There is a neat thread on the Community Boards with a link to a map where we can add ourselves to see just how much of the planet we DISers occupy!

Check it out! I'm surprised I'm the first one from California. Be sure to add a shout out or you won't appear on the map.

Thanks for the link Steve....except that the site wouldn't accept Stoney Creek, Ontario....it kept telling me it was an invalid city!!!!! :confused3 ...so I had to settle for Hamilton, Ontario!!!!! There appears to be quite a few Dis'ers near me...now if I could only find a single guy that would put up with my Disney Obsession!!!!!
I 'd be on :cloud9:

Scott...Congrats on being #1!!!!!!!!

Hi all - thought I would check in to let all know I am still around

Went into hospital for my right ankle fusion and it turned out to be very difficult and for 45 minutes ended up almost four hours. Surgyer has now lef the left foot so it will not move and now I have no use of either foot. NOT FUN AT ALL - doctors say about 9 months or more of heavy recovery with PT and other messes!!!!!

Before I went into hospital trying to everything straightened we bought Harry a new Spa (too many $$'s - but it was OK) - new Jen Air outside grill - new stove, oven, dishawaher - new carpet for the whole house and everything looked really good to come home to.

Then the day after surgery Harry didn't come to the hospital on time and I called. He left and had to go back and walked into the house and found that a pipe had busted and flooded the ENTIRE HOUSE of about two feet of water.

I immediately called the insurance co. from the hospital and they were out within an hour with a company to extract the water out and put about 20 hugh blowers throughout the house

I had my sister go over and get my animals and she called and said I don't want to know anything.................

all carpet is gone - over 4,000 worth of that alone. kitchen cabinets on the floor are agone and the workers physically threw things from one room to the other to pull everything up and work.............

I eventually went over about 2 days ago - staying with my sister bcause the house is not inhabitable - that and she has to help me get around also -

AFTER I STOPPED CRYING I felt better.

THEN ------------------- here come Wilma

new hot top is I am pretty sure gone. Solar panels on roof are ripped and torn and some are missing - entire back porch is missing the screen cover for the pool and it was only two years old and beautiful.

The neighbor in the back of me is a pure SLOB and keeps his house horriably messy and his roof was nothing but tar and now that tar in in my entire pool and Lord knows how I am going to get it out................. The insurance company two years ago decided they would not insure patio enclosure except for a premium of about 7,000 a year. way too much. SO THAT IS A BIG EXPENSE
\\
So today I went over - locked up the house - rented a car and drove to Disney - have to get away and clear our minds and focus on good things - THIS TIME SHALL PASS ALSO.

So I'm chilling out for about a week and going back to it but with a different attitude.

Now another idiot storm is out there a but thank goodness it is moving in the other direction.

No phone or electric and they give approx. four weeks to restore all. over 3 million people out - which is 98 per cent of Ft. Lauderdale.

Hope all is well and thanks for listening......................

Oh Kay,

I was wondering where you were and if you had had your surgery. I was also wondering about you after Wilma hit. I'm so sorry about everything! Will your insurance cover the hurricane damage and the personal flood? What can you do with your feet? Is there anything I can do for you? Call me when you get the time, ok?

Renae

Oh Kay.....

When I saw that the latest post on our thread was from you...I immediately thought...Kay & Harry are from Ft. Lauderdale!!!!!! I had completely forgotten.

I am so sorry for all your troubles but you have gone to the best place to take your mind off stuff...WDW....sure wished I lived closer to be able to come down more often to "get away from it all!!!!"

I hope everything works out for you....

Sending :grouphug: and :wizard: to you and Harry from Mom and I here in Canada.

thanks Ranae, Elaine and Margaret.

Let's hope the insurance takes care of the water damage anywyas. or a lot of it. I also applied for FEMA already. We do what we can.

Another note that I thougth was so nice by a friend. My daughter ran out of miik for the baby - lines are hours long and food and milk not even available.

A friend in Orlando bought a large cooler and bought several gallons of milk and b brought it down to my daughter for the grandbaby. she also brought a little food down. We'll surely never never forget her.

I'll be doing the same thing when I head back home.

Ranae, I'll call you today sometimes. Nothing doing anything special. Can't come over, as can't get up the steps to your place. Sorry. Proably just go to downtown disney and enjoy.

Not even sure about the six cruises I have booked for next year. My heart isn't into it too much now. it's like down on the list for me now. I'll just take each day and see what happens. A lot has to be determined and looked at.

Kay, I'm so sorry to hear about all that's happened to you. Life is just really unfair sometimes, isn't it? I'm glad you have Disney to escape to. Life always seems better at the happiest place on earth.

I'll keep you in my prayers.

thanks so much, angela - I am at WDW with computer and not doing anything. Haven't done that in a LLLLOOONNNGGG TIME.. LOL

checked into OKW for a week and plan on continued to nothing. no gas lines, no water and ice lines no wondering where next meal will come from and have electric. ha ha - Different perspective when I get home

my daughter with the baby has a friend's house to go to that has electric and that makes me feel good and not being guilty being here w/o them.

have a good weekend

I would so LOVE to come to visit you in WDW between now and Friday but with only 2.5 hours of vacation to last me until March 31, 2006....I unfortunatley can't go anywhere!!!!!

oh wait....I feel a (cough, cough) cold coming on. (places hand on forehead) yup...forehead is hot...I think that the only way to cure this (cough, cough) cold would be a trip to WDW....think my boss will buy it????? :rotfl2:

Steve, Thanks, I beat kelli for the WY 1st.

Yeah, but I've got a good excuse....we had to take an emergency trip back to Wisconsin this week...or else you would have been 2nd place....traveled Tues to Fri and didn't want to bother with the laptop, so I've been incommunicato for a while. Etta needed company while Keith's bil had knee replacement surgery on Tues and Keith's neice passed away on Sunday. Her "fav" grandaughter who had a 2nd brain cancer surgery the day we left Port Canaveral.

But I do have an "interesting" story about the flight, its been printed other places, so if you've heard it, feel free to move along....

Only about 1/3 of the plane was sold, and only about half of the people were seated when we got on. At the door to the plane was a mechanic and he was doing something, but I didn't pay too much attention to what he was doing.

We got seated, and after a minute or two, the mechanic came down the aisle and got down on his knees and was doing "something" under the seat across the aisle from Keith. Then he left. After about 3 minutes, he was back and looking rather frantic this time....and asked the guy one row ahead of Keith something I couldn't hear.

Then, the guy behind Keith asked him if he was looking for his leatherman. The mechanic said yes, he was. The guy behind us said, "That guy found it" and pointed to the guy ahead of Keith. So he asked the guy where it was. He said he put it in his pocket. Then he had to go through his coat and 2 carryons to find it. The whole time it took to find it, the mechanic was making funny eyes, and made sure to thank the guy behind us as he was getting off.

The guy behind Keith was NOT being polite about it...he was saying, "You KNOW they aren't going to let this plane take off til they find it, and I'm not going to sit for 45 minutes and make them pull everyone off the plane when that guy knows what he did."

Very strange! I guess the guy was just a thief, but it could have been a LOT worse.......bet that mechanic pays more attention to where he sets his stuff down next time, too!

So, that's my story...Kay, I'm so sorry you're having such a rough time right now...but you couldn't have come up with any better medicine than you've got right now....give that Harry a big hug for me....
