I am a power seller. If you need any help, let me know!

This is the time to list "gently used- like new" summer clothes for kids! and other nice "stuff"... :)
LOL!

Linda-what is your ebay seller id and I'll look you up and get some ideas on what the girls clothes are going for.

Thanks.

Linda

To both Linda's:

I have about 3 LARGE boxes of my daughter's toys as well as 2 LARGE boxes of her clothes that are all in new/like new condition. I thought about doing 1 of 2 things: donating them or selling them on ebay. My only concern with ebay is shipping - it get's to be so much work and can be costly. I am wondering if it's worth the hassle. I've sold a lot of stuff on ebay before (was an Avon rep, and ex-hubby and I bought and sold lots of classic car parts) so it's not like I'm new to it. I should probably not be so lazy and just go for it, huh?

Do you sell clothes in a "lot" or as separate items?

Going to check that CA>FL thread for the comment Linda mentioned....

Hey Jindy-since you are the expert on Avon stuff. I have some of those old Avon men's cologne thingers from the 70's (like a blue car, an elk, etc) are those things worth any money? They were my ex's and hold no sentimental value to me and are collecting dust in the basement.

Thanks!

Linda

Hey sealauter let him out of the basement!! Thats not nice.
Oh you meant the Avon stuff??

Disregard ;)

Cheers,
Grumbo

Thank goodness it's just the bottles and not him!

Gosh, Linda - I really don't know! But I TOTALLY remember those old bottles.... :rotfl: I would assume you could sell those on ebay as well. You'd be surprised....

We once sold an old Audi radio-controlled toy car from like 198_ (didn't even know the date) on ebay. We put it up for 5 dollars, it sold for over $300!! :earseek:

Along those ebay lines, Jeff (tigfan for those new to us) bought a pair of orginal DL monorail pilot wings on ebay once. He paid a pretty penny, however he'd probably double it if he sold them now....

Hey Grumbo, are you on the 5/14/05 cruise?

I'm thinking we should spend a day at sea doing some onboard photography seeing how you have a good eye for it. :-)

Thanx Sam appreciate the invitation but I am on the West - East repo cruise. I am going to be getting a few more memory cards thats for sure and my wife will probably have her Nikon and 20 rolls of film

Look forward to seeing everyone's photos from your cruise. May need a new hard drive for my computer by the time I'm finished from the Canal though :hyper:

Cheers,
Grumbo

Yep, I'll probably burn up my laptop with all the pics I will take everyday and download. Just bought a 256M card. Of course, I filled it up completely at my daughter's first dance performance I went to in less than 20 minutes. I'm so glad I don't spend money on film developing anymore.

I have about 30 rolls of unused film, I'll have to sell them on EBAY!

It's not too late to change! Come on over... the grass really is greener on this side. :D

Know what you mean about the hard drive. I took over 2000 photos on my western cruise earlier this year. 3 of 'em turned out great!

Sam

Yep, I end up deleting more than I save! You would think I could learn to hold a camera still!

Actually, since we bought that $1000 Canon Rebel 6 megapixel as a gift for ourselves for christmas, I have been doing much better. There is a sports setting on it, so I can take pics of DD dancing/singing and they don't turn out blurry. Plus, you can hold down the shutter and it takes 4 or 5 right in a row. It is pretty cool. So, since the new camera I haven't been deleting quite as many. Now I delete them cuz the kids dancing either have their eyes closed, aren't smiling, or have their tongue hanging out of their mouth cuz they are concentrating too hard!!!!

Hi Guys! I'm gone for a few hours to play Soccer Mom's taxi service and we've burned a page already... God this thread is cooking! LOL! ::yes::

Hi Grumbo! Wish I knew how to post pics ( too busy eBaying...) or I'd send you your dessert, or a cup of Starbucks since it is our official beverage of the 5/14 thread. Basement, ex, avon- you are cracking me up! Thanks for your PM! At least we have a sense of humor! :)

Even though I don't post pics here, I take lots too! The laptop's definitely coming with me for downloads of the cards & video camera. I love that Canon Rebel 6mp Linda! Camera jealousy... I bought an Olympus 5mp 750 with a 10X zoom & I love the sports mode too. Captures movement almost as well as my trusty old Nikon 35MM.

dianthus... given that you already have a Nikon 35mm, you ought to check out the Nikon D70. It's in the same price range as the digital rebel and is a very sweet camera.

