2 question - Dec. Free Dining? / Free Dining credit?

Anyone have any idea if and when free dining might be available for Dec. 2011
And what week or weeks it might be based on previous years.

I have a co-worker that just got free dining for an coming up trip with DDXDP. She said that they gave her a credit to the room. She asked if it could be credited to her CC and they said no - something about losing the rack rate and would have to make other reservation. She is not the most reliable source of information.

Has anyone ever done this and how did it work out? and how much hassle is it? We have paid our trip off and we have DDXDP - I would be totally fine with a credit. I'm just curious if its worth it.

I don't think I've ever heard of free dining during December since it is a peak season. If it is offered at some point, my family will be there!

Your friend is correct that free dining means you're paying the full rack rate for the room so you can't have the best of both worlds.

Have fun with the deluxe dining--it was way too much for us last year but it was still enjoyable.

Last year (2010) free dining was offered for those that checked in by Dec. 22nd. It was not announced until late fall if I recall. We took advantage of it - YUMMY!

I have not heard about free D-DDP for years. Currently they only offer QSDP for cheaper rooms and the regular DDP for the higher level rooms.

Also I am not sure what your friend is talking about. Free dining in any form has to be rebooked if you already have a ressie as free dining rooms are "assigned" and limited. Traditionally they just credit the original payments all back to the credit card that was used to book.

No such thing as free deluxe dining. I don't believe the deluxe plan has ever been offered free at all, even on the British offers. You can get it...but you would have to upgrade from a free QS or regular plan and pay the difference. If you already have a room discount you would lose it to apply a free dining discount - free dining is available only if you pay rack rate for the room.

I think the OP is saying her friend had a reservation with DxDP, then was able to switch to free dining, kept the DxDP upgrade and since the package was already paid in full Disney credited the reimbursement (for the free part of the dining) to the room.
