Me, I'm considering July 9th Mexican Riviera, but I'm still suffering a bit o' sticker shock. I've never done single supplements before, and I'm on the fence. :) I'm still not booked, and I'm the one who LOVES cruises. Hell froze over!

Lori, you might wanna check with Margaret......I know she's already scheduled for the DDL cruise in Jan, and this one in May, but she seems to be on a roll and since she DOES live in CA.....maybe you could find a spa buddy, too!

Good luck!

OK, I'm lost... Catherine did you hate your last DCL cruise????

Let me chirp in on this one, Catherine is another good friend from RADP, she works with Jeff and I on the Great Race we put on at Disney every year.
She did not enjoy her Disney Cruise. Let's leave it at that. Unless she decides to delve father into it... or Lori spills the beans

Welcome Cotomom

Nice to have u aboard...
I think u have been lurking for a while and know the Rest...

Great to have u Along

Peter

Good evening everyone! :wizard:

Well..it's been a while... been very very busy, had the trip to cheeseland and then had to recuperate at WDW for a weekafter dealing with the in-laws!! Went to the AK pin event last weekend... much fun despite the monsoon. :umbrella: Now back to reality and waiting for the next trip to the World over the 4th.
Whew... had a lot to catch up on! What's this about celebs on the cruise? You mean other than Lynda & Cash?? :p
Sorry to hear about the DVC disappointments... still a long way to go until the cruise though.. maybe you'll get lucky. Have to save my few remaining points for after the cruise at DLR. Gotta put that on the calendar to call MS!
Good news about the free sodas... not that I drink that much (well soda anyway) :drinking1: but I'm always happy to see something for free from Disney! A rarity!

I'd love to do High Tea... never miss a chance to get sconed. DH might want to come just for the scones, unless I can get him a doggie bag... maybe Cash can help

I wouldn't say I hated cruising. I like FOOD and I like visiting ports. But I'm a night owl and everything aboard ship shut down pretty much by midnight. There was also the total absence of my favorite WDW hangout (see below) which was more difficult for me to handle than I thought it would be.

I am not someone who enjoys sitting still - I sit at a desk at work about 10 hours a day - although on THIS cruise it might actually be warm enough for me to do some reading on deck (which is where I ought to do it because my stateroom will have no windows....and no doors?). Dare I hope that the ship won't be riding huge waves, either?

Then there was the total unavailability of spots in the wine tasting seminar. Oh well, I can always buy a couple of glasses.

And maybe I will actually get to see Castaway Cay this time around.

Hi everyone! We just returned last night and I am in a deep depression! We had a great time and the only way I could leave the ship was knowing that we would be on the Magic for 14 days! We hadn't planned on going back to WDW because of the 14 day cruise but I think I am going to have to plan one before next May.....I don't think I can go that long without my Disney fix!

I'll hit the high spots for now....

~Going with a newbie was great fun! Seeing it all through fresh eyes!

~It was hot but was not unbearable until Fri. and Sat. 06-11/06-12 and then it got to us alittle. It was nice and sunny every day until about 4pm and then the rain would come. We went to the parks every day until about 3pm and then went back to OKW to watch the rain from our deck. It worked out great doing it this way...very relaxing and kept me out of my 'park comando mode'. We came home to 50 degrees....that was a shock especially since it is the middle of June! Got to love Colorado weather....

~It was crowded, much more crowded than I remember it being on a previous June trip....but we did E-ticket one night so we were able to do all that we wanted in MK without waiting in line....my only disappointment was the BTMR was broke down so we did not get to ride it this trip.

~We took the Keys to the Kingdom tour and enjoyed that very much. I had always wanted to do this but the age requirement is 16 and my daughter is just now 15 and she did not go on this trip. I want to take her when she is old enough. So now I know some 'secrets' but was sworn to secrecy at the end!

~We rode with Hulk Hogan on Rock'nRC. He was a couple of seats in front of ours.

~The cruise was great! We were the second in line after the special needs, WISH and concerige passengers. We had great weather. Sunny and hot. It was almost too calm of seas! I like a little more rocking and rolling to put me to sleep but it was great! You've all heard about free sodas already I see. I didn't know about this until we were on board and I was looking for the table with the unlimited beverage card sign up and was told that all beverages were included now. It was a nice treat but you know what? I drank mostly water! I had a diet Coke once and Iced Tea once....just water and of course adult beverages.

~They "PreEared" Around the World in 80 Days. That was a nice surprise! I enjoyed the movie and I am not much of a Jackie Chan fan.

~We went to CC! What a wonderful place! I had cruised about 5 years ago on the Magic and we were unable to dock at CC because of a hurricane. We had a wonderful day there. We were among the first off the ship and we had Serinity Bay to ourselves for about 30 min. It was so peaceful! My DBF had a little trouble getting in his hammock, however! Then he decided to try and get into the hammock with me later in the day and he knocked both of us out that time! We have a couple of bruises to show for that one! His being the worst since he broke my fall and he has a huge, ugly bruise on his hip.

~We did run into a couple of groups of 'wild' teenagers! One big group of about 40, eighth graders with only 6 adults with them were on our dining rotation and seated at tables all around us. Needless to say...dinners were quite interesitng and noisy! Watched as they threw things at each other and build 'snowmen' out of the dinner rolls. We were very happy to be able to eat at Palo's our last night! Don't get me wrong I have nothing against that age group my daughter just went through it and I have seen how they act in a group but this group made us rush through dinner just to have a little peace and quiet! Our table mates a very nice family of 5 from CA were going to order room service the last night when we went to Palo to avoid them. We rarely saw them other then at dinner so it was not a huge problem...just made dinner not quite as enjoyable as it could have been.

