I have heard 2 way radios work , then others say there are too many and channels get "polluted" with others on the same channel. Anyone have experience with this?
it was a better solution when cell phones weren't as feasible. i'm not sure it's THAT big of an issue at DLR as it would be at WDW. but if anything, it's actually more tolerable because of the push towards cell phones.
They never really worked for us. Each time we would try to talk to each other, there would be other people breaking in. It might be better now that more families use cell phones instead of the 2 ways.
But then, FWIW, my phone never actually rings at DLR. I find later that I have a message, but I have never once had the phone actually ring. Very much a pain when DH and I have gone separate ways and are trying to find each other, or figure out what the other wants to eat, etc.
The best walkie talkies we had were the Disney Mickey Mouse ones, they had a feature that silenced everyone but your loved one on them. I think I got them at best buy. $49.00. There were only 2 of them. They had the best range too.
Like Bimbershoot, DH and I miss each other on cell phones. We have sprint and if we separated, we would miss each other's calls. It became frustrating. We also have 2-ways and they have worked well. Ours have 13 channels and we have had not problems with extra chatter
We always bring our cell phones. We put them on vibrate and stick them in our pockets and we never miss a call or a text message. Texting for us is a big thing because it costs less to text message then it would be to call as we have to travel long distance to go to Disneyland.
My phone wouldn't ring in the park either and sometimes it was sketchy about getting texts. But I got a new phone a couple months ago and haven't had a problem since. My battery drains super fast but I get my texts and calls.....unless my phone isn't in my pocket or on vibrate. The few times I've put it in a backpack I've always missed a call so I just carry it in my pocket now.
Our nextels worked way too well! tee hee hee I like to stop and look at things and take my time. But Dh would call me every two seconds and I no where good to put my phone that I could get to it before it went to voicemail, which I hate. Either call me or don't but I'm not using minutes to listen to voicemail!!