Even if Grumbo is not on our 5/14 cruise, I tihink those of us who are shutterbugs ought to hook up for a photo session around the ship. Could be a lot of fun. In the way followup, we could meet again on another day with our laptops to show off our finished work. ::yes::

Whew! I'll never catch up with all of these posts when I get back from WDW and our DCL cruise on June 17th! I was busy this weekend and look what I missed! I just got caught up from this weekend posts! BUT I am so glad that I will have the repo cruise to look forward to....it won't make leaving the ship this time as painful!

Well better get back to packing...I'm trying to wear myself out so I can sleep tonight! I am so excited to be going to the 'world' and taking a newbie!

Take care all and have a great couple of weeks!

Vicki (Oh, I am a huge Starbuck's fan as well! My favorite is a non-fat latte with two sweetners....but when I am splurging those Carmel Macciatos (sp)?are the best! Even better Iced!

Bye for now!:wave2:

PS smchan~I loved the photo in your last post!

Sam~ I had to buy a new camera quickly for my eBay stuff & our cruise last Nov.. My digital died 2 days before. The Canon & the Nikon are 2 on my hit list. Perhaps before the repo, but I'm happy with my Olympus, so maybe not... We should have them announce on the cruise the "shutterbug laptop club" will be meeting in Promenade at ... or better yet, put it the navigators...

Love your picture in your sig. Sam! My fav. Bway show!! Is that Simba & Nala, or Mufasa & Surabi? I saw Lion King in early April- looks like my lions, but not sure... LOL! Paige Davis' husband Patrick Page ( I think that's his name) was SCAR in our show. He is awesome!!! I love that show! My fav are the grass people! Now those are big hats!!!:hyper:

Anyone see Gary Delana on the ship- he does this number on the words to the Circle of Life that no one understands...- Pennsylvania... Pink pajamas, penguins on the bottom- Pink pajamas, penguins on the bottom... ( to the tune of circle of life... so funny! had to be there I guess...)

Vicki~ I thought you were on your trip right now! Have a great time if you don't post again before you go. Enjoy CC this time- sending lots of sunshine for you!!!! :sunny: Taylor will email Whitney- too busy right now- end of school stuff, soccer tourneys, dance recitals... God, I'm exhausted & I only drive her around!

I'll do a a mini eBay tips post for those of you that are interested. It's a great way to clear out the excess "stuff" & make money. It's fun too! More money for drinks on the ship! Bahama Mamas & Konk Coolers- gotta love 'em!:drinking1

There is a great thread on the community board for eBaying your way to Disney- it's a monster, but chock packed with info. eBay University for selling- go to the site map is good for learning the basics. Nice tutorial...

All you need is stuff to sell- a dig. camera, keyboard and you're good to go. You'll get your first star in no time!

The best advice I can impart is know your product. Research products to determine prices. Look at completed items for recent prices. Many Newbies make the mistake of putting a reserve on everything- don't, or you can hurt yourself. Reserves only work well on items that are valuable.

Clothing works well in lots. I do 3 or 4 similiar items in same size runs. For girl's clothing- LTD2 & Abercrombie stands alone well if it's mint, or new. Watch those Barbie collectors- they are sharks! Research before you group the Barbies or set your prices too low... Toys sell well if they are in mint condition, but shipping on big ones can break the deal... Better to put those in the paper- little tikes stuff...

Don't use too many pics in listing. 1 good pic is all you need, unless it's a valuable item. Write a listing that is simple, concise & to the point. Be clear about refunds, shipping, payment, etc... Disclose any flaws! Don't put mint, if it's OK. I launder all clothing items before I list & inspect the clothes closely. I donate anything that is not perfect- not worth it to sell....

Shipping is another area newbies make mistakes on. Pack your item, weigh it & use USPS online calculator to the zip farthest from you- that's your max cost. I post flat rates to make payment easier for buyer. I use Priority for most items. They provide boxes & the cost is a small amount more than Parcel post. Gets there in 2 days too! UPS is cheaper for larger packages that are heavy. They include up to $100 insurance too. Use eletronic shipping & you get a free del. confirmation on Priority. This way you know if the package is delivered. I accept Paypal only, for ease & timeliness. I keep all funds earned in that account.

Just jump in & do it- it's fun!

Hope this helps all of you!

I hope we get to go to CC this time! I am really looking forward to that! Whitney is still in PHX and will be home next Sun. I'll have her email Taylor when we get back as well. I totally understand about being tired just driving her around! Can't wait until she can drive...one more year. Take care!

Vicki

Almost forgot, Happy Belated Birthday, Linda! Glad you had a nice trip to NYC! :bday:
