Perhaps Cindy can do wake up calls again :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
I'm in awe that you guys got up that early and were up on deck - how awesome is that? We don't get enough sleep at home, so we slept in a bit more on the ship.

I had two kids under 2, if 5am was the only time I could get some alone time on the cruise, I was going to jump on it! :rotfl2:

And Stacy, I had fun with you that morning pulling into CC, but that was still after my conversation with your Dad! :rotfl:

Carol,
I'm saving points and staying at POP.

Karen,

Will keep a look out for you at Animal Kingdom. I will be looking for the short mid-50ish woman with the "I'm at Disney" grin.

Carol

Gary and I had a nice chat one morning when I was up early doing laundry and writing out thank you cards up on deck 9.

  Oh, you forgot.  Nothing about our early morning walk around deck 9.  And, then the tour we took of the ship.

What I still find amazing is that I seemed to run into the same people no matter where we went or what time of day it was. And, then there were others who I never saw once. I know they posted here, I know they were on the ship, but I never even had a chance to meet them.

It really is a big ship!

Diana, I think we strolled around at least one morning too. Was it the morning with the rainbow? :cheer2:

We had to take turns since Walker was usually sleeping. If I could add one thing to the cruise, it would be to have the ability to arrange for childcare in our cabin. A lot of nights, my DS5 would pass out at dinner. Being he's 50# pounds, we couldn't just take him with us whereever we wanted to go, we couldn't drop him off in the club, so we had to take him back to the cabin. And, that meant that one of us (Gary) stayed in the cabin for the night.

No NYE plans for us. It has never been really celebrated in our family. Guess that is because my Grandfather died on NYE (back when my mom was just a teenager). So it has always been low key.

Funny (well now anyway) New Years Day story. This was way back in 1980. Back in the day New Years used to be a Holy Day of Obligation in the Catholic Church which meant you went to Mass. Since we really didn't celebrat NYE my Mom, Grandma and I all went to 7 am Mass. Mom and Gram walked over first since it took my them longer. When I got to Mass I mentioned to my mom about the ice on the bridge over the expressway (the Eisenhower for those of you who know the area). After Mass I started home without them to get breakfast started. Well guess who fell on the ice - me! Landed right on my rear end, but with my right ankle underneath! Knew the minute I fell that it was broken. Good thing is the fire house is right at the base of the bridge. Bad thing is the Ambulance was out getting gas. So they pull out two fire trucks, and since this is quiet Oak Park on a New Years morning they also scramble two cop cars. By this time my Mother and Grandmother are near the base of the bridge and wondering what has happened. A neighbor goes back to tell them it is me and my Mom starts running. The paramedic who is working on me sees this and yells "slow down mama - we only have room for one"! Fast forward to the hospital. They are wheeling my into X-ray and I go past a window that looks into the waiting room. There's my mom sitting holding my shoe. The funny thing is there are all these empty chairs around her but she's holding this old, dirty, wet shoe. It looked like I had been run over by a train and that is all she had left of me!

The break was a bad one so I needed surgery (the next morning) and still have the rod and pins to this day. If you see me limping now you know why. This ankle acts up if I walk too much on it - I've also developed severe arthritis in it.

So I guess this is one time when it would have paid to go out and celebrate on NYE and sleep it off the next morning! :rotfl2:

Mary, I'm sorry you broke you ankle but thanks for the chuckle this AM. That is really a funny story of how you got out of that sitatuion. :rotfl2:

I know what you mean, Cindy! It would be nice. Lucky for us, Emily would stay awake in the clubs, but almost every night, she would fall asleep there when they had the movies on in the evenings.

Cindy - I didn't forget out early morning walk. We had a great time!

You are right about running into the same people. Isn't it amazing. I've found it on every cruise we've taken. Some people just seem to get in sync and you see them a lot (and I'm glad to be in sync with so many), but others you just never seem to run into.

