I was checking out the space website, and it looks as though the shuttle mission is still in place for our sailaway day....

How cool will this be if it really will be on that day?

Robin (aka Brunhilda Pink Toe pirate: )

That would be unreal. What a way to start the cruise! 14 days, fireworks, panama canal & the shuttle... and wine... ;)

Mickbee,

I looked at many options from Port of LA to GC and from GC to LAX.

Port of LA to GC: DCL $25 pp.; Hertz $54 per day with $10 reimbursable taxi fare to pick up car and no drop off fee; Enterprise $?? per day with $25 drop off fee; Super Shuttle $37 first person $10 each additional person.

GC to LAX: Info per Grand Californian operator.
Airport Bus $16 pp. picks up passengers at GC every hour;
Super Shuttle $16 pp. GC staff makes reservation 24 hours prior to departure (Super Shuttle usually schedules pick-up 3 hours before flight time.);
Towncar $85 plus 20% tip GC makes reservation;
Limo $125 plus 20% tip GC makes reservation.

Hope this helps.

Steve, we have never used Primetime but have a reservation anyway. We put together a group of 8 folks, van holds nine, and the cost will be about $25 per couple plus tip.

Shuttle launch is a go.... how kewl...

More excellent info!!! It is a huge relief to know there are a few options. I like the ability to reserve the shuttle from the GC.

We are taking a limo from Windermere to the Port the morning of the cruise and picked up at MCO. Last time we had a blast! Champagne at 9:30 am. :)

Jen and Jeff, great job on the updates.. Thanks

Just bring the wine and Dreams will take care of everything else.

HELP!!!!!!! I have created an Ebay Junkie.... Ask for a suggestion about a dress , tell her about Ebay, I guess that is how it starts.... LOL anyway Lynn was very amazed at the deals to be found on Ebay.

I think I have my lists up to date and will post again after a couple of days go by.

Welcome back from Lurk Land to Sharon Eeyorefreak and crew. Eeyore is Lynn's favorite.

Welcome......

In reading (brief review) my Disney Annual Report here are some DL things I noticed:

Castle to get a "Golden Sheen"

Buzz Lightyear at DL

Re-launch of Space Mountain with special effects and digital technology

New parade "Walt Disney's Parade of Dreams"

Fireworks "Remember.....Dreams Come True"

CA - "Block Party Bash"

All sounds interesting to me.

OK you FL folks here is a question for you about the Shuttle Launch.

We will be driving ourselves to the port on the morning of 5/14, so I understand traffic gets to be pretty hectic. So how much extra time should we allow to drop off the car and get a shuttle to the port? We like being at the Port early.

Robin (aka Brunhilda Pink Toe pirate: )

Oh my gosh!!! That would be soooooooooooooo cool!!! How close is Kennedy Space Center? What time does the ship leave the dock? Will we really be able to see the Shuttle?

Wow, this trip is getting better and better everyday!!

Laurie AKA Captain Mary Flint pirate:

KSC is "right over there"! :teacher: You will be able to see it. When Columbia went up the last time, we were at PO Riverside and could see it. Even saw the separation, it was incredible. Now all you starboard side people need to make friends with those on the port side..... :love2: or go up above. Now, just need NASA to follow their schedule!!!

We first saw a landing back in '96 or so. We were in a hotel in Cocoa Beach when the alarm went off and they happened to be talking about the landing happening right now. Got up and opened the curtain to see the shuttle go by very fast, then went back to bed. Took all of 2 minutes out of bed. Great timing! :teeth:

Change of subject.....I've been checking out the rental car situation in CA, not sure if I was the last one or not..... :rolleyes: But here's what I've found out--if you want National, ya gotta go to LAX. :moped: Avis has a loc in Long Beach, but no shuttle--they say its 7 or 8 miles. :guilty: Further than I care to walk or take a cab! Budget has a shuttle, and the 800# says you have to let them know 24 hours in advance you'll need the shuttle, but the local office says, "If you have a reservation, we'll pick you up, just call when you exit customs". So much better to talk to the people doing the work!!! I got a premium (Grand Marquis) for $7 a day more than a full size (Taurus), turns out to be $125 after taxes. Not a great deal, but I'm tired of screwing around with it!! :badpc:

Hope everyone has a great weekend, we're busy getting my niece to age 18, and me to Denver for a training class. Plus, a basketball game today!

Please put Keith, Kelli, and Etta down for the sailaway party! Come on May!!! :hourglass:

Kelli
