2 Officers shot in Dallas tonight during police protest rally

Holy crap! 10 officers shot, 3 dead, no one in custody! 2 snipers shooting at police officers! On CNN right now!

I feel sad for all the gunshot victims
What I heard in a news conference today seemed to encourage those "protests, vigils, expressions of outrage". SMH.

"...And I would just ask those who question the sincerity or legitimacy of protests and vigils and expressions of outrage who somehow label those expressions of outrage as quote unquote political correctness, I just ask folks to step back and think: what if this happened to someone in your family? How would you feel?..."

I would feel so sad if my family member was shot by the police or if my family member was a police officer killed in the line of duty. I think I would have a right to grieve however I needed to.

My brother was shot in a drive by and lived...but I still hate guns and wish they didn't exist.

I don't at all think it is wrong for people to hold vigils or express their feelings in groups. That is not what killed these officers.

We're you quoting someone? You had italics and quotes.

I wonder if these protesters wanted the police to stop and ask for the gun permits first and then waited for the shooters to decide if they wanted to surrender their guns. I have heard way too much inflamed garbage today.

If this had anything to do with the protests beyond opportunity, then it is beyond senseless and counter-productive.

Thoughts and prayers to the slain and wounded officers and their loved ones.

Every bit as horrible as the deaths the past couple days.

Don't people have a right to protest or hold a vigil or be outraged? There are plenty of people outraged right now about what's going on in Dallas with these snipers attacking the police. We have the right to feel that way. We have a right to hold a vigil for these ambushed police, just like the protesters out today had a right to hold vigils and protests over deaths in their communities. Our First Amendment guarantees our right to protest and hold vigils. Plenty of vigils and rallies are held all the time without violence.

The track record for these protests STAYING peaceful over the past year or so has not been very good.

That's nothing new. Protests erupting in violence go back to the founding of this country and earlier. The Boston Massacre. The Whiskey Rebellion. Heck, these incidents even helped lead to the Bill of Rights to begin with!
