2005 Tom Joyner Family Reunion ?

So last year, the Tom Joyner Family Reunion had a concert at MGM on Saturday night (as they are this year). Does anyone know if the concert is AFTER the hours shown on the WDW page? In other words, will folks not at the concert be asked to leave earlier than this says or after the posted hours? The hours are listed as 9-8:30 (AND it's an evening EMH - even more confusing!).

I thought that it was a victim of the hurricane season last year. I thought that the event as a whole was canceled. Maybe I am remembering it wrong. I was not among those that were going to be attending anyway, but I think I remember this to be true. Maggie

From what I hear it happened, but I wasn't there.

Did some google searching...couldn't find out the answer to my ? but i saw that the 2004 reunion was cancelled due to Hurricane Francis.

Basically, the concert is treated just as "Night of Joy" or "MNSSHP" or any other ticketed event. The park will close prior to the event start and open just for guests with tickets. It was cancelled in 2004 as a result of a hurricane. It went on as scheduled last year and was a really nice event.

Oh, I wish we could go during this time! I would love to see all those groups performing, and DH is the world's biggest Hammer fan. Yep, he's a big dork.

Ive seen the Tom Joyner folks at Disney the past 3 years. The reunion wasnt cancelled, maybe some events were but the "Tom Joyner Reunion" shirts were everywhere.

yeah, i got the EMH wrong. I wasn't saying that the whole reunion was cancelled, just the exclusive concert at MGM. from what i've gathered (and no one really seems to know), MGM closes at 8:30 and after that is the concert for the people going. the EMH don't matter as they're in the morning.

Nope it wasnt cancelled last year... Me and DD8 were at WDW last year on this weekend and happened to be at MGM that day.. I didnt realize this was going to be there that weekend but saw the signs at the resort when we checked in on Friday that said MGM was closing early.. It was a little of a bummer but honestly my afterthought is that I was exhausted anyways so probably a good thing we left early.. We did go on to another park for a bit before going back to the hotel..

So you're saying EMH is in this morning?? This site shows EMH shows pm.. I will be at WDW that weekend so Im trying to figure out which park I'll be in.. Can anyone reverify the EMH??

EMH will be in the morning. I was there August 03 and MGM closed really early (before dinner if I'm not mistaken) to other guest and only those holding Family reunion tickets were able to get in afterwards. I know it definitely closed before 8:30. The only other downside to this was that most of the other folks went over to the MK and it got PACKED. I mean wall to wall people. We ended up going back to our resort and doing some pool time. Plan accordingly.

Thanks alot.. I will definitely be there early that morning then and then hop over to Epcot for the remainder of my day.. Im glad I found out this time ahead of time.. I can change my plans accordingly..

Yea, I was confused, too. WDW info line says it's morning (talked to them yesterday and today).
