I hope this is the right place to post this....
On our trip to WDW last Sept DH and I actually bought into the AK DVC, but got cold feet about financing vacations after we got home and ended up canceling. We are now looking at 2 extended family trips in the next year -- one with his family in March (3 families, 10 people total) and another with my family in June (3 or 4 families, 12-17 people total). I'm trying to decide if we should change our minds again and go ahead and do DVC. I know that the family trip in March will be at one of the deluxe resorts whether we're in DVC or not. And the only way we'll get to do a deluxe resort vacation with my family is if we can use DVC. My thought is that if we were able to get enough DVC points to book all these rooms, and the groups chipped in what they would have spent on the vacation (or basically "rented" points from us), it could actually end up paying for a chunk of our DVC costs. Then, everybody gets a great vacation and we are that much ahead on owning DVC out-right. Can some of you shed some light on why this would or wouldn't be a good idea? TIA!
BTW -- we leave for Orlando TOMORROW, so DH and I could meet with the DVC folks and buy-in this week if it works out.
