Good Afternoon, fellow cruisers!
It's time for my introductions - DH Henry (or Harry) and I live in SE PA, out in farm country, which is being invaded by city people. (ex: our local paper had an article today about people calling up to complain about the "peepers" (frogs) being too loud at night, thereby violating the noise ordinance.
We used to grow mushrooms and now currently turn the spent mushroom compost into potting soil. It is the ultimate in organic recycling. It's fantastic stuff - I am the only one cutting grass in a drought.
I am now a lucky stay-at-home mom. I am a former pediatric nurse (NICU, office, even elementary school RN) and now breed small furball dogs called Havanese. I have six lively dogs. We have five kids, three which are coming on the cruise: Sarah, a junior at James Madison University, who turns 21 on Sunday, Kelsey, who turns 16 TODAY!!!
(I really should be frosting the cake instead of playing on the computer... when I asked Kelsey what meal she wanted for her birthday dinner, she said she wanted to go out. Hmmm- should I take this personally? Nah, I want to go out, too.) Michael, who turns 12 on the cruise, is our youngest. His teachers are really understanding about the 2 wks. absence from school. The high school teachers, however, are another matter. The English teacher (20's) said it was really dumb to go on a cruise just before finals. Get over it!
Our two oldest, Jason, 27(& wife Chris) and Matt,25 are flying out to join us when we dock in LA for a weekend in Disneyland (to which they have never been). DH can't wait to have the gang all together, even if it is for two days. Jason, Chris and Matt did the Disney full marathon this past January - their first ever marathon. I was a trooper and got up to cheer them on at the 24 miles mark
- after watching the lead runner whizz on by at full speed.
I called DCL this morning to drop an excursion and casually asked if our documents had been mailed yet. NOPE! They say they get a UPS tracking number in your reservation when they have been mailed. They said they are probably "in queue" for printing and mailing. Let's hope that line moves a little quicker for us all! The only new news she could tell me is that she is told they will have a new adult game show on board.
Well, got to go frost this cake.
At least Kelsey likes my homemade birthday cakes. She's got a shopping bag full of gifts waiting for her when she gets home from school - mostly cruise clothes, blinky flip-flops, and a camera - so SHE can be in charge of taking the pictures on the cruise!
