20 minutes to hem a pair of pants???? Oh no.

So DD told us tonight at 7pm - "oh, and I need white pants for the play that I'm in tomorrow". So we stop at Kohls and DW gets her a pair, and of course, they fit in the waist but are too long (as they always are with her).

We get home, I have her try them on, pin them.....and 20 minutes later I'm hanging them up, freshly hemmed and ironed.

I'm getting too good at this sewing business. and

Where were you this morning when I needed you???? I was putting on my sweatshirt to head out to the sweetpea's softball game and it was a little tight fitting over my head. So as I was slipping it on, I tried to stretch it out a bit, and instead of just getting a little bit of room, I ripped both sides of the hood off the front of the sweatshirt. UGH! But, we were running late and I knew I had no time to fix it, so I left the house with it on. Now, if you were here, there would have been time for you to fix it up and for me to get to the game on time. Geez, be more considerate next time and be here when I rip the hood of my sweatshirt.

That's impressive!
It took me 2 hours last night to sew 4 nameplates onto 4 hockey jerseys using a sewing machine. Two were for my son and two for a neighbor. Twice I sewed a shirt together and had to tear it apart!
I could have used your help last night.

My mom's a home ec teacher. Teaches sewing. Takes her months to get around to hemming my pants (I'm the only shortie in the house ) then it takes awhile longer to hem.

20 minutes is pretty good time. I know it takes me longer than that to hem dh's dress slacks.

I have a pair of karate pants I need to hem for my 11yo DD. Can I send them your way? I have an aunt that did alterations for years. When she worked for dry cleaners she'd always find one that paid by the piece because she could do them so quickly. I wish she lived closer.

On the plus side my 14yo DD is taking home ec this year and will be starting to sew soon. I need to buy a machine and let my DD's to the sewing at our house

I hemmed my daughter's spandex pants with clear packing tape.....

They will be using the outfit for a couple years (poms team) and she grows like a weed.

Thank the Lord my kids don't need hems. When they have dance outfits that are too long, I take them to a local alterations place--don't want to mess with spandex.
It takes me hours to sew on scout patches. I don't own a machine and don't want to get one. DD#1 is in "living skills" and I sure hope a machine isn't a requirement or that they do it all in school.

I'm really impressed, I don't even do hems!
I use duct tape that way I can have my pants different lengths for different heights of heels.

That is great, I could have never done it.

When I went to catholic school when the hem would come out of my skirt I would staple it. It worked great!
