20040605 Let's Party! A NEW JERSEY DIS Meet!!--INDEXED

OK - here's another thought - It's going to be June and should be warm:sunny: What do you think about a park - Burkes Park in Sayreville? It has picnic tables, swings, slide and a ballfield which would give the kids something to do. Of course the only problem would be rain.

A park would be a good idea, does anyone know of one with a covered pavilion, in case of rain?
Elaine

Unfortunately, I don't know of any parks that have covered pavilions in the event of rain. Johnson Park (Piscataway / Highland Park) and Colonial Park (Somerset) are the parks with which I am most familiar, and I don't believe that either of them has a covered area. But I just wanted to check in and say that I think that a park would be a great alternative, too! Indoors or outdoors - anything is fine with us! Sorry that I couldn't be more helpful.

I know Johnson Park, and Colonial Park also.....Colonial is only about 15 min from me. I know they don't. Duke Island in Bridgewater doesn't either. THere used to be one in Bridgewater with a covered pavilion, but it now is where the Promenade is by the BAllpark. (thats going back a while, but not that long)
Anything is fine with me also, it was just a thought.
Elaine

----------Sorry, DD didn't sign off , and I am in under her name.

This park does actually have an area that is covered. It's just hard to explain the way it's set up, but would surfice(sp?) in a sudden rain. I also like the fact that this park is small and would be safe for the kids as there wouldn't be any other groups.

Hopefully something will work out.

I would prefer the Saturday also especially that we (JDubbs) and myself would have our kids.... Keep us posted!

The park is an idea that I do like but I am still pushing for an indoor event. The hall we are looking at tomorrow sounds good and is definately in our price range.

The benefit of a hall is we are all together. I am afraid that an outdoor thing would have too many people scattered with kids or whatever. It's tough though because we don't want our kids to get too bored right?

Maybe I will look into getting a clown or magician to come for an hour or so? What do you all think?

Most of all, thanks for the patience and ideas everyone. I am sure we will work something out and it will be one hell of a bash!

Fred

Just checking in and officially posting my count of 1! Just me :)

My DW and I have a meeting tonight with The Victorian Manor. Really nice place. I need to commit to at least 20 people for them. I don't think that will be a problem.

Sounds wonderful, Fred! Thanks so much again for arranging this! This is to confirm that DH and I will be there! (2 Adults) Just let us know where to send payment and - as they say - "the check will be in the mail"! :)

Lisa :)

Sounds great. I sent out a few more PMs. Now if more people would start reading their PMs.

Everyone, please review the list in the first post and let me know if you are:

A) Not on it.
B) Not confirmed on it but should be.

PM me for information about pre-payment. I must sign the contract by the 16th to confirm the date so we need 25 people by then. After I get at LEAST that, adding more is easy. ::yes::

Fred

Wow! Looks like it will be fun!

I most likely will be able to go, plus DH, probably. Right now I'm vacationing in the Florida Keys, but I will be flying home tonight. When I get home, I'll check my calendar and make sure that I can make it. I'll let you know on Sunday if I will be a definite, and take care of payment, etc! :)

Fred,

Just sent you my payment using PayPal, looking forward to meeting some fellow DIS'ers!!! Thanks for all your hard work putting this together!!!

No problem! I don't mind all of the hard work if we can get a confirmed head count by the 16th!!

Come on people! Give me confirmations. Review the list in the original post on page 1. If you don't have a (1 Adult) or whatever next to your name, I don't have you as confirmed!

I need to sign a contract for the hall by the 17th which is why I picked the 16th for pre-payments.

How about it folks??? :)

Fred, as much as I'd like to commit, the restaurant that I am assistant manager at opens for the season in May. So I don't think I can get off, because I am taking off the next weekend for my graduation party. I don't want to confirm anything yet, but I'll let you know.
