We have the same problem Kara. When we went to Australia we left Copper (Josie wasn't part of the pack yet) with friends in our house so they could house sit/ dog sit for the month. Well things did not go as planned and Copper wound up spending most of the time by himself. When we came home we had a neurotic beagle on our hands who refused to accknowledge our existance. It took a month or so for Copper to be sorta back to normal. So this trip I pretty much put my foot down and said either family was going to dog sit or we were putting them up in the puppy palace. Well we couldn't get family to house sit, so my mom (the dogs love Grandma) is splurging and putting them up in the palace the whole time we're gone. When we pick them up, they usually don't want to come home with us...

I found a visiting professor who is taking care of our dog & house while we are gone for FREE!

I can't believe how lucky we got!

Did they give you anything at the beginning of the cruise that gave a tentative schedule for the entire 10 day cruise? I've only been on the 4 day cruise and I can't remember if we got something for all four days or only knew what to expect from the navigators we received each day.

Another unrelated question... I know some of you are planning to send things down to the Magic so those things will be on board when you get there. Is there anyone in this group who actually has done this before? :earsboy:

Marie

The first day we got on the ship in that night's Navigator, they gave us the themed, formal and semi formal rundown. It was pretty funny, because we had all been calling DCL to get when Pirate Night, Formal Night, etc., etc., were and then when we got on the ship they had changed formal night and Pirate night to different nights. But once they put those in the first night, they did not change. However, they were having daily problems with the Navigators because they had never done a 10 day before and they kept putting things in as if it were a 7 day cruise. We all tried to keep them on their toes. Just check with Guest Services if something seems wrong in the navigator. (i.e. talent show rehearsal).

My guess is we are the guinnea pigs and they will just basically copy the Navigators for the reverse direction in August. I was told 2 formal nights, 2 semi formal nights, Tropical Night, Pirate Night, Master Chef Series, etc., etc. but not on what nights.

Ahoy thar!

Want to take a look at my Pirate door magnets? Well, instead of working on my taxes (only a couple of weeks left, I know!) I created a blog to share. Check it out at:

pirate: pirate:

Captain Mary Flint-Aargh matey!

Those are quite the door magnets! Love The Incredibles! Put us down for that!

Grainne O'Malley Goldheart and Kidd the Cutthroat.

Laurie, I love the door magnet designs! You're inspiring me to find pirate names for all in my sailing party. I noticed that you live pretty close to us!

Kara,
I thought you guys had pirate names!?! I just checked my list and NO!

ARRRGH! pirate:

Yes, we do live pretty close!

Our Kids will be heading to the Kennel from whence two of them came. I call it puppy camp. Yuki, our eldest, and Kahiltna the soon to be three year old, both are on daily meds for thyroid, then there is Taiya, the pup of perpetual motion. At the kennel they get a nice run and daily time in a big recreation pen. They don’t mind going, as they load right up when they come to get them. The kennel is 70 miles away, just down the block here in Wyoming. Hopefully they will take a real nice whelping box as part of the boarding fees. No more puppies for us given Kahiltna’s thyroid condition (genetic counseling was advised), so she was recently spayed.

Jen, I understand completely! We had a pet sitter YEARS ago that must have tormented our one cat, because she would be totally skittish when we got home from a weekend away. And this is a cat that comes looking for you when you get home from work. She even comes to investigate new visitors. That pet sitter got fired fast. I can't blame these new pet sitters for this dilemna though...we just have over-protected our pets, so now our pup can't handle being without human contact for more than a few hours.

Nope, just haven't come up with cool pirate names yet (Read: ones that I like, :rotfl: )

I'll see what I can come up with and PM you... pirate:

DVC told me last Friday that we would get our documents from DCL two weeks before departure.

We still don't have a cabin yet either. So we are on the deck chairs or lifeboats also. Seems like quite a few of us are there.

UGH..................

We're still sleeping on deck, too. You'd think with all the cabins available they'd be able to assign, but I think they're probably waiting until the last minute to see how many categories have remaining cabins. Maybe we'll get upgraded! Or maybe not. I don't care! I have a window and that's all I need. And the banana. I have the banana.

:rotfl: :rotfl2: Okay, how much do we love the banana?!?

In all reality, most folks will start to see docs about a month ahead of time. Usually, those that booked directly with DCL will get theirs first, then those who booked through TA's. Then it's up to your TA to turn the docs around to you. :rolleyes1 It always helps if your TA is also a friend that you can take to lunch... princess: I'm betting that most people will get their docs 3-4 weeks out. Unless you are Linda! Then you will cut it to the wire! :bitelip:

We have two dogs and a cat to put in the kennel (well Pet spa...lol) as well,
Big, the English Bulldog,
Scooter the Lhaso Apso
and Furby the Persian...

figured for the time we will be gone it will be almost $1400..yikes!

We tried a pet sitter once..lol, good thing we were only a few hours away, Big wouldn't let her in the house. He was fine with all the practice runs, all her pre-vacation visits, but wouldn't let her in after we were gone.

:rotfl: And I thought I had problems! Yikes! Boy, the sums we pay for our kids to get all the creature comforts!

Hi Laurie! Thanks and what a good job you have done on those! I left you a comment on the blog site, if you don't get it, let me know. (First time blogging for me pirate: )

Oh boy, I guess I should get busy on my pirate costume! I only started cutting it out this weekend, and time is running out!

Bob, Tippy is a true trooper. The most I can get away with is the "My Humans went to Walt Disney World and all I got was this bandana" thing. Foster will wear bandanas, but not ears, antlers, and birthday hats (Scott!).
This picture is from her webpage--
B-DAY.jpg

Yes, she is a trooper. She went to the vet today and took her shots with no problem. Furval the cat had his shots too, but that's another story. :sad2:

It's a big day in South Bend. Not much to do with water or ***** willows. More like sausage, eggs and beer. Dangerous combination, huh?

Can't believe they censored me! :confused3

Oh my goodness!!! :earseek: Those Door magnets are tooo cool!!!!

They are both wonderful!!!! pirate: The second one is cool.

I am at 44 days 13 hours 40 minutes 10 seconds before the plane takes off :rotfl:

Well, since we have lots of critter lovers in the group, I have to tell my sob story. We tried out new pet sitters for the weekend. We left the dog at home with our pet sitters. It did not go well...poor puppy lost his mind! The pet sitter called me after we got home and basically begged us to not leave him at home again. He howled and cried the whole time, even when the pet sitters were there with him. I felt terrible for leaving him! He was so exhausted from the stress, he crashed super early last night.

I'm so sorry about your poor puppy! I know we hated to leave ours alone, even for a day! I hope you can get a solution which will work well for you!
:goodvibes
