I would say the ohiomouse kids learn a lot more than kids in regular public schools. I saw their classroom and one of the books in the bookcase was the DVC Member Guidebook. I think that they get quiz's like:

How many points do you need to stay in a one bedroom at VWL on a Sunday through Thursday in Dream Season.

or

What is the cancellation policy for a reservation made on DCL.

:rotfl2:

:lmao: :lmao: you figured us out.

THAT is why we teach math....so they can figure out the points. :)

Good thing she's teaching them something useful :rotfl2:

David - so sorry to hear about your co-worker. Here is a good website about esophageal cancer: http://www.cancer.org/docroot/CRI/CRI_2x.asp?sitearea=&dt=12

They provide a lot of helpful information. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family during this difficult time.

Cindy - I hope everything goes well for your mom. Does she live near you? She will also be in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

Ilene - I can't believe the problems you had with your reservation! That's terrible. We had a problem with a reservation many years ago but Disney handled it very well and we were upgraded (at no additional cost) from a moderate to a deluxe room for the weekend.

Happy Birthday Emma!

Ilene sorru about your mixup.

David: sorry about your friend

Cindy Hope everything is ok with your mom

I went to a Digestive Disease consultant today.

I have a perscription for Levsin sl
but I have to wait to hear back from my eye doctor if I can use it.

As long as my insurance approves-
On Friday I go for more testing:
I have Ultrasounds of my Gall Bladder, Liver and Pancreas.

And then I need to go to a lab for a bunch of stuff done.

-Cheryl

Monday STARTED out ok:confused3

Passing good thoghts to those who need them and keeping disFriends in mind for when they are down or worried about friends and loved ones.

:wizard: :goodvibes Happy Birthday Emma! :goodvibes :wizard:

Oh David, I will pray for your friend and his family. :grouphug:

Cindy, I'm glad you found out your mom needed some medical attention. Sometimes they just don't speak up... oh it will go away syndrome... I do hope everything is okay. :lovestruc

Pixie Dust to Cindy, David, Amy and Cheryl.pixiedust:

We all need some now and then. And after my last two days at work the Pixie Dust needs to come with a pitcher of Sangria from Spoodles.:drinking1

Julie!

I finally had time to really peek at your invitations! How WONDERFUL! The pre-wedding party at EPCOT sounds just so romantic. :lovestruc The wedding at the gazebo sounds heavenly! :cloud9:

Where in MGM will you be having your reception? I know there are so many places to choose from... will you be going there after the park closes???

I know... SO MANY questions, but weddings are so special, so love-filled, and so once in a lifetime! :goodvibes

8 Weeks! I can't wait! I am REALLY looking forward to getting away. There is so much to do - find pirate costumes, figure out whether we'll go with the dining plan or dining experience, shop, pack and whatever else I can think of between now and October 21!

Hi everyone, I've been out for a while too. I had surgery last Tuesday but am well on my way to recovery now. I go back to the Dr. tomorrow, I think I will feel even better after that. I've been trying to catch up on all the posts for days now.

Could you tell me if the pirate costumes are just your Halloween choice or if there is a pirate event that I need to know about? Also, since this is our first cruise, what is the deal with the door decorations? Thanks

Chris

Wow - I am just in awe of the home schooling - sounds like such a wonderful experience all around!!! We don't even have kids and you guys make me want to do it.
Ok, I'm catching up again!! I've been MIA cleaning my office again. I've taken a new strategy and moved almost EVERYTHING out of my office into the dining room. Now, I'm putting it all back in.

Anyway, I am also in awe of anyone who homeschools. I think that most could probably physically do it, but I'm not sure of my emotional being after even a few weeks of homeschooling. For now, our battle is between putting Emily in public school next year for kindergarten, or paying for private school where she currently goes to preschool. Who knows, but it will be a tough decision, either way.

OK, unrelated question...

A guy in my office went to the hospital last week coughing up blood. Today I found out he has cancer of the asophogus (sp) in the 4 stage. He started Chemo today... Can any of you tell me how bad that is? he is a really nice guy, and it sounds really bad...

And if you can spare any prayers and pixie dust for him and his family, he has a wife and 2 kids (21 MO son and an 8 YO daughter) they are all having a pretty rough time...

:figment:
Oh David - I'm not that knowledgeable about cancer, but I know that stage 4 isn't good (from all my years of watching ER). Anyway, my thoughts and prayers are with your co-worker and his family. I hope that he makes it through the tough fight ahead!!!

Flying out on Wednesday to go to California for 2 weeks! :yay: With the way the weather was today, my old bones will definitely appreciate a visit out that way.
Going to stay at GC at DL on points after Labor Day and will do some sites - hope to get down to my uncle's place in the desert. I will most likely miss chat til the 15th - with the time difference, I'm sure I'll be busy.

Good thoughts and pixie dust going out to all who need them -

Along those same lines, if anyone has any more prayers, I received a call this afternoon from one of my sisters saying that my Mom was taken into the emergency room this morning. Apparently she is having problems eating and swallowing as she has a burning feeling at the top of the stomach. This has gone on for days (so I find out today) and they felt it warranted to be checked out. I talked to her a while ago, they are admitting her and at this point have not ruled out a heart attack. It's tough having older parents, and even tougher when they don't always speak up for themselves when they should and only accept the information being offered to them at the time.
Oh goodness - I'll say my prayers for your mom too, Cindy!!! Hopefully it's not too serious!!!

pixiedust: Hope you're feeling better pixiedust:

There is a pirate night on the ship. Some wear pirate costumes to dinner. If you have one - wear it, but it's not mandatory to have one!

We are making magnets for our door. You create a door sign and print it out on a magnet. They sell 8 1/2 x 11 magnet sheets at the office supply stores or you can get them on line. I think it's Amy who prints her sign out on paper and laminates it and then adds magnets to the back of it. Both work great, it's just what is easiest for you. The magnet sheets can get expensive, depending on how many different signs you want to make up. I'm sure someone here has pictures of their magnets - hopefully they will post them. Mine are on my dh's computer and I can't get to them right now.

Hi Chris - pixie dust for you too, that you recover quickly!!!

As for the pirate costumes, we have separate pirate costumes that we made for DCL cruises. Now, we made some pretty basic costumes using black skirts for the me and the girls and Chris wore black pants. Then, we just ripped up some white t-shirts and some red sashes. No big deal.

And, the door decorations are door signs that people make. I'll see if I can find a picture of our door last year.
