Ahoy thar!

Want to take a look at my Pirate door magnets? Well, instead of working on my taxes (only a couple of weeks left, I know!) I created a blog to share.

Good Morning Fellow Cruisers,

Over the weekend I came up with an idea for a cruise sail away gift. We will be making letters of Marque for Pirate Night.

History Lesson Time: Governments used these letters as an instrument of State, to augment their National Navy. This gave the State a naval force, which could attack the commerce of the enemy at no cost to public funds.

The privateers acted on a commission recognized under the Law of Nations. One of the principle clauses of a letter of marque is that of specifically naming the country whose vessels can be legally captured. There were heavy penalties if the property of other nations was violated.

Letters of Marque did not completely safeguard a privateer from prosecution even when ships of certain countries were excluded from attacks. When a privateer is captured by hostile nations he is often charged with being a pirate and swiftly executed. Also when countries make peace between them and a privateer fails to get the news about this in time he can be prosecuted if he continues to attack ships of the now friendly nation. Sometimes a privateer is such a long time away from home or the colonies that he only hears the news of a peace treaty when he returns home from his privateering enterprise.

Enough study - Laurie has most graciously shared her pirate name list with me for this endeavor. So to get your DIS Letter of Marque for your group you will need top be on the list. International Magnet rules apply. i.e. one per family or individuals in the cabin.

Hey Westbounders!

Just thought I would post this here also for you to enjoy!

Disney Cruise Line is proud to announce a brand new original musical that will open on the westbound Trans-Canal voyage of the Disney Magic on May 25, 2005. The show is called "Twice Charmed - An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story," and it is based on the classic Disney film, "Cinderella."

The show begins at the end of the famous story as Cinderella and her Prince are wed. However, Cinderella's evil stepmother, Lady Tremaine, and her obnoxious stepsisters believe that if it weren't for the glass slippers, Cinderella would never have won the heart of the prince. They call upon Lady Tremaine's evil Fairy Godfather for help, and trouble ensues.

The show features six original songs and two classic songs from the film. Disney Cruise Line guests are sure to experience the story of Cinderella in a whole new way with this production.

This new show will replace "Hercules - the Muse-ical" onboard the Disney Magic. The last performance of "Hercules - the Muse-ical" on the Disney Magic will take place during the April 9, 2005 voyage. In the meantime, Disney Magic voyages beginning April 16, 2005 through May 7, 2005 will feature a special evening of entertainment. The April 16th and 23rd voyages will feature the Bumblesquats, known for their amazingly hilarious and artful "cirque-like" entertainment. Magician Mike Super will be featured on the April 30th voyage and the juggling team of Wilde & Haines will be onboard the May 7th sailing.

"Twice Charmed - An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story" will only be performed on the Disney Magic. The Disney Wonder will continue to feature "Hercules - the Muse-ical."

Now I am back to the Eastbound Thread.

Hoo boy, the pressure of coming up with pirate names mounts! pirate: Scott, that's very interesting. Could we be trying to take over eachother's cabins under these letters of marque? Or will we all be 'friendlies'? Just curious...I need to know if those of us with cabins need to defend against those of you with lifeboat suites...ARGH! pirate:

Who else is flying Southwest to Orlando?

I know it's not everyone's first choice...but, we couldn't beat the price from California.

We are also flying ********* (I said that I wouldn't mention their name again and I don't want to start the airline wars again) from LAX to Orlando on May 11. Get in at about 3:45pm or so. Used them for 3 out of 4 cruises. We are lucky this time - only have to fly one way. And to add to that luck, I had a rapid rewards ticket - can't beat that price!

We are flying from Oakland to Orlando on Southwest On May 11. We couldnt beat the price either. Especially for a one way ticket!

Dan and Scott, Thanks for the info on “Twice Charmed”.

We are using FF mile on Delta, only down side is we have to drive a 100 miles to Idaho Falls the night before. Will arrive at WDW about 4:30pm on May 11. Will look for Ken & Shari and Amy & Steve also, at the MCO. Just look for the folks with the max amount of baggage and this wild eyed anticipation.

Hi Scott

Are you going to use the new "Magical Express" service (does that work for DVC members?). If so, we could be on the same bus since we will be at the Port Orleans.

Amy & Steve,

What time is your flight? We are on the 7:35am flight that morning!

We will have a rental car, but will keep a weather eye out. Would offer you all a ride but by the time we get all our stuff in a Full size car you might have to ride on the roof.

Magical Express does work for DVC members, sounds like a good deal and will be using it in December to get back to MCO.

We're flying from Seattle on Southwest. The one way prices were just too cheap to refuse. We get in to MCO around 7 on the 13th. We're staying near MCO that night (Priceline for $50) and will drive to the port in a rental car. I'm a little nervous about the free shuttle to the port and all (I'm pretty neurotic), but I'm sure it will be fine. If there is too long of a wait, we'll take a taxi.

Dan,

Thanks for the info. Looks like we now know one date of the evening shows!

Appreciate you taking time to fill us in! :goodvibes

Now, if I could only put the rest of the nights together, I could book my Palo's reservation!

Does anyone know what morning the Character Breakfast might be??? With the REAS we get to book Palos and brunch and spa ahead of time. I'm hoping I pick a good time so I don't have to change it later due to "more interesting" happenings on board! ;)

Decisions, decisions, and the sand of time is ticking! :hourglass
