2 Castles, 2 Send out 2011 & Ring in 2012...12 Days of Christmas

I haven't been over to POP but I'd love to get over there sometime, just to walk around and see all the bigger-than-life icons.

POP is a fun resort! The ONLY downside I can find to it would be the bed size and no water slide at the pool. Your dh can fish there, just not off the bridge. But maybe you don't want him to know that?!

Dinner & a Movie Night
October 29
Haunted Mansion

title.jpg

The K-Quad and even both dads joined us for this movie night at our house...guess the dad's could not resist a good Eddie Murphy movie. This is probably one of my favorite movies that Eddie has done and one of my favorite Disney rides! Before the movie started we did a little trivia about the movie...like look for the hidden Mickey's and basic information that is part of the ride and the movie. The kids (and adults) had a great time trying to pick the stuff out of the movie.

Made Haunted Mansions

I had some 50% off coupons for Michael's so I bought each family a Haunted Gingerbread Mansion to decorate together. Poor Ab got the task of putting them together so they were ready for the movie night...next time I promised her I would buy the preassembled ones! The kids all had a great time!

Dinner:

Madame Leota Dip with Various Body Parts to be dipped

madameleotawithbodyparts.jpg

Green tinted fruit dip in a crystal ball type vase...Apples-fingers/ribs, grapes-eyeballs, and graham sticks-bones

Ramsley's Frightful Potion with Michael's Worst Nightmare

drinks.jpg

The kids loved the spiders in the ice cubes and the black sugar around the rim with the orange soda really made it look festive!

Witches Broomsticks with Bats & Cobwebs Pasta

dinner-4.jpg

I shaped the breadsticks to look like broomsticks and then made Baked Ziti using bow tie noodle pasta for the bats and added lots of extra cheese for the cobwebs.

Ghostly Graveyard Dessert

jograve.jpg

jomakegraveyard.jpg

Goo got to make the dessert...we made a basic dirt cup recipe (chocolate pudding with ground up Oreos for the ground and dirt). Then he decorated it with headstones (milano cookies) and peep Halloween shaped marshmallows.

Those food ideas are SO creative and fun! Do you come up with them yourself, or do you research them?

Dinner & a Movie Night
November 5
The Muppet Movie

fall2011152.jpg

Tonight was a pretty low key movie night, the cousins were out of town for the weekend on a choir trip and dh/Boo went crane hunting all day...Netflixs movie came and it was a nasty day outside with the wind so I did this movie night on the fly!

Activity:

We really did not have any activity for this movie other than the food prep which Ab and Goo really got into making!

Dinner:

Kermit Fruit Dip with It's Not Easy Being Green Fruit

fall2011141.jpg

fall2011140.jpg

I found this great Kermit head idea on familyfun.com and bought some fruit dip, along with any green fruit I could find...kiwi, green apples, green grapes, and honeydew (although not in season it was a pretty yummy one).

Not so Swedish Chef Meatballs

fall2011147.jpg

Just a simple meatball appetizer recipe that I had using grape jelly and chili sauce!

Miss Piggy in Her Stoll and Tastes Like Chicken Frog Legs

fall2011150.jpg

Mini Hotdogs wrapped in creasant rolls and Hot wings (chicken strips for the kids)

Animal's Drum Sticks with Ranch Dressing

fall2011142.jpg

The Rainbow Connection in a Jar

fall2011154.jpg

I found this cute cupcake in a jar recipe...and although ours did not turn out as pretty...they sure were yummy...Ab and Goo had a blast making them.

You should let me know on FB that your going to post the question and then wait for me to write OK and they come and post....

:rotfl2:JK:lmao: How was the movie night though? I'm waiting with baited breath!

You inspired me with your birthday party post...our last 2 movie nights are finally posted!

That pop cake looks good!

It does look good...Ann says to be careful of the bathroom a few hours later! :rotfl:

I haven't been over to POP but I'd love to get over there sometime, just to walk around and see all the bigger-than-life icons.

I think that is what is drawing me to this resort...it just screams fun and LOTS OF PICTURES!

POP is a fun resort! The ONLY downside I can find to it would be the bed size and no water slide at the pool. Your dh can fish there, just not off the bridge. But maybe you don't want him to know that?!

For one night...and 4 beds (since we got 2 rooms) I think we will manage...I don't think I would have wanted the entire stay here!

THERE IS NO FISHING ALLOWED ON THIS TRIP...:rotfl2: I am not going to let Jeff or Boo near a pole...we do enough fishing the rest of the year...they can handle 2 weeks without! Besides they are in bird hunting mode so fishing is not even on the brain!

Mmmmm everything looks delicious from movie night.

Thanks...sometimes I am embarassed to take pictures of my food...it my be yummy but sometimes it does not look yummy. I hate how perfect "food" pictures are and when you try to recreate it...well, not so much!

Those food ideas are SO creative and fun! Do you come up with them yourself, or do you research them?

Some of them I come up with myself (not many though)...a lot I steal from other people (there is a disney movie night thread on the family board) and from lots of searching on the internet!

Sunday's Trivia Question:
What is the motto for the Rescue Aid Society and in which movie would you find the Rescue Aid Society?

