Hi-
I am in the process of planning our first Disney Cruise (I've been waiting YEARS to do this!) and I have a few questions for y'all-
We are a family of 5- 2 adults, DS 15, DD 12 and DS 8- Should we get 2 staterooms- I must have a balcony- so a cat. 5 or 6 and a cat. 10 or 11 across the hall- the price is with $100 and the thought of having my "own" bathroom is enticing- Otherwise we will have a cat. 4 Family stateroom. What do you think?

Two rooms will definately give you much more space. And I think that the second bathroom would definitely come in handy with a family of 5.

Have a great cruise!

Hi
I am also planning our cruise for next year and also have a family of 5. Myself, DH and 3 DD ages 15, 8 and 5 at the time of travel. Like you, my DH needs to have a verandah. We have booked ourselves a cat 4 family stateroom. I looked into two connecting cat 6 rooms and the price was $825 more than the cat 4 room. I need to have the rooms connecting because I think the younger kids are too young to be across the hall. But since your kids are older, I would definately get two rooms, either connecting or across from each other. Just imagine all of you trying to get ready for dinner with only 1 shower! I am kind of bummed that we can't get two rooms for that reason, but I can't justify the extra $$ and DH won't budge on the verandah issue. I say go for 2 rooms!!

cepmom,

Your DH sounds like mine, he just had to have a verandah! So we got a cat 4 instead of 2 cat 10's which would of saved us $800. FYI read in my new Passporter that the showers in the Spa are great and you can use them for getting ready for dinner! Since you will be up on deck 8 send him up to the Spa for his shower.:wave2: That's what I'm going to do!

We are also a family of 5. On our 2002 Wonder cruise we had 1 Cat 4 stateroom and while it was nice to have us all together our kids were much younger than yours but if you have 5 in the room that means that one would sleep on the sofa as a bed, one on the pull down berth from the ceiling and one on the murphy bed. Once the murphy bed is down going outside onto the balcony would require that you were either one heck of a contortionist or that the person sleeping in the bed was either not there yet or dead out asleep. Also when the door opens we found the initial blast of air to be a big sleep waker. The steemer trunk is also right at the end of the murphy bed so if you needed to get say pajamas out of there at night it is a pain in the rump! We booked 2 Cat 8's with portholes just to get 2 rooms but then we were comp upgraded to 2 cat 4's with balconies. Since your kids are older I'd say get you and your spouse a balcony and get the kids a room across the hall. Our kids were smaller but trying to get us all ready to go somewhere was hard. It was ok for 4 days but I think 7 days would have drove us batty!!

We are also a family of five - DD16, DD13 and DS6. We wanted to get the cat. 4 but it was so expensive. We ended up getting a cat 6 w/Verhanda and cat 11 across the hall. Saved about $1200.
