2 families on one dining reservation, different check in days

For a multi-family trip, where one family is checking in a day earlier than the other families, can that first family make a dining reservation for everyone when their dining window opens? I'm talking one big reservation (table for 16). Even if the group has to be split into say two tables, is it still considered one reservation? And the lead guest checking in a day earlier can do it for everyone? Thanks!

It doesn't matter who is coming with you, the reservation would be under the main person's name. If you need to split it into two, make sure the other person on the other reservation is checking in with you and has access to those dates.
