There is a new Holiday Inn Express (301 Tucker Lane) about 10 miles from the beach - it looks good as it's brand new and caters to business executives. Has anyone stayed there yet? As well, any information you can provide about the other Holiday Inn Express (5745 N. Atlantic Ave.) would be appreciated as well. This hotel offers free breakfast, but only offers free parking during cruise if you book a suite - but it is very close to the beach. Pros and cons of each would be appreciated.

Looking forward to opinions on these 2 hotels. Thanks, Tiger

Next month we'll be staying at the HIE on N. Atlantic Ave. I'm told it's nice, clean, and serves a continental breakfast. Also, it not too far from Avis.

Thanks - I actually discovered upon more checking last night that this new one is located in Cocoa, which according to Mapquest is 19 minutes from Port Canaveral. It looks like a wonderful hotel, but my DH says it's too far because you have to take the expressway (toll road) to get to the Port. I emailed the hotel, so if I found out more info I'll post it here.

plutospup - I'm assuming since you mention Avis that you're renting a car and won't be needing parking at the hotel - just to let you know that when I called this hotel they said that they only offer parking and shuttle to people who book suites.

We have stayed at the one on N. Atlantic Ave. twice and will again in April. It's nice, clean, quiet, close, ... They do have a continental breakfast, which makes things easy on "cruise morning". We like it very much.

Do you normally stay in a suite or a regular room? The man who I spoke with on the phone said that they only offer parking to people who book suites, and I'm still trying to find out if this is true or not. I'm discovering that some of the hotels in the area have Park and Cruise packages to charge guests more money, when in fact they offer free parking and shuttle services anyway!

Looking forward to more info. Thanks, Tiger

We have always stayed in a regular room. Parking was never an issue (rental car). This year we will have our own car so I might have to look into that. Otherwise, $70 to park at the port. Thanks for that heads-up!

The new one you are talking about is on the SR520 exit of I-95. Haven't stayed there (we live in the area) but it sure looks very nice and brand new from I-95. Beautiful pool area. The distance to the port in time is about a 15 minute drive at tops. SR520 is two short exits south of SR528, which goes to the port. While 528 is the same road as the Beeline (toll), you are well beyond any tolls going from the new hotel to the ship. If I were staying in the area, I would try it.

You're right...since I have a rental I'm not worried about parking. However, you mentioned a shuttle...I didn't know they had a shuttle to the port! Hmmm, this might be easier than I thought.

Which hotel are you talking about? As I mentioned in my original post, I only know that the Holiday Inn Exp. on Atlantic road has parking and shuttle as I called there. I'm still waiting to here from anyone about the fact that this hotel said they only offer parking to people in suites. I'm also still waiting for a response from my email to the new Holiday Inn Exp. property on Tucker Lane, which is actually in Cocoa and not Cocoa Beach. Hopefully this clears up your misunderstanding.