~We went on the walking tour of the ship and the CM that was giving the tour knew all about DIS Boards and she reads it regularly and she does take our comments to the planning meetings. She told me she had just logged on earlier because they were thinking of changing some of the music at on of the pool events...can't remember if it was for the Sail-Away party or for the Tropical Deck party and she found that there were certain songs that the just can't changed based on what she found out here.

~Every CM that we mentioned the 14 day repo cruise were trying to get transferred to the Magic for the 12 weeks! They were all very excited about it even if they had no chance of being transferred.

~Jenn and Peter we were at WDW the same weekend you were. Too bad we couldn't have gotten together for a drink. We were at the AKL on Friday night as well for dinner but we were at Boma. I had eaten at Jiko before and decided to try Boma this time. It was very good. I just love AKL!

Well, that's it for now. I'll add things as I remember them...we are on sensory overload right now and I can't think of everything that we did or saw right now. Now that this trip is over I can concentrate on the 14 day! Yea! Makes coming home easier when you have another trip in the works! Still think I will need a WDW fix before then though.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Vicki

Vicki , Glad u had a great time ,

Would have loved to have met up with u

..But u know how it is u just never know where u are going to be and when...

WE have No trips til October Cruiseand November/Wdw and Then May Cruise

Gee, Catherine, it's all coming back again........it did suck!!! At least the COMPANY was awesome!!! And if you miss Castaway Cay this time, we'll have to color you tainted!!! ;-)

Welcome back, Vicki! We'll have to chat when we get closer to the cruise. Maybe we'll be on the same plane(s)! We fly out of DIA, since its the closest airport to us!

We don't get south of Denver much....mostly stay north, but I have been to Park Meadows once! The big city is jut too big for us! lol

Hulk Hogan, huh? Did he fit in the car? I'm envisioning needing an extra seatbelt for the guy!!

I've enjoyed the highlights and look forward to hearing more!

Kelli

Welcome back Vicki, glad you had a great trip. Welcome aboard to Cotomom our new fellow cruiser.

I almost ended up in MCO last week. Head to Tucson tomorrow. Too much work. Keeping up here has been tough.

Leslie, I make a daily call or calls to DVC to see if anything came up as far as a point reservation. Nada at this time. I think they will soon have my membership number memorized and start answering the phone with either, Hi Scott or Sorry Scott nothing yet.

I got my Amazon orders with the Canal books and the second order to complete my reference library on the Nobel Brotherhood, or those who sailed under the Black Flag, or Privateers, or simply said Pirates. The history major/ environmental educator in me will never die.

Weather is rainy and cool here. Will be very warm in Tucson.

Hi all!

Ok, I know I'm a LOT premature here, but are most of you coming in the night before? Where are you planning on staying?

We've always stayed at the MCO Hyatt the night before for ease...

Wondering if anyone has ever gotten a DIS group rate from them and if it would be worth the time/trouble?

Have a GREAT weekend!

Kendra (forgot to tell you guys in my original post my name :wave2: and for you to add me to the Starbuck's caramel macciato desparately-trying-to-stop-this-expensive-habit-crowd :hyper:)

Just wanted to stop in and say hi . . .

My family is booked on this cruise and we couldn't be more excited about it! We did the 7-night Eastern Caribbean last October and had a blast. When this opened up, we just knew that we had to get on again! My DH, DD 4 (she'll actually turn 5 while on the ship), parents, brother and his friend will all be onboard! As of right now, we don't have room assignments, just guaranteed. We're hoping at least one of us gets an upgrade, but we're not exactly holding our breath either. We'd stay in steerage if we have to!

May 14th can't come soon enough! :sunny:

Pétér,

Congratulations with the new puppy. Have you named her yet? You will have to post a pic of her so we can see what she looks like. You know, I don't think I have ever seen an ugly animal. I just seem to fall in love with them all!

Reneé

Congrats Peter and Jen!
We got our first beagle from a puppy store. Copper hadn't been adopted for months, so when I saw his sad little face I had to take him home. Josie we got from a beagle rescue place. She was too hyper for her previous owners....
It doesn't matter what your dog looks like or where you got them. It matters that they are loved and have a good home. I know I love my two with all my heart, hence why I sleep on about 1/4 of the bed and the dogs get the rest with Jeff.

Yep - pretty sure we can guarantee you triple digit temps.:sunny:

Although Tucson should be a little cooler than here in the Phoenix area. Give a big wave if you fly over.:wave2:

Kendra,
We do plan to fly in a day early. Have not made any definite plans yet. I would love to spend a day or two at WDW - but doubt that will happen as a 14 day cruise really eats up the vacation time as it is.

I know the Aug. repo group has a block of rooms set up for the night before. Not sure how much of a discount they were able to negotiate.

Congrats, Jen & Peter!
I know how you felt about wanting to bring home a dog today.
Our youngest dog...now a HUGE, will eat anything and thinks shes a lap dog... came from a feed store, because thats where she was. She eats everything but is the sweetest, gentle dog.
Let us know what you name her....post a pic.

Welcome back Vicki. Sounds like a good trip. Thanks for the mini trip report.

Now that we are less that 330 days out and can make ressies for flights, hotels, etc. has anyone started looking for good deals. We looked around a bit last night, but didn't book anything. We are looking to stay at the port the night before, and most likely at OKW the night before that.
I know its a bit early to be planning this stuff...I just can't help myself.
