If anyone is planning on visiting Mission Space at EPCOT, do it on an empty stomach. I rarely get nauseaous and I was a bit queasy at times.

I feel that way,and funny enough I have found that it affects me for about 3 hours afterwards, whereas DW doesnt notice it at all and will ride 2 or 3 times

I plan to bring this lightweight hooded rain jacket I have, and also found the cutest "mini" umbrella. Hopefully we won't hit too much rain, but if we do I will be prepared. I plan to be up top while transiting the canal, wet or not. :umbrella:

Have a great day everyone!

Robin

we always bring our ponchos, when we were in Nassau in 2000 it poured with rain and that is the only memory and photos I have of it ,so I cannot visualise that it is usually sunny there.

we will be arriving from the UK late on 12th May staying at the Embassy Suites at the airport, then getting DCL Bus on 14th .I know BobandLee will be staying there.Anyone Else ?

Will be looking forward to happy hour!!!

Pet wise we just have 1 wild cat,who will be staying with DW parents,so no problem other than wildness.

The cat bit DW last week, and several years ago when he attacked DW it took three visits to the medical centre and four lots of antibiotics for DW to recover.

It has been suggested we visit the Psychiatrist (the cat that is not DW)

That's O.K. I didn't know either. Did a little check on the boards here and got this--
In the front of the Canada pavilion is a little shack that sells one of the most delicious snacks in Epcot, Beavertails. Beavertails are whole wheat pastries deep fried and covered with delicious flavorings like Chocolate & Maple, Cinnamon Sugar, Apples & Cinnamon, Strawberries & Cream and Killaloe Sugar. The trading post houses the "Northwest Mercantile" shop. Here you'll find Roots clothing, lumberjack shirts, maple syrup, soapstone carvings, Off Kilter CDs and Indian moccasins

Exactly! We personally loved the maple and chocolate, though it was really nutella they spread on it, then a coating of powdered sugar. They were a great snack and you could eat it while walking around! So bummed they stopped making them. We were told that it was because their supplier was not reliable enough.

Have never tried them ,but what we love are the funnel cakes which they sell near the america gardens

Also at one time they used to sell strawberry shortcake at mickeys Tunetown fair ,but i think they stopped because of the mess .

Well if you bring a rain poncho/jacket and an umbrella, along with a video camera, you can do your own hurricane report from deck 10 forward in all the wind. :) Do it at night cause it's more effective! If it's not raining I will throw a bucket of water on you, and flash a few pics for lightning!

:rotfl2:

I pass...Nothing like a large wet dog in a small dry stateroom.....My poncho is for the scooter...

..........We just grab a couple of those disposable camping ponchos just in case. They fold up very small, easy to carry with, even in the backpack while in port.

....So..for those of you going to DL afterwards..have you all made your ps's?
We are going to Napa Rose for dinner on the 28th, Blue Bayou for lunch on the 29th, and we are trying the new Lilo and Stitch Character breakfast at the Paradise Pier Resort on the 30th. Everything else we will play by ear. Our daughter is driving down to meet us, she is stationed at Edwards AFB.

Allright you experienced cruisers...another packing question:

Is there a need for rain ponchos on the cruise? Do you bring them? I have our bag we usually take to WDW, but I was interested in the general consensus on bringing them or no???

Thanks in advance!

Michelle

Yes-bring your lightweight ponchos! May 2003 while we were doing our transit through the PC it was 83 degrees, cloudy, and drizzled off and on all day long. But it didn't dampen anyone's spirits. DH found it extremely handy when drying to keep cameras and binoculars dry since the ship was unable to maneuver around it!

Let's get pixie dust sent our way for :sunny:
and for here too! It's been snowing in Utah for a day now...............

Ashley-you and I are on the same wavelength! As I was reading about the beavertails I was thinking, oh, go back to the American Gardens and have a funnel cake with strawberries. YUM!

I love having frozen chocolate covered bananas at WDW. But they are hard to find. At AK they are back by the jeep safari on a travelling cart. But generally they are not at very many ice cream stands.

