2007 Big Gay And Lesbian Board Meet

Any thoughts on my suggestion of a sunset safari and then dinner at Boma? :)

Hey, Penny, as far as I know you can't do a SS unless you're staying AKL concierge. I don't think it's open to private parties. But, do you have other information?

ok.. have run some numbers. if i come to the meet i can't afford to stay at BC like the rest of you, at rack rate i can only afford PC, unless anyone in BCvillas is willing to have me crash in with them

About me in case anyone is considering:

Adrienne 27y.o lesbian
can live on an air matress if i have to LOL
would be willing to pay my share of a room up to the cost of a pop room p.n. and dining plan if the others in room/villa wanted dining plan.
Neat and can stay out of others way

So if anyone is interested.... other than that i'll book a PC room package and meet up with others during the day etc.

Nah, I was just wishful thinking. I thought the DISboarders should get special privileges!

Hi, guys. So sorry to have been away from the boards for so long. Didn't even see this thread until just now even though I am one of the instigators of the event and looking forward to meeting everyone there. I hope to be at a combo of either BC/AKL or Dolphin/AKL.

If we register as a Magical Gathering, we may be able to book a safari along with other M.G. parties, but I must admit the process seems kind of daunting because you need info on where everyone is staying, a certain percentage have to be onsite, etc. Doing our own meet-up at the regular safari ride, perhaps at one of the last runs of the day, and then going over to Boma (perhaps with a trip to Everest along the way) might be way easier. I also really like the idea of a trip to the Adventurer's Club one evening, as well as as the idea of a kick-off dinner at Cape May followed by Jellyrolls and/or an Illumi cruise. Dumbo and Philharmagic as a gay crowd could also be fun. The monorail drinking tour does sound fun, even for those of us who will stick to Shirley Temples with extra cherries. Rita Moreno appeals as well, but it's hard to picture a small crowd all getting seats together or latecomers being able to find the group, so maybe we would do something else right beforehand, and then walk over to the CP together, dispersing as needed at seating time. I'm up for pretty much anything people want to do, even a movie at the AMC. I would love to see the Osborne lights, but understand it's very crowded there, so it might be unwieldy as a group activity. Do we want to be wholesome? Raunchy? Drunk? Refined? Little kids set loose? Some of each?

I think it's important that whatever we choose be universally affordable. My thought was to schedule one meet per day, each one with an assigned coordinator who handles any reservations and commits to being there. All events would be completely optional otherwise, but if it's an event that requires rezzies, those who had committed to showing up would let the coordinator know if their plans changed. I am still hoping to design a button or somesuch so that we can all recognize each other at the meeting places.

Hey, friend, sooooooo glad to see you! :thumbsup2

As everyone can see, this woman is natural born planner and I, for one, am happy to put myself in her very capable hands! :grouphug:

I was going to email you (again) any day now ... but the days got away!!! :sad2:

In any event, WELCOME BACK!!!

Thank you! You make me feel very welcome, and it is good to be back at the hearth. :grouphug: Let's see what people think of the idea of one event per day, and let's see who volunteers to coordinate whichever individual events we all settle on.

If everyone books reservations then gets together the info, you could become a "Grand Gathering." If you do the GG/MG route, you can then book the safari event at AK, as well as firework events at MK and Epcot, and a breakfast at Tony's on main street. I think 80% of the people going to the event have to be staying on Disney property, but I'm not sure.

Hi Everyone!

Anyone know if MouseFest happens at the same dates each year? Thought we could 'represent' in the Disney Community at the same time.

We have an automatic button maker if you come up with a design Mama Twinkles.

2.5" diameter I think.

I just made a batch of LGMH buttons for our Thanksgiving trip

Okay, it looks like we'll be able to make it after all!
We'll be staying at POP - we need affordable, and we don't usually use extra amenities anyway. We'd be up for meeting at each event. :cool1:

As far as the type of event, I suggest a little of each. Maybe a rowdy drunk a thon one night, a casual dinner one night, a family night, etc.
:cheer2: popcorn:: :beach: :drinking1

woo hoo someone else who's staying at pop! i feel better about being poor now... (the student life is hard!)

This sounds like a great idea!! I will be staying at my house since I live in FL, and I would love to meet fellow gay/lesbian members of this forum! :D

Cool! That could come in handy. I might upload a design to Cafe Press so that people can pay for their own shipping, choose a tee instead of a button, etc., but your offer is great either way. Yikes. I'd better get designing.

Hey all! We usually go for my birthday in early December, but our DDE card expires on 11/30 and our APs on 12/5, so we are looking at after Thanksgiving, so we will probably be there for the meet! Haven't booked yet, but will probably be at BWV or BCV, unless we decide to try and get into the new villas at AKL. I'll post when I know for sure, but keep me informed of any events etc. in the meantime!!

That would be excellent! :wizard:

Stay tuned to this thread, this is where the action will be.

Hi everyone! I just got home from doing the 1/2 marathon at Disney and was catching up on the thread.. and of course wondering when I can plan my next trip! LOL!! Well.. i don't know if I can swing this time frame since I will be heading down in january again for the marathon 2008... But I will see what I can do.....

However.. the point of my message is that one of the things we did while there was a bunch of the folks from the boards ... on the WISH section... who were doing the marathon ... got together and organized a dessert party at EPCOT... you know when you see those people down on the private balcony with the candles and looking all cozy with their perfect view of Illuminations and eating yummy treats.. and thinking WOW.. I wish that was me!!! Well... it was me this past weekend. And it was wonderful! Sort of like a mini venetian hour! LOL!! there are many different options to choose from.. and it may be an option to consider... I believe it ended up costing about 25 or 30 per person for the evening... and was worth every penny! We were down the path from England... right past the fish and chips area... on the lower level... It was very private.... and had seating for the fireworks... the package we went with was mini-pastries, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juices... But I know they had others like.. Build your own sundaes, etc.

Just thought I would throw out a different idea for you all! (And maybe me.. if I can swing the vacation time!)

Kathy

Tim and I just got back yesterday from a week at WDW. We are looking forward to the meet at the end of the year. As for events, I love the idea of the Epcot dessert gathering, also the holiday decorations tour, a casual dinner, maybe a scavenger hunt, pin trade meet and greet, drinks throughout the world tour, etc. Available to help organize a event. Just let me know.

Steven