Movie is the Rescuers. The motto is, "Through wind and rain and dark of night, we never fail to do what's right."....I think

Sunday's Trivia Question:
What is the motto for the Rescue Aid Society and in which movie would you find the Rescue Aid Society?

This is my favorite movie ever!!! You find it in the Rescuers! And this is the link to see that part of the movie and the lyrics are...
R-E-S-C-U-E
Rescue Aid Society
Heads held high, touch the sky
You mean everything to me

In a fix, in a bind
Call on us anytime
We'll appear from nowhere
Mighty are we

R-E-S-C-U-E
Rescue Aid Society
Honesty, loyalty
We pledge to thee

R-E-S-C-U-E
Rescue Aid Society
Heads held high, touch the sky
You mean everything to me

In a jam, in a scrape
And you think, "no escape"
Do not fear, we'll be here
Courageous are we

R-E-S-C-U-E
Rescue Aid Society
Heads held high, touch the sky
Our hearts we pledge to thee

First released on June 22, 1977. The 23rd film in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series, the film is about the Rescue Aid Society, an international mouse organization headquartered in New York and shadowing the United Nations, dedicated to helping abduction victims around the world at large. Two of these mice, jittery janitor Bernard (Bob Newhart) and his co-agent, the elegant Miss Bianca (Eva Gabor), set out to rescue Penny (Michelle Stacy), an orphan girl being held prisoner in the Devil's Bayou by treasure huntress Madame Medusa (Geraldine Page).
The film is based on a series of books by Margery Sharp, most notably The Rescuers and Miss Bianca. Due to the film's success, a sequel entitled The Rescuers Down Under was released in 1990.
On January 8, 1999, three days after the film's second release on home video, the Walt Disney Company announced a recall of about 3.4 million copies of the videotapes because there was an objectionable image in one of The Rescuers background cells.
The image in question is a blurry image of a topless woman that appears in two out of the film's more than 110,000 frames. The image appears twice in non-consecutive frames during the scene in which Miss Bianca and Bernard are flying on Orville's back through New York City. The two images could not be seen in ordinary viewing because the film runs too fast — at 30 frames per second on video.
In 1999, two days after the recall was announced, the London press site The Independent reported:
A Disney spokeswoman said that the images in The Rescuers were placed in the film during production, but she declined to say what they were or who placed them... The company said the aim of the recall was to keep its promise to families that they can trust and rely on the Disney brand to provide the best in family entertainment.
The Rescuers video was reissued March 23, 1999 with the offending image edited out. On May 20, 2003, the film was released on DVD.
I saw the picture on a website and it's true... I'm not sure I'm allowed to put it on here!

I am trying to keep busy today and my mind off what November 6th means to me (today would have been my grandmother's 93rd birthday...I can't believe she has been gone over a year), so I thought I would share the kids costumes this year for Halloween...pretty low key costumes for us!

abhermonie.jpg

Ab as Hermione...Her school allowed the kids to dress up if they dressed as someone of high moral character and they wrote a report how that person deomonstrated high moral character. Her paper was amazing...and full of insight that I never thought of before (but this is the girl who read the entire series one year during the 2 week Christmas holiday...and has read them ??? how many times since...plus is the most talented writer I know)

aaron.jpg

Boo as Merlin the Wizard...this is the first year that I did not make him a costume...his costumes have been pretty amazing (if I say so myself) and always win the contest!

jopac.jpg

Goo as the green pac man ghost...one of the easist costumes I have ever made (I like how this boy thinks)...I still am trying to figure out where he came up with this idea for a costume!

Here is Boo's costume from last year...I can't even begin to tell you how many hours I had in this costume!!!

aaron-1.jpg

He is both the gorilla and the zookeeper...

Aww Katie went as Hermione one year as well!

I love that elaborate gorilla zookeeper costume! Amazing!

Wow, amazing costume!! Your dd makes a great Hermione! What a blessing to be able to write!

The first visit to WWofHP was one of trying to just to move up and down the streets of Hogsmeade without losing my traveling partner. I expect the crowds to be just as big as they were back on opening weekend...but this time I have a plan of attack and 4 mornings with early entry into Harry Potter, even if early entry means we have to be standing at the gates of IOA at 6:30 am. I can't wait to spend some time looking in every window in Hogsmeade...I took lots of pictures of the windows but I did not know then that they all held hidden secrets and props...I know Ab is going to love all the little touches these windows have to offer!

Remember a couple of weeks ago when I stopped at the Disney store in Denver...here is what I left with for Ab and Boo. I am still searching for a red mickey shirt for Goo and one for me...sorry Jeff will not wear one so I am not even bothering! :rotfl2:

shirts.jpg

Wow you do go all out with the costumes! Your good at it though! I think that if I were your son, I would have asked you to make me the wizard costume though because I am sure you could have done a better job! I love the other costumes too, pac man seems to be coming up again!
The red shirts are cute too! And I am making the shirts for us to wear--- and since I am packing all of our stuff I guess that's what K HAS to wear:rotfl:!

I love WWOHP and can't wait to go back. Did you play with the monster book in the cage last time? I took some video of it - pretty fun.

I love those red t-shirts!
