2 Silly Questions

Okay, two rather silly questions about "trash & towel service"... We're in a 1 bdrm villa at BWV in Feb. It's the first time we're doing a whole vacation at WDW with our points (used first two years' allotment on a cruise w/o kids for our anniversary in June with a night at SSR before we left).

1. How much coffee do they leave you in a 1 bdrm villa (and creamer, etc.)? Is it adequate for a caffiene addict? :coffee: (Not me this trip...I'm preggers and can only justify a sip or two).

2. What brand of laundry detergent, etc. do they provide, and how many loads can you do with it? :laundy: I'm not wanting to buy it from the grocery store, but want to make sure we're not allergic and itchy our whole vacation!

I figure these aren't too crazy of questions...I did see that whole thread about the new bath products (woohoo....love H2O, hated Disney's other stuff!!):). However, my DH thinks I'm too concerned about this stuff. He'll be appreciative tho, if we don't run out of java and no one's itchy!

One coffee packet (enough for one pot) will be in your room when you arrive, you will get another on trash and towel and full housekeeping days.

There is generally enough creamer and sugars for most folks. It is usually "coffeemate" brand. If you like a LOT of creamer, you may run short.

There is a single load box of Tide powder when you check-in, as well as one on trash & towell and full housekeeping days. Extra supplies are available in the resort store.

I plan on bringing my own coffee(starbucks), I have to be able to get at least one decent cup of coffee a day(can't stand that nescafe swill).

we own at BWV and have always got 2 packets of coffee at check-in:goodvibes

Do you get some bottled water in too? I swear it's as much the water as it is the swill, I mean the coffee.

I think it's just I have gotten so used to Starbucks/Seattle's Best type of coffee over the years that everything else tastes like brown water. I'll try some bottled water in May when we go, but I'm still bringing the "good stuff".

I agree with you on the Starbucks. I bring it myself but also purchase the bottled water and fresh half and half. It's like heaven. You will love it with really good water!!!!! I'm amazed that Disney is so behind the times when it comes to coffee. Seems like a huge source of untapped revenue.

You would think that either at DVC/hotels or somewhere in the parks you could get a premium cup of coffee. I don't need any lattes or anything just a decent cup.

The Kona cafe' at the Poly and Boma are the only places I can think of where you can get something decent (may be others I'm not aware of too). We just had breakfast at the Kona Cafe' last Tuesday and the Kona Coffee is excellent. It's just a long way to go from the BWV for a cup of coffee. Thankfully they have Tonga Toast too.

I just stayed at OKW and the packet of coffee they left was more like a 4 cup pack. The package didn't say how many cups it would make and I assumed a full pot...but no, it was way watered down...bring your own...

Yes, they supply a box of Tide that is enough for 1 load.

HTH!

Does anyone know if you can buy flavored coffee creamer at the Hess stations? I usually bring my French Vanilla creamer on the plane with me, but with new regulations it would have to go in my checked luggage, and I am not a fan of French Vanilla scented or flavored clothing. Also, can you buy Kona coffee grounds at the poly stores to take back to your room?

For the creamer, if you use International Delight, check at your grocery store for the boxes of small single cups. They come in boxes of 24 of the ones like you get at gas stations with a cup of coffee, KWIM? They do not need refridgeration and travel well! We get ours at Wegman's, which I know tends to be regional to this area, but they should be available elsewhere.

We bring our own coffee beans/grinder/water filter (cannot wait til TSA sees those going through the luggage x-ray in our checked bags). This year, we are there for 11 days, so we are ordering detergent, softener, creamer, etc from Garden Grocer. :)

December '06 2BR VWL stay:

In the 1BR kitchen, there were 2 coffee packets at check-in, 2 more were left during towel and trash. DB and DSIL were in the studio portion - not sure what coffee was left there.

There was one Tide at check-in, we didn't get a second during T&T. (We didn't use either the coffee or the tide - just brought our own).

There was a big stack of dishwasher detergent packets. We used a bunch, and more were left at T&T.

I agree with packing your own coffee. I also agree that WDW needs to get on board and have a decent coffee place on site. Marriott Timeshares have Starbucks!!!!! How nice would that be at WDW???? I'd even settle for Dunkin Doughnuts, better than the "swill" serve now.

Laundry we bring little travel bottles filled with liquid detergent and then selaed in plastic bags. If you have the correct bottles they won't leak but just in case pack them in the sealed bags.

Have a great trip.

I bring powdered detergent from home. I put 1 scoop (enough for 1 load) in an individual ziplock baggie. Then I put several of these and a stack of fabric softener sheets in a larger baggie. Makes your suit case smell good too!! As far as coffee, I agree with you. I pack my own can of coffee and bring a jar of powdered flavored creamer. Not as good as liquid flavored creamer, but better than plain "coffee mate". I agree that it is really hard to find a decent cup of coffee at WDW. Have a great trip!!!
