! I found lots that tempted my palatte!)

Just know that they tell you about Sam Adams (which we love) its almost like a commercial - and the beer they gave us last year was maybe a 2 ounce pour - I think we tried 2 or 3 flavors...

but well worth the price!! (free,) I just wouldnt wait in a long line for it... do it during the week, not the weekends!!

One other thing to note is that they usually have samples sitting on the counter on display (like you see on restaurants dessert trays..that sort of setup). This won't help if you are allergic and need to know all the ingredients, but it will give you an idea of what the dish is.

Thanks for the answer! Even if it's not the one I want to hear! ;) :goodvibes I thought it sounded a bit strange, but was hoping it just might be true.

I was so disappointed, I was up bright & early, started calling right at 6:00 & the call wouldn't even go through at all. It took forever! I really wanted LC or the Bistro pairing, neither worked out, but we still have lots to look forward to!

They sold cookbooks with all the recipes in it??? How did I miss that! I'll have to get one this year! I've been trying to recreate the Lamb Stew from Ireland since last year, the real recipe would have helped a lot!

i read here on these boards somewhere that last year, the booths did not have those "sample foods" on display, like in years' past

(myself, i didn't go last year - missed it - but every year before i've gone and those "display" plates have been there - i've even taken pictures of them!)

we're going next month - hope the "display" plates are out again!

Soon we get to
food-smiley-002.gif
eat &

drink our way around the world. :cool1:

It is a great idea, and we normally do get one, but please note that all the recipes have not been included in the booklet?

This is what happens when I get bored.

Thank you - thank you - thank you.....

for reminding me that we had not yet seen Remy.....We saw the movie this weekend in the last large theatre that was showing it in our area......

PS heard from friends that they are now coming down for food and wine...
YEAH....more friends.
