Well this was the day, my big 43rd BDay! We had celebrated my BDay down here in 2002 so I had picked up a BDay button the day we got to WDW. I had picked everyone up Ohio State shirts from Steve and Barry's and I had conned everyone into wearing them for my BDay. DH hates wearing matching shirts, even if they are a little different, so this was quite a coup on my part.
We went to MK for EMH and got there before open. MK is my favorite park so I threw my BDay foot down and said that was where we were going. It was kind of cool because Ohio people kept saying "Go Bucks!" and "O-H" (to which you respond "I-O"). For the record I did not go to OSU, I went to Bowling Green, but I've been a Buckeye fan forever and I have indoctrinated all the kids. DH knows to not even come home during the OSU-UM game because the rest of us can't be disturbed.
We did Fantasyland first because I wanted to do all the rides we didn't do on our first day. Dumbo first. I LOVE Dumbo. I love soaring over MK--but I won't wait 30 minutes to do so. This is always my first EMH destination. We also did Peter Pan, Philharmagic, Snow White, and Pooh. After that we went over to Tomorrowland. We got FPs for Space Mountain but also waited in a fairly short standby line. We did Buzz twice --those pictures are new for me--YUK, what a gross one. Not buying that! Then we went on to Stitch because we had never done it. I never even did AE. Our first trip DH wanted to go on it and I told him the kids wouldn't like it (they were 2,5,8) because of my research--he rode it alone and came out telling me about kids crying, etc. He did take DD#1 on it when she was 10 and she hated it. Now we all went on. It was OK, but not a big must-do. DH is still bummed about timekeeper being gone!
We decided to go eat early lunch at Cosmic Ray's. My original plan was to go to DD and eat, but here we were and it was 10:20--our Spoodles dinner was around 6:50 but we were still full from our last two dinners. We had never been to Cosmic Ray's and we had a lot of fun watching Sonny Eclipse perform. On the way there the talking garbage can stopped to talk to us and led people in a chorus of Happy Birthday to me after DS told it (her?) the news. So now I can say a garbage can sang to me.
We used our Space Mt. FP and headed down Main Street, checking out a few things along the way. We went back to the Poly for a while--DH took the kids swimming. DH and I ended up changing back out of our shirts since we were going to Spoodles and putting on more normal stuff. We watched the radar channel on the TV and decided it wasn't worth taking the ponchos to DD--famous last words! We got to the bus stop and to DD, but it rained on the way and as we came out of World of Disney it was pouring. My logic had been we wouldn't be out of cover much, but we still had to dash from store to store. After arranging for our big haul to go back to the Poly we went to Once UPon a Toy. DH found a deal on a little sign accessory set for our monorail, on sale for $12.99 from $25. We noticed the GF and Poly sets are no longer available. As he got that sent and let the kids roam around, I went and spent $50 of my BDay money on pins across the way. What I do is buy pins that mean something to me from this trip--i.e. Crush from Turtle Talk, or an EE pin, and mount them in a butterfly type thing (styrofoam in a frame) with felt over it--I have 4 up now. I got a couple of ornaments at the Christmas Store and we went out to the bus stop. Now I was glad I had budgeted transportation time. We had to wait a while for the bus to BW, then we had to stop at the West Side first. There was a woman in a scooter who got on with us and got off there and it was POURING by that time. Luckily it had really slowed down by the time we got to BW, which has a covered bus walkway anyhow. We stayed there in 01 and 02 so it was nice to be back. We got to Spoodles a little early. We had a wonderful meal there and were completely stuffed and I got sang to again!
The plan was EMH at Epcot. We walked over to Soarin' and I didn't have any hope since I had read things about the wait. Standby was only 45 minutes though, and it was EMH. I took DD#2 to the bathroom and when I got out standby was only 30 minutes! We hopped in line and probably only waited about 20. I really liked this ride! When we got back Illuminations was going on so we crossed over and got an EMH fastpass for TT and rode Mission Space. First I rode green alone (stomach doesn't like orange) and everyone else rode Orange. I waited for them, and as we left DH got a call that our baseball team had lost in the semis of the tournament. DH is asst. coach and the head coach called. DS was pretty bummed, so since it was not our FP time yet DH took him on orange again--the girls went on green with me, with a 10 minute shorter wait. So as we waited afterward, they played that teamwork game in the waiting area. Is it me or does that have the same result every time? DS came out and played in the play area until they finished, then we rode TT. We have never had a decent photo on this ride. DS is never visible--if he is in front he is behind the wheel or something, if he is in back he is behind someone else's head.
We took the monorail back to the Poly and watched our pictures and video so far on the TV. We decided that since we had knocked out the big 3 at Epcot, and our plan had been Epcot at open, we agreed that for the first time ever at WDW, we could SLEEP IN THE NEXT DAY!!!! Hurray!
