Hi everyone

I notice that a few people on here stay at 2 hotels when at WDW.

i.e. All Star hotels for 7 nights then Grand Floridian for 7 nights

Do you find the change stessful? does it take much time to change over? Whats the advantages and disadvantages of doing this?

I dont really think there are any disadvantages. Disney will take your luggage from one hotel to another for you. if you leave a CC inprint at checkin, you get express checkout, so you dont even have to go to reception on checkout day, just hop in your car and youre off.

its fairly simple and doesnt take up much time, My advise would be to request an earlier checkin so you arent hanging around once you get to your second hotel.

Think that if you are staying on-site for several weeks, sounds like a nice idea... depends what you want to do and how much you want to spend

Allstars and Grand Floridian are quite an unusual combination (budget then the deluxe flagship resort). If you did an "unusual" combination like that, make sure that you do the more budget resort first (think it would be a lot easy to "go up" than to "go down" the luxury ladder...).

A week at an Epcot resort (Beach/Yacht Club, Boardwalk or Swan & Dolphin) followed by a quieter resort (GF, WIlderness Lodge, maybe AKL) could be fun. Epcot is an AMAZING area and somewhere more restful afterwards could be great.

If budget is an issue, keep an eye on the Swan & Dolphin (if booking independently) - Expedia and some other sites can have some very good offers at those resorts (price wise, they can be more comparable to a moderate - since they are not owned by Disney). Although that might make the transfers bwteeen hotels more difficult...

If you fancy two resorts then go for it. The only real downside is packing and unpacking again (but that can be done quickly :) ).

Moving resort is so easy in WDW. As Signtalker says, bell services will transfer you bags to your new hotel while you spend the day in the parks. You then just need to turn up at your new hotel, check in and arrange for your bags to be brought to your room :)

We have done POR and AKL in the same trip with no problems. You may need to check on the level of Bell Services at a value resort just to double check if you get the same service as a moderate resort.

We recently stayed at the Boardwalk and Beach Club resorts. The luggage was moved for us. It was worth it to us.

Another vote for staying at two (or more) WDW resorts during your trip. We did this last year, staying at Yacht Club (4 nights), AKL (2 nights), 4 night Disney Cruise then back to AKL (5 nights). As previously posted, your luggage is moved for you and you can take advantage of express checkout. Once we had checked out of one resort, we would head over to a park for the day then return to our new resort at check in time. This year we are staying at Saratoga Springs for two weeks (first visit since becoming DVC members last year!! :cool1:

We always split a stay, it makes is different andthe moves are very easy. This time we are at RPR, POP and WL.

We changed resorts 4 times on our trip last year, this was too much. The time before we stayed at two resorts (BWV and OKW) that was better.

It is lovely to say in a different area like at one of the Epcot resorts or the MK resorts. Moving between Disney resorts is very easy they do it all for you :)

We also changed 4 times last trip and we love every minute of it - but to be fair we were in WDW for 3 weeks, and I'm not sure I would have wanted to do it for any less than that!

We love to experience the different resorts and to pack is no hassle really, well not not the way I pack, anyway ;) (throw things in cases and jam the lids shut :teeth: )

Hey, we are doing 3 this time (NY, I.Drive then AKL) and have done 2 before in one stay (I.drive and ASMo) and it;s the best! Like having two holidays in one! And I can only imagine that moving between disney hotels is a breeze!

we have just booked Pop century for 14 nights next september with dining plan, but if money is okay then i might book 3 nights at one of the magic kingdom deluxes for a treat as a room only. We will still use the dining plan attached to our pop century booking but will be staying elsewhere. When we booked i looked at booking a moderate but they wanted an extra £550 so i decided i would rather spend that money for 3 nights at a deluxe or if we don't do that we will just have extra spending money

Well you lot are an expensive bunch of friends, I got persuaded and just booked a change of hotel for us in september - first 7 nights pop century and second seven nights POFQ!!!!!!!!   Yay banana boogie for me (I can whilst Johnnys away!) :teeth:

We've done POR for 2 weeks and AKL conceirge for 5 days at the end and this was nice. It was kind of a pain packing but having the upgrade at the end and doing the parks the first few weeks was fab. I would do it again but I think as people have said do the lower resort first as going to a 5* then a 4* you notice the difference as we did this one year too and it was a real let down.

we stayed at por and then hard rock hotel, for a week each. it was definatley nice to have a change , and like most disers have said its kind of like to holidays rolled into one.

We'll be doing this next year, partly for transportation reasons and also I like the idea of a change of scenery =]

Another vote for splitting the resorts. :thumbsup2

We stayed at the Buena Vista Palace for 2 weeks cos we love to be able to walk into DTD, then we had 10 nights at the Poly which was amazing. Being on the monorail is fantastic! If your heart isn't set on the GF, have you thought about splitting between 2 more resonably priced resorts, say AKL for 1 week, then the Contemporary.

I'm definately going to stay in AKL for 3 nights on my next stay and rest of time elsewhere.I can't afford my whole stay there, but sounds a great place to experience,

Lynn
