Thanks everyone! So far, Cirque has agreed to refund 100% for the tickets. Still waiting on an answer for the hotel ... but will be trying to change for before or after 11 day cruise next year.

Avast, ye seadogs. This be "Talk like a pirate day". So, all you scalawags from the May Repo cruise, it's time to say "Arrrrrgh".

Pirate take over at Town Hall
16 September 2005
IT WAS a case of shiver me timbers at the home of Havering Council last week when a pirate flag was raised above the Town Hall.

The Recorder has learnt that the skull and crossbones, also known as the Jolly Roger, was raised on the Town Hall's flagpole overnight on Thursday, September 8.

It stayed there until Friday morning, when council bosses realised it was flying and replaced it with the Union Jack.

A spokesman for the council said: "The council can confirm that the Skull and Crossbones flag was flown from the Town Hall flagpole during Thursday night.

"The alarms were activated and the person was apprehended by police. The flag was removed early on Friday morning."

Flagpole

The skull and crossbones replaced the Union Jack, which is on the central flagpole on top of the Town Hall.

"On one side of the Union Jack is the cross of St George and on the other is the Havering Council flag."

It is unclear why the skull and crossbones were raised, but national Talk Like a Pirate Day is being held on September 19.

Mad Cap'n Tom, who runs the event's website, denied his pirates had anything to do with it.

He said: "I ne'er even be near Romford, to be honest with you, though I think it would be wondrous.

"If the blaggards that be fillin' the local gov'mnt not be able to take a joke, then I be givin' them no quarter, matey.

"Whoever it be rasin' that flag, I like to be buyin' em a few mugs of grog."

It is not known whether pirates entered the Town Hall and if any pieces of eight were exchanged

Ashley! Thanks for posting that. I can only imagine if someone did something like that in the State office building Joe + I work in! That would be great. Sometimes I feel like I work for a band of pirates! :rotfl2: So, they might as well fly the flag high!

At Key West we went in an awesome Pirate Museum called Pirate Soul. It is quite new and had one of the 2 Jolly Roger (pirate) flags known to be in existance. The 3 of us got a picture in front of the flag along with someone there who looked JUST LIKE JOHNNY DEPP, dressed in full costume pirate:

Wow! I didn't know it really WAS "talk like a pirate day." I thought it was just a game we were playing! Ha ha ha! :teeth:

Happy Tuesday to all... :wave2:

At the risk of sounding like a broken record (one that's been SMASHED into smitherines...)

When Joe + I returned back to work after a WONDERFUL WDW + DCL vacation with Brandon (our nephew), we learned there had been yet another re-organization. :guilty:

Many of you prayed me through my last test and I scored very well :goodvibes . However, now, I will be reporting not to a Manager, and not to a Project Manager, but to a Software Design Specialist. Myu new manager is strictly playing by the rules. And although I was the acting project manager, and am STIll the one who is bearing the full load of the project, I now have to report to the new kid on the block. I cannot ask him to help out with the programming work load, but I can give him the management tasks which I am doing. ;)

Just to sum up... I am very sad, and once again have stressed out to the point of being sick. Each day, it seems like I die a little bit more. Guess I really have to try to look ahead with the best of thoughts... I just can't seem to get there in light of this new news.

Thanks for listening... :listen: ever so much! :lovestruc
Georgie

Hi Georgie! I just wanted to offer my prayers and pixie dust that things work out for you. :wizard:

I completely understand what you are going through and I know how stessed and hurt you must feel. I recently switched jobs and left my previous employer of 10 years because I too was in a similar situation (many times!) and just couldn't take it any longer. The company had been bought out or split apart 4 times and we'd had at leasat one re-org a year. I saw new hires and new magangement being hired in at top $$ and they had no idea what they were doing. So who covered for them, ME! (and several other hard-working dedicated long term employees). Every time there was a change I just got a heavier work load and no more pay or recognition.

They were completely shocked when I gave them my resignation. They offered me more $$, mgmt, etc. Everything except what I wanted (development) because that is now being handled out of Boston. My theory is - Why would I stay with a company where I have to threaten to quit to get the recognition I deserve???

I now have a job working for their largest client (who is also tired of the other companies business ethics/dealings) and I am helping them create their own software. Starting a new job after 10 years with the same company is very scary. It was very hard leaving all of my friends and the seniority but it really was worth it for me! My new employer is great! I am now making more $$ and they were so anxious to have me start right away that they paid for my May repo vacation after only being hear a few weeks! (I started on 4/25/05). Their mgmt knows what is going on and they really listen to my ideas and opinions.

Sometimes the grass is greener on the other side. There are a lot of good companies out there that respect their employees. Although, it is a tough decision and is not a guarantee. Good Luck!

Thanks everyone! Just to hear from my cruise "family" is a boost. I can feel the hugs! :grouphug: Got back from the doctor's...antibiotics and rest today + tomorrow.

As far as work... I will put it out of my mind at least for today + tomorrow! :goodvibes

A Thank-You to my Repro Family

Sometimes we don't know what to do when life throws us a curve :duck:
When things get bad, it takes all we have to rise up and release our nerve :cheer2:
We do our best and take a rest and call on family and friends :grouphug:
They give us hope, and ready the boat to set sail around the bend :boat:

God gives us hearts and dreams to hold His precious plans each day :lovestruc
When doubt comes out we want to shout our anger and dismay :headache:
I know He will this moment still and take me by the hand
He'll give me a song and lead me on to walk through all He's planned. :goodvibes Is. 41:10
Thanks for being there while I wait for the dawn! :cloud9: That's when things seem the darkest!

Georgie

Oh Georgie! I am so sorry to hear your news!! :sad1:

Be sure and rest today and tomorrow!! Gather your strength and do what you do best...always smiling, always a kind word and always a positive attitude! You can get through this too! Big hugs! :grouphug: :grouphug:

I'll be thinking of you!

Hi Georgie

Sorry for your trouble at work. You could take next week off and join me on a short bicycle ride! That will take your mind off work!

I've adopted a new personal motto - No matter how big the hill, just keep pedaling.

Ken

Georgie here is a big :grouphug: .

My best advice for you is to get to the May Repo Cruise site where we posted our pictures so that you can relive our trip. Those pictures and memories should put a smile on your face and a calm in your heart.

And for Ken (in my best Dory voice) Just keep peddling, just keep peddling, peddling, peddling...

Georgie..lots of good advice is coming your way...its true get out your pictures and think of all the great times ahead ... get a good nights sleep and often things seem better the next day. Work can be tough but little things like LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR SPECIAL 2007 CRUISE and following everyones excitement about the 11 day cruise makes me forget the crazier moments!! HUGS SENT YOUR WAY...sharon :wave2:

Georgie,

Did you swoon like a maiden in distress when you saw the Johnny Depp look-a-like?

Renae

Georgie,

That's awful!!! An employer like that doesn't deserve to be one! Maybe you should raise a pirate flag and mutiny! I'm sorry to be flip, but it makes me so mad... Good luck and pixie dust are headed your way, along with our prayers.

Renae

Georgie

I wish we lived closer, so I could give you a :grouphug: in person.

Sending you a :grouphug: from Mom, too!!!!
