2 people on room reservation, how can we be sure to get 2 beds?

I just booked a standard room at the Beach Club Resort for my mom and aunt. The description of the room says 2 queens or 1 king and day bed or just 1 king bed. My mom and aunt would before NOT to get a room that is just one bed and a day bed. They want 2 queen beds. My concern is that who ever assigns the room will see it's just two guests on the reservation and put them in a "king bed" room. What can I do to assure a 2 queen bed room for them?

You can call and have the request added, I don't know if that's an option under online check-in or not. But unfortunately since 2 queen beds is not a bookable category, it will only be a request.

As Dug720 said, call and make the request. Though it's only a request, the chances of getting 2 queen beds is good (as long as they aren't making a ton of other requests). There aren't a lot of standard king rooms at the resort. If they aren't assigned a 2 queen, they can always ask to switch rooms if there is availability.

As pp's have said you can call and make the request. And king beds are not very common. I always do request a king bed for just me and DH and have never gotten my request in over 20 stays at the deluxe resorts.

As long as you booked a standard room from Disney, and not a standard DVC villa, you will have an excellent chance at getting two queen beds.

If you booked a DVC villa, you WILL get one queen bed and a pullout sofa.

I go solo a lot and king bed is actually something you have to ask for since there just aren't that many rooms with that. I think I've only actually gotten a king bed once, except as PP mentioned, in a DVC studio.

Which DVC studio was that?
As a long time DVC owner it is my understanding is that all DVC studios (except OKW with 2 Queens) are 1 Queen and 1 Double sleeper sofa.

Sorry, it was a queen bed and sleeper sofa, not a king. I was just going off the question about 2 beds being in the room as opposed to one.

We've only got a King bed twice in 8 or so trips. There aren't many King beds. We asked for one on our last stay at AKL but we also wanted a room on a higher floor and there just wasn't anything available. I think they tend to keep King beds for either requests or obvious couples (without children) or singles. Your highest probability is for two queen beds if it's not DVC.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, we've had a king bed three times, not twice, but only once when we've requested it. None were HA rooms (at least not judging by the bathrooms). Twice when we've asked no king rooms were available.

We stayed at POP last year(just DS and I)and I assumed we would get two doubles as kings are for handicapped and by request as they are in short supply. Guess what kind of room we got- a handicapped accessible king room! Luckily, we had an aero bed with us as DH and my other DS were joining us in a few days when we were moving to CSR. We just kept the room because we had another bed with us.

I called Disney and added a request of two queen beds to my reservation for Poly last May for 3 adults. The CM from the reservation center did not feel the request was necessary since we were 3 adults and there are less king beds. I still wanted it there to ease my mind.

Upon checking-in, I was offered Samoa 3rd floor with 1 King bed. I politely declined and asked for a double queen room. We were there very early and were accommodated no problem! I guess I do not know whether or not the request was actually added, or if we were offered the Samoa King 3rd floor because it is the most requested building (I actually requested Rarotonga), but it worked out.

What time are you arriving at the Beach Club? I have read, and experienced, that you have a better chance of being accommodated the earlier you check-in. Once people check-out and rooms are prepped, online check-in guests will start receiving room ready texts and those rooms can no longer be reassigned. If you are there early before this happens, a CM may be able to work some magic to ensure the room being prepped for you has the 2 queen beds before it is assigned.

If you don't have a package with the dining plan, you could add a couple of (fake) kids to your reservation, which would guarantee that you would get two beds. People add phantom children to their reservations to get extra same day FP's, so I don't see why you couldn't to make sure you don't get a king room. There wouldn't be an extra cost. It might be more complicated than you would want, but it's the only way I can think of to guarantee two beds.

I've never gotten a king bed except when we booked one at GF. Our honeymoon we didn't even get a king bed, lol, which was actually fine by me. I like my space.

Can't have a package, period...dining plan is only one component that matters. If you have a room/tickets package, you'd also have to buy the same tickets for your "fake" kids as you buy for yourself.

Y'all are trying to make this crap a whole lot more complicated than it really is.

Two queen beds are the most likely room configuration, by far. If they make a request for two queens then it is close to a certainty. If, by any chance they do end up in a room with a King bed, they shouldn't have trouble getting it changed. It is a small possibility. In over 45 visits, I have only had a King bed once that wasn't booked as a King and on that visit I was travelling solo.

We often need two queens as well and have never worried about getting them.
