What kind did you buy? We've looked at and thought about the front load washer for a while. We'll be replacing ours soon.

Diana, didn't you replace your washer & drying not long ago too?

We got a brand new washer and dryer oh about 3 weeks ago. We bought an LG set from the Home Depot, there were rebates and rebates and more more rebates. All together I think we are getting like $300 back in rebates. I LOVE IT!!!! My old set was over 10 years old and when I bought them it was just me, so they were very very small. Seriously, I could fit inside my new washer and dryer! It's all electronic and washes the clothes oh so nicely. I almost enjoy doing the 15 loads of laundry I do each week. Well....almost.

But wouldn't you know it after we buy the new washer/dryer.....our oven craps out. We have a wall oven and it's an original with the house, so we figure it's 40 years old. We've already replaced all the appliances in the kitchen and were holding off on this, because wall ovens are an expense. So my new oven is being delivered on Saturday. Too bad I'm going to be afraid to cook in it because I don't want to get it dirty. I have to admit, it's been a challenge these last two weeks making meals that don't require using the oven. I'm losing my creativity!

Hmmm, looks like I need to go to plan B today.

Not to rub it in, but it was gorgeous here yesterday afternoon. I picked the kids up at school and we went to the park. I am looking for more and more days like these!

Has anyone had a baby who was petrified of a baby swing? I have this little guy -- he's almost 18 months. A tough little cookie who gets himself into trouble with his antics -- always climbing on things. One day, found him on top of the daycare table, dancing away! But, yesterday was the 2nd time I tried to put him in the swing at the park. Normally, my babies love to get pushed in the swing. I got the same reaction from his both times. Stiff legs going in, instant tears and crying. I want him to be comfortable and enjoy being at the park like the other kids. So, I got him into the swing and then I held him next to me, without pushing him, just so he could feel my comfort and hopefully feel secure himself. It didn't work. He continued to cry and be frightened. When I took him out, I put him in the stroller to sit, and he was more than content to do just that. It wasn't like he wanted to run around and play on the other things, he just didn't want to be in the swing. I asked his Dad when he picked up and he said last year, he loved the swing? I'm really perplexed as I've never seen this before. Has anyone else?

We bought the Whirlpool Duet which is a front loader. Washer, dryer and risers for both. We got them at Abt so Cindy let me know if you want the name of the sales person we used. One of the girls who works for me used to work there and gave me his name. He took good care of us. They are coming on Saturday morning to deliver the new ones and take away the old. Yeah!

Emma had a friend like that and she was about that age, 16 maybe 18 months. She was like that the entire summer. I laughed and told her mom at least they didn't need to spend all that money on a backyard playground like we did.

I have to say, as much money as we put into our kids playset -- it has definately paid for itself in the use the kids have gotten out of it. We've had it 9 years now and it's starting to show signs of need for some of the wood to be replaced -- which we did last year, and is in need of a good cleaning/staining this year as soon as spring truly gets here, but it has definately been worth it in the long run.

Of course, I might have a different perspective on it as over those 9 years, I've probably had 35 daycare kids also playing on it not to mention the kids friends.

Ian usually puts up a bit of a fight when I put him into the swing, but after I get him to sit he's usually okay and even has fun.

Maybe your little guy just doesn't remember how much he liked the swing last year. Maybe he's afraid with his legs dangling that he's going to fall drop or something. Would it be possible for you to sit on a swing with him in your lap for a little bit?

Like I said I'm a big fan of the creme brulee and since I won't be at the creme brulee table this cruise I'm hoping Steve & Gail will take pity on me and send some my way.

I have a cute daycare story to share.

We went to the little farm by my house today. I wanted to go to Brookfield Zoo but the weather just wasn't right to make the trip. It's been a while since we were there. It's a little farm, set in the 1800's and they try to be as authentic to the time period and way of life there.

So, we go into the barn and there is a man milking one of the cows by hand. The kids are standing there, watching the milk go into the pail. I can see the puzzled look on the little girl I take care of who is 4. She's watching and watching. Then she turns to me and says "we buy our milk at White Hen" (which is a convenience store in our area). I'm thinking, if you only understood that the milk at White Hen was still from a cow, you probably wouldn't drink it anymore. I truly think she believes her milk is different.

Hey, Diana, maybe that's what happened to you as a child and that's why you don't have anything to do with eating things which are white.



And, some really good news --- my daffodils are starting to bloom.

That's a cute story. I can tell you there weren't any cows in Staten Island growing up. In fact, the first time I had ever seen a real life cow was when my Dad started taking me upstate to look at colleges. I guess I didn't get out much.

When I moved upstate there were so many things I just didn't "get" and people just laugh and make fun of me for it even til this day. Would you believe I've never been on a school bus? I never knew that if you left your mail in your mailbox and put the flag up, the mailman would mail your letters for you. I also never knew that people pumped their own gas.

Have you tried the Oreo's with chocolate filling? I'm not a big Oreo cookie eater, but I sure do like the ones with chocolate filling.

I do eat oreos But not Twinkies or Ding-Dongs.

Not that I eat them today, but when I was pregnant with Cameron & on lock down in the hospital for the last 30 days, double stuffed oreos had just come out. Gary smuggled me a bag & I rationed them out and only had 1-2 when the cravings were really bad. I think that entire bag lasted me weeks.

Guess what Cameron's favorite cookies are still to this day!

I'm with Mary, give me the white filling. I never buy the colored.