Scott! I gave the sands of time a kick! Hope that helps speed things up! :hourglass

Gosh, so many of you guys (yes I'm from NJ) are heading down EARLY! Lucky you!

Scott, Lynn, Ken + Shari I WISH I COULD BE THERE TO SEE YOU! What fun!

NO BEAVER TAILS! :sad2: There was ALWAYS a line when we were there. My nephew and my DH will REALLY miss them! I'm glad we got to have them for a while.

We'll be flying down on the 14th in the morning. Cuttin it close, but couldn't work it any other way!

Yes, Disney's shuttle service is available to DVC members. We'll be using it when we go down for the Member Cruise. I didn't adk about it, but when I reserved at the Beach CLub Villas, the DVC Rep offered it. :goodvibes

If you're staying at Port Orleans or Riverside, the the carriage ride at night! It was such a relaxing way to end the evening looking up at the stars. You'll go right along the "river" from Riverside to PO and down the cobble streets.

We're finally starting to think about packing! YIPEE!!! I'm gonna need all the pixie dust I can get to get ready in time! :wizard:

Hi everyone,

Just an FYI if you are a fan of the Rainforest Cafe Restaurants. I just spoke with reservations at the RFC at Downtown Disneyland and was able to make reservations for 5/28 for the evening we arrive from the cruise. They did say they expect to be VERY busy, being the ship is in, and Memorial Day weekend. So anyhow, if you want to go there, give them a call and make a reservation, then you will not be "shut" out.

Also, we have the Dollar Tree store chain here and they have great throwaway rain ponchos, 2 for $ 1.00. We used these last year and they are really sturdy and worked great, they have clear & orange. They also sell these tiny umbrellas that I take on the cruise and again pitch at the end if they are trashed.

Bye, Kim

P.S.

No Coconut
No Recipe
No Passport letter from DCl
No cabin

Does anyone know if a blackberry will work for email onboard? Is it like the cellphones and will only work in port in FL? We have an amex, and I saw in their little brochure thingy that you can rent international cellphones from them - they just mail it to your house and you return it after. We have old dogs and even older grandmothers that have health issues, we'd like to not be completely incommunicado.
Hey Emily. I have first hand knowledge of both, because I have a blackberry and a coworker and I both were trying to get messages on the 10-day cruise. He also had one of the international phones.

Bottom line? You're better off with unlimited internet access. It will be far more reliable. Blackberries only worked when in SOME ports, not all. The international phone didn't work very well either. In fact, your standard cell phone may work better and be about the same price. But even then, it will only work in port or when we're passing very close to land, like puerto rico. Not even sure we pass near there this time. Scott?

Kara, Sometimes the best navigators don’t know where they are going till they get there.

We may sail between Cuba and Haiti. My guess would be we head towards the PR and VI and towards the Leewards, as we have two days to get to CUR. Just looked at the DCL map of our cruise and it shows the route as between Cuba and Haiti.

New guess after some very rough figuring 1200 via Cuba/Haiti route vs. 1500 via the Leewards. Fuel cost would dictate the shorter route. Will have to sail at about 17 kts.

Ah...very interesting. Sounds like we won't be close enough to get signal on the old electronic com devices.

Thanks Scott!

Oh Sharon, I wish you could too! I miss our Canadian treat at Epcot!

Thought I would post a quick note about the Zazzle shirts now that we have them.

I bought two shirts - the premium mens and the women's babydoll. The men's premium shirt is really nice. And the design is just gorgeous. Now, I normally wear a small womens t-shirt (LL Bean, Lands End, Eddie Bauer, etc.). But based on what people were saying here, I ordered an XL in the babydoll style. Boy, am I glad I did! It's still a bit tight and cannot be shrunk at all! Oh, and as an aside, they screwed up the logo on the back, so I sent them and email this morning to see how I can get a new t-shirt. It was supposed to be the pin design on front, then the flipped design on the back. But the design ended up being exactly the same on front and back...
