2 staterooms - 2 logins required?

I used a TA to book two adjoining staterooms for an Alaska cruise next summer. My travel agent says I have to create a new Disney account in order to access the second stateroom.

How can that be correct? Is there really no way to book two staterooms under my existing Disney account or the same login?

Based on what the TA says, to book excursions, Palo, etc. I will have to log in to my account and book for those of us in stateroom one, then log out, log into the new account and try to book the same things at the same time for the people in stateroom 2. This sounds like a nightmare and a recipe for half of us not getting to go on the same excursions. Or sit separately at Palo.

Any suggestions? Is there really no way to have two staterooms on ONE reservation? (And yes, the TA is from DU.)

Not correct! I have the same set-up and the cruise agent added both under my 'My Disney' account. Either your TA needs to call, or you should.

So, I just went into my Disney account and even my own reservations are now MIA!! Even my paid in full NYE cruise. So I "added/linked" my original NYE reservations and the two Alaska staterooms.

This same agent also said in her email that because we booked specific staterooms there is no chance of DCL moving or upgrading one of the rooms (and my concern is that one might be upgraded because as of right now they are separate reservations - how would DCL know that Its ONE party spread between two staterooms?)

I booked 2 rooms on our last DCL cruise. It was two different booking numbers but we linked them on MDE.

After that, one account can do all the reservations for both account at the same time as long as they have the same advance check-in date. If they don't you will be able to do the reservations for one room, then the other a few days later. It might get a little bit complicated depending on the availability of what you are trying to book. Ex: I booked Palo for 2 (but we were going to be 4). When my FIL and MIL check-in date finally arrived, we had to move the reservation time because at the time we had originally booked there was no table for 4 available.

So if I am gold but my parents are not - because this was booked incorrectly I can't book an excursion for the five of us until their booking window opens?

UGH!!

Are your parents new cruisers to DCL? If so, you wouldn't be able to book at the Gold window for them anyhow. If you have found your own resi, there's a button to click on to link their resi with yours. I hope it's worked out!

She could have if she divided parties so that a gold member was in each cabin. The sleeping arrangements could supposedly be fixed on board.

Each stateroom always has it's own reservation number - your TA is correct on that. However, she should have linked them so you could manage both together. I believe you can still do that yourself, but the TA may need to request it.

Each cabin holds the CC highest designation of the occupants. If both passengers in your stateroom are Gold and your parents are Silver or newbies, you could have split to have 1 Gold member in each. If you are the only Gold CC member, it wouldn't have worked. You can try to have the TA switch passengers around if that will help. Otherwise you can book at the Gold checkin date, then try to add your parents on their checkin date. Or you can wait to do all together at the later online check-in date.

Enjoy your cruise!

I was going to say that but I wasn't sure. Then I thought if the TA couldn't link the rooms, she'd never figure out how to re-assign pax!! :rotfl:

I think the reassignment would have to take place once on board, thus not involving the TA who seems clueless and like she needs serious retraining since she works for a Disney specialist agency).

Thanks this was helpful. I have everything linked to my Disney account now. I am the only gold cruiser so I will likely book three of us at the gold date and then try to add my parents on their date (or sub in grandpa/nana for me or DH an excursion if necessary).

My big concern is the potential upgrading, as more than two/three people fit in these rooms, and Disney may want to resell them to a bigger group. Despite the TAs confidence that Disney never upgrades assigned rooms, I did ask her to add that note to the reservation. Fingers crossed. Because if they move my parents, whoever takes their room is going to be very surprised when DS shows up to spend the night. ;)

Unless I am misunderstanding a situation, your stateroom will not change (only changes if you are doing a GTY or *GT but you wouldn't know the room at this point anyhow). No one is going to upgrade you without you requesting to do so, is that the situation?

Stateroom re-assignment or upgrades really are very rare. It can happen; though not usually to fit a larger party as DCL has more "beds" available than they can fill to allow for flexibility of various family groupings. Usually stateroom re-assignment/upgrade occurs due to a maintenance issue - in which case DCL is unlikely to put someone else in that room.

Since you are the only Gold CC member among the 5 of you, there is nothing the TA could do to get both staterooms with the same online check-in date. Palo and Remy can usually be adjusted onboard, just book times that are close to each other. Very popular port excursions do fill, but if that happens just keep checking as sometimes people change plans and cancel resulting in an opening.

Enjoy your cruise!

I think your TA is right though. DCL generally doesn't "upgrade" unless you have a non-assigned GTY cabin... Even then, an upgrade is never guaranteed.

DCL can, and does, upgrade rooms, regardless if you've got a room already assigned or not. Depends on why they need your room. If reservations are linked, they won't upgrade one room and not the other.

But, as noted, upgrades are a lot more rare than seems like here on the boards.

Thanks. My issue was more that the TA gave zero information about linking and said I would have to go through the shuffle of logging in and out between the reservations etc. that simply wasn't true as I learned from this board.

Apparently she also did not add my email address for my parents reservation (or any email address) so no one is getting email confirmations or updates for that stateroom/reservation. Really just poor service IMO.