So Cindy know that I cherished that time we spent together.

Mary, I was just teasing. Where did the little tiny font go? I would have added that to my comment about our walk, but I couldn't find it. Everything there now is bigger and bold, not the effect I was looking for.

You know what else, our running into people didn't stop after the cruise. It continued on to our stay at WDW. We ran into Mark & Mary, Julie & Matt, Stacy, Jeff & family, Diana & Bruce, Lisa & Sam. I'm sure there are others who I'm not thinking of right this moment. That's even more amazing to me with all the choices at WDW, that we would run into friends from the cruise.

But, that's not the first time that's happened to us. In October, we were walking through the Magic Kingdom with Amy & Chris and we ran into the Director of Walker's school. In September, sitting waiting to see the Stunt Show at MGM, we ran into a family from Cameron's school. As big as WDW is, it truly is a "Small World". :teeth:

That happened to me one time. At the time, I was living & working in Chicago and I also had a part-time job at the GapKids store at Woodfield. I was on vacation at the MK and walking down Main St. I kept hearing my name, but never turned around, because I knew that it couldn't be me. Anyway, after several times hearing "Amy", I turned to see one of the girls that I worked with at GapKids, sitting on the curb waiting for the parade. Such a small world!!!

I'm with you, you'll NEVER see me at 5am for anything!!!

Seriously, I am an early riser, but not that early. My wife tends to sleep later, so what I like to do is either order coffee to the room and sit on the vernand and read or go down to deck 4 and grab one of the blue chairs that I still am tempted to sneak into my suitcases one of these cruises.

I will admit that I am very much a morning person. Mark is getting better but doesn't wake up as fast as I do so I'll usually go read on the verandah or go up on deck.

I really enjoyed my early morning walk on deck 4 while I was doing laundry. And of course I loved running into my friends and chatting with them as well.

It is amazing how you run into people. For example Mark and I were disappointed that we didn't meet up with Karen (KarenNY) at the bon voyage party. She and Kath were coming back from the repo cruise that day. Well on our last day in WDW on that trip Mark and I went to his favorite lunch spot Kona Cafe. Who should be there but Karen and Kath. What a wonderful surprise.

What country will be going to? Is it considered Bahamas? I'm filling out our application to get our passports, and it asks what countries will be visited.
Thanks :flower:
Anyone going to NYC tomorrow? Not me, I'll watch the ball drop in my living room, where it's warm. All kidding aside, it seems like every year New Year's Eve, :cold: is always the coldest night! :rotfl:
I would love to go one year, but the whole bathroom issue, what do you do? can you get back to your area? :confused3
Well HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all!! :cheer2:

Yes, Castaway Cay is definitely the Bahamas!

Hi all. It has been so busy here with the holidays and work. In less than 3 weeks we will be at Disney. We are going to be at AK on Thurs. for the EE preview. I can't wait.  The three weeks are going to fly by. Next weekend we will be in Niagara Falls for a gymnastics meet. I can't wait.

Just trying to get a little planning done for Oct. What the earliest and the latest you can start boarding? Just trying to see if we have time to do anything at WDW that morning or if we should just head on over.

The earliest that you can arrive at the port is about 10:30am, and boarding is usually around noon, but can be as late as 1pm. I think that the latest that you can board is around 3 or 4pm.

For us, we like to start our cruise vacation as soon as possible. So, we get to the port at 10:30am and stand in line waiting to get on the ship. We enjoy lunch and then go to see if our stateroom is ready. We drop our stuff and explore the ship before the DIS meet.

We're like Amy - we like to get there early. In fact Amy was part of our mini DIS meet in the vendor parking lot while waiting for the regular parking lot to open. We always have a lot of fun in line getting to know others - especially on Member Cruises when they give us a Member Challenge to do. :)

Not sure how busy everyone is tonight, but just a reminder if you are free that cruise chat is tonight at 9 pm Eastern/8 pm Central.
