We are coming in late on our first night, 9:40 PM, and staying at Pop before moving to the Poly the next day. We are not taking ME back to the airport from the Poly. Can I sign up for ME for our arrival only at both resorts and put the luggage tags on for the Poly so they will be delivered there for us to retrieve the next day?

You can do a one way DME reservation,,,, but the Poly tags are going to be dated for the day after they arrive and I don't know if the handlers will know what to do with them. Chances are the bar code won't read properly and they will have to read the tags and decide what to do, they may send it along to the Poly but then where would they go until you arrive the next day?

The other issue I see is that if your flight is late or the luggage is delayed they will be sent to the carousel if it is after 10. They will sit there for a while until the airline baggage handlers pull it aside. Now its in the luggage office and again who knows if/when the DME luggage handlers, who are behind the scenes and pull tagged bags prior to the carousel will check the baggage offices.

Neither is something i personally would try with our checked bags (and I do use the DME delivery often)! Honestly if my flight is scheduled to land after 9 I won't take the chance on bag delivery and pick my bags up myself.

FWIW bell services will move your bags from Pop to Poly for you while you head to the parks, this is what I would do!

I would spend the extra 20 minutes and retrieve your own bags. That late at night, it's not like you're going to be rushing off to a park.

if you try be prepared to have to have bell services hunt you missing cases after you get back from park and hopefully find them by next morning. as they most likely will be sitting in unclaimed area not on a Disney truck. do not think you will be able to list both check ins as you want and have it work as your Poly tags would not be picked up the night you arrive as it could be after last pick up so they would head to lost and found at airport not headed to Disney in the morning as you hoped

This is very risky and not a good idea. Don't put the yellow DME tags on your bags. Pick them up yourself and bring them to the bus. Pop Century will transfer them to the Poly. You will have to be in your room to get the bags delivered. Just call bell services. Usually the bags won't be available until about 4pm.

Thanks everyone. I am trying to convince DH to pack with just carry ons! Wish me luck, he's such a diva :)

Good decision. Here's the issue. If you are going to Pop, but move to the Polynesian the next day, and want to tag your bags with Polynesian tags.....your tags have the date of your resort reservation. Your bags are supposed to go to the resort with an active reservation...that would be Pop in your case. If you tagged your bags with the Polynesian tags, your bags would probably be put aside since there wasn't an active reservation. Then, when they reopened in the morning, there could be a good chance that your bags may not be easily located.

Eh, grabbing a bag and having it sent to poly on day 2 isn’t that big a deal. If he wants to have a checked bag, he wants to have a checked bag.

About half our flights have gotten in too late for the bag delivery, and it’s just not that big a deal.

We do this a lot. Arrive late, stay Value for the night, move the next morning to another resort. Disney makes it super easy to move your bags. I hate trying to cram everything in a carry on, tried that, it sucks. I get free bags, I like to use them.
I always tag our bags with the resort for our first night, even though we never actually get our bags in our room that night. I ask Bell Services to hold the bags and have them move the bags the next day.
I would never use tags for our 2nd stay because I don't feel comfortable using tags that aren't for an active stay. I don't have any problems using tags and arriving late.
If our flight is late I know I need to go to baggage claim and get the bags myself (this has happened to me) and I know if I don't, the airline will pull the bags and sit them aside to wait for the Bags Inc employees to return the next morning (which I learned when my flight was late and I went to get my bags).
