Be at the Living Seas Observation area on 5/12 at 5:30 PM, and see Ken, Shari, Lynn, and Scott defy years of evolution as they breathe underwater with the assistance of Msr. Cousteau’s Aqualung invention. We will wave to you.

Any one else interested??
Hope to make it..

I also want to see if I can get on Soarin' at Epcot. Having read some of the first hand accounts, I think I can handle it.

So if anyone is at Epcot on May 12, you will find me at the Off Kilter stage.... generally stage left...in front of Randy, the guitarist. :wave2:

We are also flying in from Chicago to MCO on Friday the 13th on Southwest, arrive around 10 in the morning. Picking up a rent a car and heading to WDW. Dropping the car at Hertz by the port.

In La got a rent a car from Enterprise and will drop it at the airport on Monday and catch another Southwest flight home.

Kind of like Peter and Jenn, $5.00 on the way down (free tickets) and $79 back from LA to Chicago.

Can't wait for the days to go by.

That's O.K. I didn't know either. Did a little check on the boards here and got this--
In the front of the Canada pavilion is a little shack that sells one of the most delicious snacks in Epcot, Beavertails. Beavertails are whole wheat pastries deep fried and covered with delicious flavorings like Chocolate & Maple, Cinnamon Sugar, Apples & Cinnamon, Strawberries & Cream and Killaloe Sugar. The trading post houses the "Northwest Mercantile" shop. Here you'll find Roots clothing, lumberjack shirts, maple syrup, soapstone carvings, Off Kilter CDs and Indian moccasins

Thanks Bob

Thought it was some Canadian dish I was missing out on!!!!

Boy you've all been chatty! I think 6 pages is the most I've had to catch up on in a while!!

Thanks Regina for the info. I scoured it well. Then I got on the phone with DCL. No info yet on any potential special entertainment for the cruise such as Christy Romano.

Here is a question: I know that the computers cant send files, but is there a business center or something if I have to send a file out of a computer? Is the only alternative the dialup? I just want to be prepared, if that is possible...

Unfortunately, there isn't even a business center. You might be able to catch the attendant at the Internet Cafe and see if they will let you use their computer to do it, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

You can try the phone, but like the Internet connection, it is subject to the signal from the satellite. When we were in port, the connection was always good, although not especially fast. But the last time, we had enough of a rough sea to cause the connection to drop repeatedly when we were moving. If it can hold for a day or two, you may be better off waiting for the next port, and finding a local Internet Cafe to send any files. You may also be able to print something (they do have a printer available) and talk Guest Services into sending a fax for you. They won't always do it, but can sometimes be talked into it.

On travel, we are flying in from Long Beach, Calif on the 13th, via Dallas. We'll be in that afternoon, and will probably head for Boma for dinner as soon as we land. (DW is absolutley addicted, and she will pout if she doesn't get her Boma fix). Staying the night at the Sheraton Suites by the airport for the night, and then will have a limo service (Top One Tours) take us out to the ship in the morning.

Thanks aphoenix.....

note to self...add printer to packing list...great...just what I need - more to pack...LOL...

I hope all are having a great night!!!!

Allright you experienced cruisers...another packing question:

Is there a need for rain ponchos on the cruise? Do you bring them? I have our bag we usually take to WDW, but I was interested in the general consensus on bringing them or no???

Thanks in advance!

Michelle

You would think Jeff wouldn't have to post under me, but the silly man can't remember to look to see who his laptop is logged in as.....
Anyways, beavertails are no more. The true fried ones have been gone for years, the psuedo fried ones disappeared from the cart about a year ago. It's now a wine cart...

For those of you doing DiveQuest on the 13th, jeff and I can be there to photograph is for you.

Good question, Michelle.

I was wondering the same thing. We have our mickey mouse ponchos from our trip to WDW last June.

RE Rain Ponchos: During foul weather the Magic will be maneuvered to avoid squalls, well as much as possible. Also one can kinda move about the ship during times of rain without being exposed to the weather. Yet we will be in the little latitudes during the rainy season. Light foul weather gear is on our packing list.

I plan to bring this lightweight hooded rain jacket I have, and also found the cutest "mini" umbrella. Hopefully we won't hit too much rain, but if we do I will be prepared. I plan to be up top while transiting the canal, wet or not. :umbrella:

Have a great day everyone!

Robin

We won't be bringing anything. We were in Cozumel last October and got drenched. It was actually fun since it was so warm. And the days it rained on board we just dealt with it.

We're doing a Friday the 13th flight too.

(on Southwest)

QUOTE]

Az Pirates,

We might be on the same flight as you. We are flying w/ Southwest on the 8:30 flight. But we are taking America west on the way home:)

It seems as though the AZ group is all flying on the same SW flight to MCO on the 13th see you there.

5 pages is a lot to catch up on WHEW!

WOO HOO!!! I finally have a room. #2108. It''s all coming together now! I really needed that little pick-me-up today! :sunny: Hope everyone is having a great week. I have not had any time to write, but do try to keep up with the post to brighten my day! So, even though I may not write, I am still thinking of you all :flower:

Rain Ponchos We visited Belize/Panama/Costa Rica last year and needed our rain ponchos for a couple of excersions- worked better than umbrellas.

We have felt out of things lately- we have no pets to get care for we are here in central Florida, we are staying on for the 1st West coast cruise, no DL visit and then LA to MCO flight.

If anyone is planning on visiting Mission Space at EPCOT, do it on an empty stomach. I rarely get nauseaous and I was a bit queasy at times.

Hope everyone hears about their cabin assisgnments soon (and get their upgrades). Alex

Well if you bring a rain poncho/jacket and an umbrella, along with a video camera, you can do your own hurricane report from deck 10 forward in all the wind. :) Do it at night cause it's more effective! If it's not raining I will throw a bucket of water on you, and flash a few pics for lightning!

Does anyone know if a blackberry will work for email onboard? Is it like the cellphones and will only work in port in FL? We have an amex, and I saw in their little brochure thingy that you can rent international cellphones from them - they just mail it to your house and you return it after. We have old dogs and even older grandmothers that have health issues, we'd like to not be completely incommunicado.
