I am looking for a budget or moderately priced hotel suite close to WDW for our trip in October. Specifically I would like a clean, quiet room with a living area and a bedroom separated by a door so that we can stay up later than the kids. A refrigerator and free breakfast would be a plus.

This is going to be our first trip staying offsite. Any recommendations?

We just got back last week from staying at the Caribe Royale. It's about 10 minutes from the parks and Sea World. We really thought it was a good value. We had a $40 a day food/bev credit that we used for breakfast a few days. Our villa had a full kitchen, so we had basic breakfast in our villa the other days. Great customer service and a HUGE set-up for our family of five. Watch their website and friend them on Facebook. They have specials ALL the time.

Thanks for the suggestions. We are going to go with the $88 rate at the Buena Vista Suites. It has gotten pretty good reviews on trip advisor recently. DH is picky about hotel rooms and I hate to spend a bundle on a place we only sleep in, so hopefully this will make both of us happy!

Something else to consider, which I personally feel is a lot better, is renting a condo. We are going in August and renting a 3-bedroom, 2-bath condo at Windsor Palms for $79/night (including tax). It doesn't include a "free" breakfast but it is also quite a bit cheaper as that $88 rate does not include tax. With the condo, you get two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living/dining room and a full kitchen. A lot more space and more privacy for everyone. And with the money you save, you can stop at the store and buy stuff for breakfast.

We looked and looked for a suite but found it was cheaper to stay in a condo and it had more room!

What company did you rent your condos through?

I researched condos but I couldn't find one below the $594 6 night total for Buena Vista Suites after adding in the departure cleaning fees and damage waivers, etc. We would prefer the condo option if could get the price lower.

Another concern is that the cancellation policies are not as flexible as the hotel's policy.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions!

Tink - I e-mailed you. You should definitely be able to find a 2-bedroom or 3-bedroom condo for less than $99/night. Last summer, we rented a 3-bedroom pool home for $100/night. $99 for a hotel room is a rip-off IMO.

Check here for Windsor Palms specifically.

Check here for all developments in the area.

As I said in my e-mail, we are actually renting a 3-bedroom condo for $79/night (not a 2-bedroom).

One more thing that is very important. Don't base your decision on the rental prices listed on the websites. Contact the owners and ask for their best price. We rent a place every year and we have always paid less than what was listed on the websites. Especially in the current economy, owners are happy to negotiate.

I always do a search at :goodvibes

We did a Windsor condo 2 years ago and didn't really like it. Our condo had buckled flooring and nothing to use in the kitchen (i know that's not uncommon, but our kitchen at Caribe was well stocked). It was also further to the parks and SeaWorld than Buena Vista Suites (sister property of Caribe Royale) and I really like having maid service every day! And you can't beat free breakfast. Just another line of thought....

Different strokes...

We are not big breakfast eaters and we don't like to waste time in the morning. We like to get up and go. A glass of juice and a bowl of cereal and we're on our way. Much easier to do that in the condo and we aren't paying extra for that "free" breakfast. If you prefer a more complete meal in the morning, the hotel spreads are very nice.

We hate maid service. I don't want someone coming into my room at any time and messing with my stuff. No thanks. We aren't slobs. The place doesn't need to be vacuumed and dusted daily and we can make our own beds.

As for distance, Windsor Palms is definitely farther from SeaWorld and Universal. However, it is closer to DHS and AK. Buena Vista Suites is probably closer to MK and EC, so that's kind of a wash.

Buena Vista suites would be perfect!!!! Most days in October are still 88.00. And It comes with a full buffet breakfast. Here is a link to give you the details. If you have any questions, please let me know.

I have to agree! We have stayed here a couple of times and absolutely love it! The hotel is very clean, staff is friendly and helpful and the hot breakfast buffet (which is included) is great. The food choices at the breakfast buffet include: eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, pancakes, waffles, hot cereal, cold cereal (3 kinds), made to order omletes, fresh fruit, bagels, coffee, tea, juice, chocolate milk and white milk.

The beds were super comfy and the room included a flat screen tv in the livingroom and 1 in the bedroom. Also a mini fridge and microwave, there is also a sofa sleeper in the livingroom. I would definately recommend Buena Vista Suites.
