I'm not going to panic. I've only planned this trip for close to a year. But why, oh why, do these things happen??

She is at home resting with a 101 fever and says she is determined to go.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for pixie dust.

How old is your daughter? Bring down the fever and she will be fine to fly. I'd go on the trip as long as her fever is close to gone. If need be, she can take the first day of the trip to recoup at the hotel.

If more symptoms pop up, call the doc. I'm not one for dosing kids with medicine but I'd take a script of something to kick it out for a vacation.

UGH! I know how you feel. I just picked up DS from school and he has developed a bad cough. We fly out tomorrow morning.

Hope your daughter is feeling better soon and then she doesn't share whatever she has.

the 9yo is feeling better thanks to tylenol - now the 5yo has a sore throat (but no fever). .I want to keep them home from school tomorrow but they are already missing three days due to our long planned trip.

Thanks for words of encouragement. My feelings are raging from sympathy, empathy, and pity.

I hope your children are well and you get to enjoy.

Again, thank you.

Wow! Do I know how you feel!!!:grouphug: We leave this Monday, and both my kids were home sick from school at the end of last week! My DS7 had 103 degree fever, and had been coughing for about a week. Took him to the doctor and they told me he had a sinus infection. The following day, my DS10 complained of a sore throat. Took him to the doctor and he was diagnosed with strep throat. Luckily, we had 10 days before our trip so they got antibiotics and are now fine. My DH also came down with a sinus infection earlier this week, also is on medication. I have been fine so far. I have been taking echinacea to try to prevent getting sick, as well as my vitamins. Also have been eating lots of fruit. We only have 2 days and 19 hours left until we fly out, so we are getting excited!!! Good luck with the sicknesses. I would still go as long as there are no other symptoms! Have fun!!!

Oh gosh! Isn't that the way! We all should take Airborne before we travel! I remember a time that I had ulcers coating my throat 2 days before a week at the Polynesian~talk about painful! I wouldn't have missed that trip for the world and neither would your kids! Sometimes the best medicine is a little Disney magic ( and maybe some Motrin)!

We just got back two weeks ago. The day we were leaving to go on our trip my youngest son 6 woke up with a fever of 101.3  :scared1: He was absolutely fine the day before. I never considered not going; I can't imagine canceling a trip I have spent thousands of dollars on and months planning. I grabbed some motrin and wrote down the number of his pediatrican in case he needed a prescription called in. He slept the whole way to the airport (2hr) and almost the entire flight (2.5 hr). I was a wreck the whole time because I was so worried that he was going to be sick for our entire trip. He seemed to be doing better by this point but while my husband was checking us in for ME he vomitted. (Sorry to family across from us in the ME waiting area :guilty: ) We had to change him into his swimsuit and his older brother's sweatshirt (only clothes we had as our luggage was going straight to our room). Well we finally made it to the room and he really was doing better by this point. He actually even wanted to go to the parks for a little bit. We all went to MGM for a little while and I came home early with him while my DH stayed with my two other sons. I got him into bed early and when he woke up in the morning his fever was gone and he was feeling great!! He was fine the rest of the trip.

I'll send you some pixie dust in hopes that your little one is feeling better soon!!pixiedust:

That bug is in the air. My 2yr old cousin is sick this week with a fever and cough. She leaves in 9 days. My son 5 started sniffling today and is cold to the touch and we leave in 12 days, his voice is starting to go. I am gald the kids are getting it now, they should be over it by the time we leave, now cross our fingers no one else gets it after them.
I am pumping the vitaims tomorrow until we leave.
