So for 3 years now we have used a guy on eBay (he's a Canadian to boot) that works out the best car rental deal for you using all the current promos and he'll even book the reservation for you.

This year we're going for 2 weeks and scored a great deal on a mid-size (Sonata) for $342.71 (unlimited miles, all taxes in)

Plus we got their wild card deal, meaning we are guaranteed the Sonata, but if we get there and they have a premium car, luxury car etc. etc. on their lot we can ask for it and they will give it to us for the same price! :thumbsup2

What do you search under on e-bay. The only car rental guy I can find is located in Cincinnati. Is that the same guy?

I love the idea of getting a deal!

Can't find it when I search... what topic is it under?

Can you send me the ebay link? Need car rental for our Jan 2011 Cruise and Orlando trip. Thanks.

Thanks. That's the guy I found. I searched "car rentals" on ebay.ca.

I just emailed him and I am hoping he can find me a deal.

Sweet deal for me was snagging a convertible for two weeks over March break for only $203.86 all taxes inclusive. :cool1: and did it all on my own

Sure.... We are flying into the one airport in FLA where the car rental King can't get a deal!!!! :sad2: UGH!!!!!!!!!!

So I saved on airfare only to have to pay more for a rental (and drive more)...

No secret, just persistance, I don't rest until I can get the absolute best rate. Happened to luck out on a $99 week convertible rate, then using the Entertainment discount and $40 off coupon got the reservation down to absolute lowest. The great thing about reserving a car is you can do it over and over again and hold as many reservations as you want without any penalty.

That is a fair price but not a terrific price...We book midsize every year! Using Priceline.com, name your price thing or RentalcarMamma The least we have ever paid for a 2 week rental is $246..the most we ever paid was $302. Rentalcarmomma also has great deals...you can book 2 weeks with budget using their code for $308..
Check their site..they always have great pricing.
We just booked a car using the RCMamma discount and upgrade code for January for $313 inclusive for 2 weeks

rentalcarmamma is hard to navigate (IMHO) and like most people I don't have the time to search and look-up discount codes. I'm happy with the rate we got, and will check again with our "eBay guy" in a few weeks to see if he can get a better rate.

That's a shame, I assume you're going at Christmas? Tough time to get a deal.

I've been using Priceline's "name your own price" program and have gotten rentals in the $12-$15/day including taxes. It's usually a compact or Midsize for that price range but for just going to/from the airport and the parks with the occasional trip to the store/outlets it works for us for around $100/week.

We're going for 2 weeks in February 2011. In Halifax the kids get a 2 week break to coincide with the Canada games. We're a family of 5, and had booked a minivan for $750 last March, but Alamo wants $9.99/day to add a 2nd driver (extra $140). Now we're going to re-book for 2 compacts, one for each of us. Looks like 2 cars will come in around $600, so not only do we avoid the $140, we actually save another $150. Just to get to a park and back we can jam into a compact. Between the airport, we have 2 cars to handle us and our luggage. The only downside is, my wife and I have to plan ahead if either of us want alcohol to know which compact to take, which isn't much downside at all IMHO.

Yeah, our rate works out to $15 a day for the Sonata, but then again we do have the "wildcard" deal so may get something bigger as a bonus - we'll try anyways. ;)

Register for their *********** (huh, Board filters didn't like that??) How about Alamo's "frequent renter" program, or if you have a Costco card, add'l driver is free.

If you really want the minivan :)

But it sounds like you have a good plan worked out.

Now, you should think about renting your house in the Fax for the folks coming to the Games while you're away!! LOL!
