2 extra day deal

Hi all,

I wasn't sure which board to post this on but I figured this is budget related so it would be OK here. Also I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question but I see that Disney's new "special" that will be coming out 1/5 says you will get 2 extra days added to your ticket. Is this it...meaning they aren't adding 2 extra days to your room package? I can't find much info on this but it seems like adding 2 days to your tickets only saves about $200. I am planning on going this summer if it is safe to do so so at this point this is the only deal out there. Am I reading this correctly? It seems like if they add 2 days to your ticket they should add 2 days to your room but I feel like that is not the case. Thoughts?? Again sorry if this is dumb it just seems like a really poor deal...although I guess they are a business and so not required to offer me any deal at all. Thanks!

We are planning our first ever trip with the grandbabies!! I am also interested in any inside scoop on this special. I have been toying with a DVC rental of points to find a cheap option to take 6 people.

It is just tickets added. Not extra nights at resort. Also can’t be combined with any other discount or promo.

yep the extra free two days the way I get it is a joke. You don’t save that much

Promotions aren't really intended for the consumer to save money, they are designed to make you spend more by thinking that you "saved" on something else. This promotion is designed to encourage people to visit on their arrival/departure days - thus spending more money in the parks. When adding those days to a 3-day ticket it can save $100+ per ticket though I agree the savings is less on longer ticket lengths; even small savings can add up for larger families.

It’s not actually a cheap option, we rented for our family of 7 and it was still a bit pricier than 2 moderate rooms, but it was nice having the room, kitchen, and washer/dryer. We rented privately to save money instead of using a 3rd party vendor.

Totally agree. Usually 2 rooms at a value or even a moderate at times is cheaper than going the DVC route...but you do have to weigh that with what your preferences are etc....but money-wise; it's almost always cheaper to do 2 rooms at a value than a room big enough for 6 ppl.

This time they say the decades old sad truth up front. Many guests arrive too late and depart too early to make use of the arrival day and the departure day.

I thought I got a good deal. Looked at booking last Fall. It was going to cost $532.93 per ticket for a 5 day park hopper for my family of 4. The cost for just park tickets was $2,266.04. With this 2 day free special we booked a value resort plus tickets for appox. $2500.00. Looks like we got lodging for about $250 to me! Winner!

It's just two extra days to your tickets. It's a brilliant marketing tool, if you use fuzzy Disney math:

- Two extra days in the parks is a big pull -- might be what it takes to get you to choose Disney, or it might make you choose a longer trip.
- It might allow you to say, "We were already planning on 4 days in the parks, so these two extras can be half-days to go back and do what we couldn't fit in."
- If they can get you into the parks those extra days, you're going to buy more meals, more tee shirts, etc. That's where they're really winning.
- If you have two more days, you're going to have to have additional hotel room nights, which is more money for them.
