Kids are all excited. School is closed until Monday because of Charlie! Orlando schools may be closed until Tuesday. If I had only known they were going to be out for the week we would have planed another DC or dive trip. Well, we still might get the dive trip in, local. I'm starting to run out of chores for them to do during the day.

The real question is when are they going to make up these 6 days they have missed. I hope it is not by extending school in December.

Tinksdad, please let me know how it goes keeping boys away from DD. As you may have heard by now, my DD is 10 so I only have a few years left before all my hair turns grey. I'm going to PM you about October dive trip.

Hi all

Wish I was back at WDW rain and all. It hasn't been over 75 since we've been home. I really miss those 90's and all those cute bartenders!! What a blast we had een without the screw top bottles and pointed dixie cups.

Diana so happy to hear you two made it safely home. We thought a lot about you and DD throughout the weekend. Glad to hear Charley couldn't dampen your spirits.

Took DS to see his horse last saturday. She is with the new trainer and is really doing well. I think Gregg is looking forward to riding her (it probobly won't be for a few months yet)
Spent yesterday helping DH witht he hay. OUCH my hands are sore today.

Well I better go help the american Gymnasts win their GOLD!!!!

Vicki
:boat:

Watching the Olympics tonight, too. I love watching the swimmers...since I used to swim competitively. And the gymnasts are fascinating!

Got the traps set for Mr. Mouse. Actually, it must be Mrs. Mouse, because she is building a nest somewhere. Bad news, it is obviously behind a wall.....we found more torn up paper under the kitchen sink. Now I'm really grossed out...the kitchen!

Hi Vicki! I can only imagine how excited Gregg must be, and anxious! You'll have to take pictures when he gets to ride her for the first time.

Scuba Diver......a baseball bat by the front door works wonders when the boys come calling!

Back to the Olympics!

Well, our girls gymnastics aren't doing as well as we had hoped, but how about the male swimmers? :bounce:

I have been thinking about the packing for the cruise. And the clothes, and the fact that not only have I not lost weight, but I have gained a considerable amount.
I've decided that I am not going to stress it. This is a vacation, after all. You all already know what I look like. Of course, I need to lose weight to be healthier.....
But I was thinking about formal nights, and thought more about the idea of the skirts & dressy blouses....I really like that idea.
Anyway....I've decided I'm not going to be as "fancy" as I had first thought. I have some beautiful gowns (that don't fit) and I'm not going to kill myself to get into them. I'm leaning toward comfort, all the way.
And I'm paring down my original list so that I don't have quite so many shoes to bring. With over 50 pair of shoes in my closet, I could give Imelda Marcos a run for her money.
So, one black pair for formal nights, and white sandals for casual or tropical. That's it. And water shoes and tennis shoes.
So why am I going through this long dissertation? I don't know, talking to myself again, I guess.

I just was thinking about hauling half the house, and I decided I don't want to do that. Taking the tuxes is bad enough. And the Christmas decorations, stockings and presents.......started to flash back to all the junk we had for the wedding. Not going to do that again.

 Of course, you know by tomorrow, I will have changed my mind again!

Time for bed.

GOOD WEDNESDAY MORNING TO ALL OF THE HOLIDAY CRUISERS!!!

Good night,
Stacey

Stacey, change your mind all you want. It's your right as a woman!! Good luck getting that mouse!

An update on FIL's health. He's actually in the hospital now, but it's kind of good news. His dr had ordered them to review the data on his pacemaker, and they found out that it had fired. What they now think happened (given the data in the pacemaker...isn't technology amazing?) is that his heart went into extremely fast beating (about 300 times a minute). This meant that it wasn't actually pushing blood around, so no oxygen got to his brain, hence the seizure. The pacemaker is primarily to keep a normal beat, but can't handle that kind of problem in it's regular mode. But it contains a defibrullator, which fired off and shocked him back to normal. They put him in the hospital until the specialist can get to see him (planned for today). There are some new medicines out now to treat this type of heart problem, so they're going to do that in a monitored setting (the hospital). Also, they found out that his pacemaker has been working much more than the normal expected rate. He's had it in for 18 months, the battery normally lasts 6 years, but they think they'll have to replace it within 3 months. Mom is going to talk to the doctors this morning, and tell them about the cruise, and see whether they can get everything taken care of in time for him to be healthy for the cruise. FIL last night said that he really wants this to be fixed so they can go. Like I said, I think it's good news. I'll certainly keep praying though, and would appreciate anyone elses prayers.

Tina, sorry about the stone. I'll put you on that prayer list too.

That's about all the news here. I'm in meetings all day, so I'll probably not check in til tomorrow.

Lisa

:flower1: Good Morning Cruisers! :flower1:

Wonderful Wednesday Everyone!

Lisa - good to hear they have pinpointed what is wrong with your FIL. Prayers going out that it can all be taken care of in time for him to cruise with us.

Stacey- I have lots of weight to lose and while I got off to a great start last year I got derailed and gained most of it back. I have been eating healthier which is great but I've also been snacking too much and not getting the exercise I need. I am what I am so I'll look like my picture on the website. I'm not going to let it stop me from having fun and hopefully no one will mind sharing their cruise with a pooh-size woman.

Well I'm running late so off to read the boards and then to work I go.

Hi Vicki! Where've you been? Sounds like Garry has been keeping you busy. You're a better woman than I, can you see me hauling hay? Yes, we'd like to see pics of Gregg on his horse. Is he going to try for the Olympics in four years? I can't imagine what that would involve.

Lisa, the best news is that your FIL is looking forward to something! That means he's planning to stick around a while.

Jim, you need to rephrase there. October is not a dive trip, it's a Food & Wine Festival trip with a dive as a BONUS! And we are not hauling the dive equipment since they provide it, YAY! Are you guys going to do Mickey's Halloween party on the 8th? I think you need to! Your DD would love it.

That was a drama filled gymnastics final, wasn't it? Felt happy for the Romanian team, sad for the US (esp. Courtney McCool). Although a silver medal isn't anything to sneeze at. Have you ever seen a Russian team display that much emotion? When we were in Vegas for dance Nationals, we saw Courtney McCool's younger sister dance, she won Junior Dancer of the Year. Quite a big deal at that comp with 740 dance routines competing and I don't know how many kids. Huge. At the time, I had no idea she was related to an Olympic gymnast, or even who they were, but I told DD that "Morgan McCool" was a great name for a performer!

Wise choice, Stacey. Those darn shoes weigh more than anything else, anyway. Right now, I'm just trying to be good between trips so I don't get any bigger!

Good morning all!

Lisa-pixie dust headed your way. Glad they found out the problem with FIL and he is back on the road to recovery and getting fixed up!

Stacey-did you find that mouse this morning? Hope it is in that trap you set. We had a mouse run in the front door the other night when DH let out dog before he went to bed for the night. The darn thing ran under the cabinet we had by the front door. So, we played the towel game (DH's idea- and not a good one). Anyway, I went and got big broom and kept door open, and lifted up back end of cabinet and like magic that mouse started running and the broom just helped him right out that front door. Thank goodness!

I've been thinking about clothes and all too! I started dieting also and have been really good. Just keep me away from WDW and DL and all those treats! I have lost 50 pounds since Jan., just hope I can keep it off! I want to lose about 10 more, but now I am kinda stuck and the scale isn't moving. But then, I have been cheating lately too, so maybe that's the reason!

Okay, to work I must go. Meeting with CEO in 10 minutes and board meeting this afternoon.

Linda

Well, I've carved my "whoop a** stick" from a Fir 2x4, practice the "I'm going to rip off your face look" in the mirror at least twice a day and make DD repeat: "Boys are trouble, I'm not getting married until I'm 25" mantra a least once a week.:p

One of my favorite movies lines about this was from Clueless: The dad, a litigation lawyer answered the door and the daughters date thinking to impress him said something smart, he responded:

"I have a 45 (caliber) and a shovel, and I don't think anyone will miss you!"

Cool, I was thinking yesterday we had better get that taken care of. I was thinking you probably had your hands full with clean up and maybe even no power. Glad to hear the only problems are no school.

Good Morning! (I guess, I didn't get much sleep)

Mouse Update: There's more than one!
I was going over excursions last night, and deciding on spa treatments, etc. The rest of the gang were in bed. We had set one trap on the fireplace in the family room, two in the kitchen, and one in the bedroom.
While I was "working" on the computer, I heard a *snap*....sure enough, got the little bugger by the fireplace. I took it out back and tossed it down the canyon.
As I was washing up for bed, I heard another *snap*....looked in the family room, looked in the kitchen....nothing...so I thought I was hearing things. I saw the bedroom light turn on. Jay was taking Mouse #2 out back to toss. This one was in the bedroom. After I got into bed, I couldn't sleep. I kept imagining little mouse feet running all over me! So we either got mom & pop, and there are babies somewhere, or we have an entire village. Now, isn't that a comforting thought? (Mine was a female, I looked. Jay didn't look)

Mary.....I love your "pooh-sized" example....will have to remember that. I'm not fat, I'm "pooh-sized"! Makes it seem cute.
Actually, I've always said I'm not too fat, I'm too short. Or in politically correct terms....I'm "vertically challenged"!

Tinksdad....will have to tell DH to start practicing his "look"!

Lisa...continued best wishes for your FIL. Hopefully they will move fast, and get him on the mend quickly. What a relief to know that they are able to help.

Linda...good for you! I have been on too many trips to be good about my eating. Every Sunday I tell myself that the following Monday is "The Day" to start the new diet. What's today? Wednesday? No diet this week.
I'm not giving up, because I do need to get fit for my health, and to keep up with the kids, but I'm not going to beat myself about it either.

Loved the gymnastics last night! All of us were sitting there, holding our breath, and wincing at mistakes, and cheering the "good" moves. It was late, and the kids should have been in bed, but it was nice to be there as a family, cheering for our country.
And I cry when one of ours is on the podium and they play our national anthem!

Staying home today....laundry and some paper work for the settlement of Dad's estate. We have a sibling making "demands". Where was this sibling when Dad was alive? Never saw this person in two years....no kidding. I'm doing my job as Jay's co-trustee, but I'm not a happy camper. Will just be glad when it's all over. Which will be next March at the earliest.

Off I go....will probably check in every now and then.
Have a great day everybody!!!

Stacey

Just had to come back.....

Last night I was looking at the "Sea" days, and trying to get an idea of a good time to do spa treatments. I hate the thought of missing something fun. But I do love getting a facial.
Decisions, decisions........ and of course, even goin by the previous Navigators, we can't tell for sure what they will be doing at what time. (See, I give up stressing over my weight, and have to replace it with something else to worry about)

Also, I was looking around, and is it true that they now have Jet Ski's at Castaway Cay? That sounds like it would be so much fun! (If I get myself back into shape...there goes that weight thing again) DCL's site doesn't show it as an offering, but I saw pictures and a description at castaway club.

Am thinking of doing the Capt Nautica thing St Thomas day. Better to go with a DCL offering on Christmas Day than to chance it doing something on our own.

Also, has anyone here ever been to Antigua? I want to go to Nelson's Dockyard, but I don't think we want to do the "tour" DCL has. Wondering how hard/easy it is to get there on our own. The books that I have make it sound quick and easy....but that doesn't necessarily mean it's true.

Don't know about Castaway Cay, but Scuba Diver and family are doing a jet ski excursion at Key West, I think on their own. Maybe he will fill us in.

And here's a link to the Ports of Call board on the Cruise Critic boards (Antigua is one), a wonderful source of information for off-ship excursions. I think it's OK to link, they don't sell anything.

Forgot to add, the Antigua board there is full of posts about Eli's Eco tour. I had e-mailed them, and they had some room for our day. I know that Lesley (Pindiva) wants to do this.

Thanks Diana! Lots of great ideas there.....better get my work done quickly so that I can look at all of it!

Hi everyone.

Tina, I hope you are feeling better. Sorry to hear about the stones. I hear that is so painful. I hope they have passed.

Lisa, I am glad to hear that they are monitoring your FIL in the hospital. I hope today is a better day for him.

Stacey, Did you get the mouse yet.

I will never forget our mouse-rat story. Our very close friends were under construction and lived with us for 3 weeks in our finished basement. One night around 12am my girlfriend called our upstairs phone from the downstairs business line and said she went upstairs to get a drink of water and saw a mouse or a rat run across our kitchen into the living room and than diappeared!!!!! The next night we used our baby cam corder with the T.V. to watch to catch this thing and he or she never showed up. I stayed up all night watching this camera. We never caught this thing, BUT when we did the construction and dug a huge hole in our backyard for extending the basement thay found about 20 field mice half alive an half dead living aganist our basemnt wall. GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That little thing must of gotton in through a crack. I know it is all sealed up now with the basement extension but it freeked me out that whole summer. We had traps everywhere and we never got the thing!!!!! Whatever it was. Our friend swears it was a rat but we never saw one.

Loved the pictures from WDW of you all.

DH and I are going on vacation for a week to Bermuda this Saturday on a RCCL ship out of New Jersey. MIL,FIL and my parents will be taking care of the children. We are actually leaving Friday night and seeing MAMA MIA in NYC and staying over in the city before we cruise. DH has a break from work so we are off. The children don't even want to go with us. I was hoping DD did but they want to be with the grandparents. I have to go do last minute packing.

I will be back later or tomorrow. On my way to pick up DS from camp. Gail
